Just six minutes in, & it's all caps-lock, exclamation-marks, & disturbing amounts of enthusiasm over here.

This is so good

Ho ho ho (Green Giant™️).

@Fred; I've got about 2.75 hours to "christen the biscuit," as it were. This is quite a decision.

Glad to finally catch the show from the begining

This Chora(s)san piece is new to these ears. Must now have it stuffed into my veins like a fat field-mouse in a serpent's starving throat, for all time. Infinite happiness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm

@RTD: Aye, weighty stuff there, you don't want to rush it

While I'm not a fan of loud music in the restaurant, I'd happily make an exception for this one. "Waiter, crank it!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
Michael 98145:

that would be one interesting restaurant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm

@KenFHP: I haven't set foot in a restaurant in decades, but where is the one that plays this?
Avatar 3:20pm
D. Lightfoot:

It just started raining heavily on the metal roof of my office building and it is meshing hypnotically with this track. Don't know if I am going to make it to 4:30.

Ciao Fabio!

This is trippy. Hello everyone.

LONG LIVE WFMU - If i was a man of wealth and taste I'd wear WFMU clothing daily and nothing else.

@Ken: Years ago there was a talk of WFMU DJs opening restaurants, and I offered that a Diane/Bryce venture could be called Tofumammut

The video playing in my head to accompany this track is of the sneery, eye-rolly bro from Napoleon Dynamite sitting in the audience watching the performance, surrounded on all sides by rapt drone hipsters

@RTD: My nephew's internship in carrot cake making has come to a close. But he has a decent shot to be hired in a new place his former bosses are opening, so that carrot cake offer might still be on

I've been seeing Sankai Juku ever other year for decades, but I'm no Butoh fan. I try it once in a while, but it's too expressionist for me, if that makes sense

I've always loved Pelham 123, Matthau,Robert Shaw Martin Balsam. Plays out pretty much in real time with one of the best final seconds in filmdom.
wfmu listener phillip:

another classic it the movie "the sentinel" 1977 with christina rains and chris sarandon. if you have netflix check it out its great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm

Just perusing Film Forum schedule, even though I'm not in the area, and I'd say Stranger's on a Train and Purple Noon is a great combo with the Highsmith connection. I might check out Goldfinger and A Hard Days Night just to see the incredibly beautiful Margaret Nolan who appears in both!

Avatar 4:45pm

Was this at the first Unitarian Church of Brooklyn (or whatever it's called?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm

Visually and atmospherically, "Akira" is astonishing and very influential but there was clearly way, way too much story for a movie there. The narrative is disjointed and seems to be missing a lot of important characterization. If it had been a miniseries it could've been even better -- except maybe then it would've have had the budget for those mind-destroying apocalyptic bits towards the end that'll scar you for life (in a good way).

this record is from early 2000s iirc,. I was at his solo organ gig in 2014 at Plymouth Church..... it was spellbinding. him and Steve Dalachinsky are doing a gig the day after the Armory show -- looking forward to that

omg what a great show and now sound of La Jette- yes one of the greatest films!
I'm stopping everything, closing my eyes and listening- and remembering.
I'm misting up
Avatar 5:11pm

Avatar 5:12pm

Now, Threads, is also a wee bit stark....
Avatar 5:19pm

La Jette my favorite film!

The sentinel himself, I think, was John Carradine. The film all takes place in a beautiful old town house still on the Brooklyn Promenade. I can't walk past without thinking about that film. Employed real deformed folks as the denizens of hell.
Avatar 5:21pm

is that an oboe
Avatar 5:21pm

or bassoon maybe
Avatar 🎸 5:23pm

Yep, Carradine. That was a creepy film. I remember his hands were starting to deform (in real life) due to arthritis, and it made him look even creepier.

thank you, Fabio!

love that film !!!
