I had a momentary brainfart where I wasn't sure if I was hearing the beginning of "I am the Walrus" or "Piggy in the Middle."

ken played walrus just 2 years ago, though that was the "slowed down 800%" version :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A time to sow, a time to reap, a time to fail.
Avatar 3:12pm chocolate monk:

I know it ain't, but the orator sounds a lot like the late great Steven Jess Bernstein
Avatar 3:12pm MacGuffin:

Howdy y'all. Pleased to have missed the Beatles. I don't like the Beatles. I hate'em, the Beatles!
Avatar 3:14pm MacGuffin:

That's not true, I'm just being controversial.
  3:15pm Ed Zeppole:

America coughs all night and won't let us sleep.
Avatar 3:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

A bit conceited once you think about it, no? Surely he was "a" walrus, but not necessarily "the" walrus.
Avatar 3:16pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Also: Hello.
Avatar 3:17pm MacGuffin:

WE are the walrusses, the walruses, the walrii ?) that we have been waiting for!!

Once again, a chance to face failures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Carmichael:

The original Amon Duul, before the poser Amon Duuls stole their name and ran with it.
Avatar 3:22pm Chris from DC:

They have two umlauts. Two. Let that sink in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Guido from Cologne:

true enough
  3:24pm brainiac:

@Chris huh. I always thought the second one was a diaeresis.
Avatar 3:26pm Chris from DC:

@Braniac: I did not know that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Guido from Cologne:

Amon Düül were not a band in the first case but a community. They split at Essener Songtage Festival (1968). Amon Düül II were the "musicians". They really wanted to be a band, while Amon Düül I reamained a commuinity. So there is not one "more original" unit. Both come from the same origin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Guido from Cologne:

Tom Newman hates his voice from back then ..., haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Guido from Cologne:

The July stuff was recorded on the same equipement as "Sgt. Pepper" but a a small studio who bought that from Abbey Road.
  3:32pm Brendan:

Spounds like July might have discovered the Leslie rotating speaker left in the studio by the Beatles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Guido from Cologne:

Kaleidoscope UK!
fabio is playing my faves today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Carmichael:

@Guido, I was being Mr. Jokey Jokerton, but thanks for the info anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Guido from Cologne:

guess Tom Newman learned from the frustrating studio experience and thus had the sensibilty to supervise the Tubular Bells production 5 years later
Avatar 3:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

re: Amon Düül I: Psychedelic Underground is harsh but bloody wonderful.

Getting to know your parts unknown (courtesy of wiki)

Scrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name Pannhaas or "pan rabbit", is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices. The mush is formed into a semi-solid congealed loaf,...

... typically made of hog offal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other trimmings, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth. Once cooked, bones and fat are removed, the meat is reserved, and (dry) cornmeal is boiled in the broth to make a mush.

I was all in at ‘semi-solid congealed loaf’
Avatar 4:06pm Chris from DC:

Yay, Kalacakra
Avatar 4:09pm northguineahills:

Kalacakra, new to me

Hey, if it tastes good, I'll eat a semi-congealed loaf. (had some good scrapple in my day [and some disgusting scrapple as well])
  4:11pm Rory:

A bowl of borscht, some weird noise and I'm happy.
  4:12pm Rory:

Avatar 4:44pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 5:34pm northguineahills:

Been caught up at work. But, yaye, Kuuppuu (i got to see them do a soundtrack for a film, and my friend played w/ them), Julius Eastman (not enough recorded material of his work!), nick hoffman to Kohn!
Avatar 5:35pm TDK60:

Reminds me of Terry Riley's organ works a bit, not that every flowing keyboard piece should.
  5:40pm cloud talk:

I think this is entrancing my cat :>}
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Michael 98145:

so much music.
thanks again, Fabio.
Avatar 5:42pm northguineahills:

TDK60: You should check out the Finnish group, Shogun Kunitoki on Fonal records. They have that Terry Riley vibe (albeit a wee bit more aggressive).
Avatar 5:46pm TDK60:

NGH: Sounds good. I'll do a search via WFMU; maybe Fabio has played 'em before, or another DJ.
