Actually I think I have heard one of those sounds before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yay, Happy Moogsday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm mrdonutsu:

The Arp was never ready for the Age of Electronicus...

Nice squelchy electronic music.
Avatar 3:11pm V Priceless:

hey Scott! love bathing my ears in these big, fat analog synth sounds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Scott Williams:

Welcome, friends! Yes, it's a trip outta this place today, space trippin' on some VCFs, oscillators, and the occasional Lowrey organ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm DroneTree:

Coincidentally, I am drawing experimental spacecraft at this very moment. Gotta get to planet X and build a trailer court. Air Streams. You're all invited.
Avatar 3:18pm Chris from DC:

Enjoying the Lords of Synth so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Bas NL:

I love this Besombes & Rizet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm steveo:

hello! a ginger sling with a pineapple heart?
Avatar 3:19pm geezerette:

Good busy robot music!
Avatar 3:21pm geezerette:

steveo,heard that Beatle-y bit too.
  3:21pm Kudubundu:

Analogue synths sound good to me. Beaver and Krause's "As I Hear It" will always be a favourite even if it is short piece. I haven't heard it for years. Achingly beautiful!

Enjoying your selection.
Avatar 3:23pm glenn:

experimental as in who cares if it flies as long as it looks good?
Avatar 3:24pm geezerette:

pretty much, haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm TomDash:

Hey Scott - Great take-off so far! Looking forward to this search-for-space through some synth-splorations...and just throwing out a request for more Pole Records tracks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Scott Williams:

Tom, I'm contemplating more Besombes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Scott Williams:

Say, while we're on this trip, won't you drop a little voltage into our filters? Now is FMU's traditional period of financial blight, so your support today will help us get through til the Marathon in March. I'd love to see my pledge widget rise to 40% today. Thanks everyone!
Avatar 3:39pm Lixiviated Life:

He, he. show me yours too?
Avatar 3:46pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Hey. It's Monday. Woot.
  3:49pm Tee Ess:

That Syreeta track shoulda been on the soundtrack to that Bee Gees Sgt. Pepper’s movie somehow.
  3:49pm JakeGould:

Hey Scott! So I guess you’re not going to play any Queen today, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Rob (Jerzcity):

Thanks for everything, Scott! I bought this John Bender rekkid immediately after you played it back in July. Good shit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Like the latest Banksy work, this show will self-destruct upon completion. So sayeth the robots.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm chresti:

Oh I like this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Scott Williams:

THANK YOU, FRIENDS! Bas, Chris, Kamran, Medson, Sam, Bernd, Alex, Todd, Georgiana, Thomas, Peter, John, Michael, and Rob (Jerzcity)! Please keep on pledging, y'all - let's see that pledgeometer git on up to 60%
Avatar 3:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

What Rob (J) said.
This station does tend to affect one's spendy habits. Between this program, Bryce's, and Fabio's, I seem to be keeping Discogs and the USPS alive single-handedly. Even today, goodies came knocking...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm chresti:

Rev, same here! Not a problem as long as I don't spend anywhere else!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm chresti:

excellent ID delivery!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm mb:

Hello Scott and listener/commenters. Great music to pay a parking ticket to. Indirectly supporting the WFMU, i suppose.
Avatar 4:03pm fred:

Speaking of goodies, Scott's premium is extra great. If you don't already have it, do yourself and the station a favor and pledge to get it
  4:03pm JakeGould:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm chresti:

it's getting to where I have a favorite show (or two) every day!
Avatar 4:05pm Chris from DC:

Peak Heldon right here. Love this record.
Avatar 4:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YAY. This was the Heldon icebreaker for me, thousands of years ago. Ah, youth.
Avatar 4:16pm northguineahills:

I CEE what you did there!
Avatar 4:21pm geezerette:

Ishmael in space, Black Hole Leviathan, really beautiful, Scott!
  4:21pm P-90:

OK, the cat is REALLY loving this one
Avatar 4:23pm geezerette:

P-90, cats are from space...
Avatar 4:24pm Lixiviated Life:

Hello... is that you Bryce?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm chris:

hi, Scott and folks. nice to finally be here. is anyone else having stream problems with the app, today? it could just be on my end, though... cheers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Scott Williams:

Thanks for the alert Chris, I'm not sure - but I've contacted The Authorities
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm TomDash:

These spooky sounds had me check the calendar real quick. No, it is not yet Halloween. Keep up the scary work, Scott!
Avatar 4:31pm Jeff Moore:

Hey, @chris – I don't see indications of Big Streaming Problems (no alerts from our monitoring, and the stream encoders have stayed in contact with stream0 for some seven days solid at current count), and I'm listening to the 128k AAC stream now... will continue to keep an attentive eye on the streams, of course.
Avatar 4:35pm Chris from DC:

I will at this point stipulate that they are in fact rockin' it.
Avatar 4:36pm Jeff Moore:

I feel it would be churlish to accuse them of not rockin' it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm chris:

thanks, Jeff. i'll go yell at comcrash.
Avatar 4:39pm Jeff Moore:

@chris: if you have access to a desktop computer hardwired to your Internet connection and can try, say, that 128k AAC stream in a standalone player like VLC or iTunes or suchlike... that might help figure out if the WiFi is being interfered with versus probs with the Comcast.
Avatar 4:40pm Roberto:

Well now I just gotta look up that Human League album cover.
Avatar 4:41pm Roberto:

LOL I looked it up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Rob (Jerzcity):

Scott, don't worry - I'll keep singing unpicked songs (if I can get away with it)
Avatar 4:44pm northguineahills:

@chris: using the phone app, no problems on my end.
Avatar 4:45pm glenn:

i listened to the wozard of iz yesterday.
  4:48pm medson:

Hola Scott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm chris:

thanks, ngh.
Avatar 4:50pm northguineahills:

Well, since Roberto looked it up, I had to look it up, I've seen worse in the mirror (especially this morning).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Scott Williams:

Hello Medson!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Scott Williams:

Heeeyyy, thanks a lot to Javier and Christi for your support! The widget's sittin' pretty at 48%, can we get it to 60% by 6pm??
Avatar 4:52pm Franco Twinkie:

This reminds me - Rotten candy day is right around the corner.
Avatar 4:52pm Chris from DC:

Have not heard Add N to (X) in a while.
  4:57pm medson:

Tuning in late. Sounds great.
Avatar 4:59pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

co-signing hypnoToad.
& that's an N to X i somehow haven't heard yet.
Avatar 4:59pm northguineahills:

Old skool autechre!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm tim from champaign:

The EAS alert was created with a synth, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@tim - I was just thinking that, too. I wonder what equipment they'd use to create that.
Avatar 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Not synths, but some sort of weird data-thingie, likely? I recall (early 1980s, teenager years) writing random programs in BASIC on the home computer, saving 'em to cassette drive, & playing 'em (far too loud) on the home stereo... similar sounds, if memory serves...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Michael 98145:

" ... a "two tone" combination of 853 Hz and 960 Hz sine waves...the two tones were chosen because they form an interval suited to getting the audience's attention due to its unpleasantness on the human ear. "
Avatar 5:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

jeezus. reading that flashback story proves I haven't progressed one bit since then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm queems:

hell yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm tim from champaign:

Is this THE tape, Scott?
  5:09pm melinda:

Avatar 5:09pm dale:

herro dere. just got home from 4 days away and let me tell you, RADIO SUCKS! we have an xm receiver in the car too - think that has to go - only so much elton john/the eagles/beatles one can take. when fmu came in around wurtsboro i was ecstatic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm tim from champaign:

Thanks RTD and Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Scott Williams:

Tim, it ain't the tape, it's the ELPEE -- and I really do love it
Avatar 5:11pm northguineahills:

@dale: I use my phone on road trips for my woofmoo.
Avatar 5:11pm kirk from beer city usa:

this is a not-so-guilty pleasure
Avatar 5:11pm dale:

i have a dumb phone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Michael 98145:

no one should have a phone smarter than they are
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

dale's testimony above provides yet more reason to pledge. Keep this station afloat!
Avatar 5:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

More flashback material: I recall FM radio in that time, almost without fail, following Abacab with Burning Down the House. That segue is burned into the brain somehow.
Avatar 5:13pm Franco Twinkie:

Pink and Turquoise triangles on graph paper - cuffed boots.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Aitch:

This Genesis giving me creepy high school flashbacks. Will needs Cramps or such to counteract the poison.
  5:14pm melinda:

I was afraid I might not hear Abacab after the Dusty Show ended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Aitch:

I was afraid I'd ever hear it again
Avatar 5:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...or on the local "college music" station, the mandatory segue would go Abacab/Power and the Passion by Midnight Oil. ... It was a different time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm tim from champaign:

Since we're going down this road, Van Halen has some killer synth jams.
Avatar 5:15pm dale:

i remember the star wars disco thing followed up by fly like an eagle which had some spacey intro.
Avatar 5:15pm Franco Twinkie:

melinda! You're mobile today.
Avatar 5:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HEH! I see "menergy" 15 seconds after wondering if we'd hear the Larry Fast solo project SYNERGY following the Genesis.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm queems:

i think we could all do with a little less menergy
  5:18pm melinda:

Hi Franco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Bas NL:

Oh man.. Had so much fun on the dance floor with this one!
  5:20pm Mike from Sac:

Better than Femergy
  5:21pm melinda:

I use an iPod Touch+mobile hotspot when I'm away from home. Also, iPod Touch was a really lame choice when they were naming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Scott Williams:

Let's keep it friendly, Sac
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Michael 98145:

thank you, Scott W. this has been quite the excursion.
  5:24pm Mike from Sac:

I think queems needs to cool it with the mysandry. it was friendly until her comment. but otherwise good show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm queems:

Avatar 5:33pm dale:

i dig her comment. men rule the world and ruin it all at once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm TomDash:

Was wondering if you were going to slip in some TG or Chris and Cosey - got my answer!
  5:36pm The Librarian:

Haven’t heard this in an eternity. Thanks!
  5:37pm Mike from Sac:

Dale that is an incredibly sexist, anti-intellectual and morally offensive view of the world. Almost every comfort you enjoy to this day was created by men. There's no reason to marginalize men. There are good and bad. Just more unnecessary mysandry on a great show.
Avatar 5:39pm northguineahills:

@dale: If I extrapolate from my experience that I rule my world, and ruin it at the same time, there might be something to it.
Avatar 5:39pm northguineahills:

I believe Ivor Cutler put a tune together about the topic.... ;)
  5:40pm melinda:

Synthy dance tunes are more enjoyable without gender wars
Avatar 5:41pm dale:

wel, my wife tells me i ruined a lot of her life so i'm sticking with my hypothesis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Aitch:

I'd not heard this Martial Canterel, seems Fisherspooner did though! Loving this electro vibe. Maybe Me and my Rhythm Box for these people squabbling above^^
Avatar 5:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Fabulous bloody show, SW.

If the theme were to ever come up again, I'd almost literally kill to hear New Musik's "this world of water" on the radio again.
Avatar 5:44pm geezerette:

What Rev. Turnip Druid said !!!
  5:45pm The Librarian:

And now Pankow!!! Yes!!
  5:46pm The Librarian:

@melinda, agreed.
Avatar 5:49pm geezerette:

What TL & Melinda said !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Scott Williams:

Hey, this has been a blast (off!) - thanks everyone!! And thank you, Kara in Bergenfield for your support! See y'all at Monty Hall on Saturday for live band 80s karaoke, and next Monday for the kickoff of Singles Going Steady week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Ike:

Thanks Scott, cool show!
Avatar 5:54pm Franco Twinkie:

Dale, you're a total crack up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm TomDash:

Great show Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Bas NL:

Thanks Scott! An entire-show-clicky-star experience!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm chris:

Thanks, Scott! really fun show. (also, no more stream problems, so my network worked out whatever issues it was having. yay!)
  5:56pm melinda:

Thanks Scott, loved the show!
Avatar 5:56pm Jeff Moore:

Ooh! Ooh! This version of Ashes to Ashes reminds me I should have suggested that great version of Peaceful Easy Feeling by The Blow (from Brand New Abyss)

They actually make that song good.
Avatar 5:56pm northguineahills:

@dale: When I say "I rule my life", that's only when my wife isn't paying attention. There's a reason I'm married to her.

Thanks Scott!
Avatar 5:58pm dale:

it's hard to do it alone all the time northguineahills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Scott. <end transmission>
Avatar 5:59pm Franco Twinkie:

Scott, took me back, man...when I had no money and was skinny as a whip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Michael 98145:

fun journey to the mushroom planet, it was. thanks, Scott W.
