We’re still here!!!!!
  12:03am pantz:

I guess if I have to live another I could at least ask for a song request. How about some Dolly Parton?
Avatar 12:04am Jeff Conklin:

Good morning, all.

Request away but know you get what you didnt know you needed here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Corey:

Great song to kick off 2018. Happy new year to all!
Avatar 12:04am Erik in Michigan:

Richard Thompson 2018 - a killer way to start
  12:05am Ricky:

  12:05am blee:

Merry New Year
  12:06am jcon:

  12:06am Agent Peter:

"Am 8, no wait, 10 foot burning ember of burning marijuana headed towards the stage...:"

Happy New Years, past, present & future
Avatar 12:07am Jeff Conklin:

Look out everyone, my pops is on the board...
  12:07am pantz:

I guess if I request Dolly Parton and get Molly Hatchet I'd be okay with that.
  12:07am Agent Peter:

oh whatever, HNY
Avatar 12:09am Erik in Michigan:

I'm going to catch up on the archive, as I'm hanging with the phish stream now - the light show of these phish shows is really insane.
Avatar 12:11am Jeff Conklin:

did you just check in to say you're choosing phish over this show??
  12:11am saucerful:

Happy new year everyone! Pantz - you'll request Dolly Parton and probably get Grateful Dead, so be prepared ;-) And hello to Jeff's dad...welcome!
  12:12am Nick Name:

Happy New Year jeff and all
Avatar 12:12am Jeff Conklin:

Happy new year
Avatar 12:13am Erik in Michigan:

nah man, i wanted to see what you did to bring in the new year! I'm trying to hang with both!
  12:13am Luisa24:

HNY! Listening irt for a change! Sounding good!
  12:15am saucerful:

Yeah, great set so far!
  12:18am pantz:

If I request Dolly Parton but will probably get Grateful Dead can I request Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane?
Avatar 12:19am Erik in Michigan:

lol at least I'm not making requests.
Avatar 12:19am Jeff Conklin:

  12:21am Luisa24:

in a lot of ways Starship was better than Airplane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am Tome:

** happy New Years ** Jeff , Nick too everyone ,,, ( does not agree with Luisa wholeheartedly but I like the StarShip too .. )
Avatar 12:23am Jeff Conklin:

This Starship is amazing, can't go with the better than Airplane...
Avatar 12:23am Erik in Michigan:

A lot of ways? Gonna need more support on that claim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am Tome:

.. not by the late 70's when FM starting to turn to crapola starShip anyway before that ,,,
  12:25am DJ E:

Wasn't Starship in the Star Wars Holiday Special?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am Tome:

think by like 75 I developed a taste for Tuna ( not the seafood kind [ not trying to be funny either ] )
  12:27am saucerful:

Woah, Starship in a Star Wars Holiday Special? Bizarre. I can imagine that, though... In the past couple of years, I've probably listened to Blows Against the Empire more than most recent music.
  12:28am pantz:

Starship in the Star Wars Christmas special was the height of their career, except for We Built This City. That goes w/o saying.
Avatar 12:28am david_:

We built this city on Holiday Specials
  12:30am saucerful:

Oh my, you are right...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vuqa5U8ZL-o
Avatar 12:34am david_:

Miracles too
  12:34am Marc15:

  12:34am saucerful:

Je T'ai Crue translates in Google as "I Tasted You"
  12:35am Agent Peter:

Blows Against the Empire was a Paul Kantor thang. The record company added Jefferson Starship to the name but it was a different than the eventual Jefferson Starship, who were pants.
Avatar 12:35am Number Six:

HNY, Jeff & All. Just think, now that Disney owns the rights it's only a matter of time till that "Special" turns up on Broadway.
  12:36am DJ E:

@saucerful - yeah, it's one of those things that seems too weird to be true and most people seem to suppress it of they knew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am fleep:

It is 9:36 here but we celebrated on New Jersey time, so HNY everyone.
  12:37am DJ E:

@fleep - New Jersey time is how all things should be measured.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am Smilty69:

Happy New Year, guys! Is it too late to request "Row Jimmy" by Grateful Dead?
  12:41am saucerful:

@Agent Peter - yeah, Blows Against the Empire seems to have more in common musically with the Paul Kantner/Grace Slick release Sunfighter than with the later Jefferson Starship music.
  12:42am fredr:

Great stuff this morning Jeff! Happy New Year!
  12:42am Luisa24:

it was better at that moment... :)
  12:43am Agent Peter:

Not the Monterrey PoP version?

(Everyone's a critic!)
  12:44am Mark R:

I've never heard this version of "Section 43" before--only the one on "Electric Music for the Mind and Body." It's very similar but I could tell it wasn't the exact same version. This is one of my favorite extended psychedelic jams of that era.
  12:56am saucerful:

yummy, lovely Neil Young "All my pictures are falling from the wall where I placed them yesterday."
  12:57am saucerful:

Letting go of 2017 feels like a huge transformation into the unknown.
  12:58am Mike tp:

another year with wfmu!!!thank ah you boys!!
  1:11am chucktown dan:

thank you Jeff !!!!
Avatar 1:12am mb:

Cheers, Jeff!

Starting off a new year with a good Monday is starting off the new year with a good Monday. Good day to you, sir!
  1:19am MoeLarryAndJesus:

So did Adam Gadahn play on that BotE track?
Avatar 1:21am Jeff Conklin:

No, he wasn't born yet.
  1:27am MoeLarryAndJesus:

Probably just as well.
  1:27am saucerful:

It's amazing Phil Pearlman was the man behind Beat of the Earth, Electronic Hole, and Relatively Clean Rivers...definitely an eccentric genius. Sad about his son Adam Gadahn.
  1:29am MoeLarryAndJesus:

I've still never heard the 2nd BotE record.
  1:31am Luisa24:

all right its DEAD time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am Tome:

ahhhh yea yea !!!!
  1:35am MoeLarryAndJesus:

This version is 37 minutes long.
  1:41am MoeLarryAndJesus:

How about some Swamp Rats to cleanse the palate?
  1:41am MONEYBAG$:

Well shit, getting in late and this is EXACTLY the show I wanted to hear
  1:41am MONEYBAG$:

seriously you read my mind
  1:41am Agent Peter:

8 months after THAT Port Chester show...
Avatar 1:42am Jeff Conklin:

Ha, nice, Moneybags...
  1:44am MONEYBAG$:

I was reflecting on the disorganized way I got into the dead, and this DS/wharf rat/MAMU was what I found in napster in the beginning
  1:46am MoeLarryAndJesus:

I tuned in after the Temps Heureux. That's a great record.
  1:46am MONEYBAG$:

that and the eyes from 78 red rocks which was an MP3 of a 12th gen soundboard
Avatar 1:46am Raika:

back into Darkstar?
Avatar 1:46am Jeff Conklin:

Back in, after the "beautiful jam" :))))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am Tome:

thankful home withe good headphones ,,, ! weee !!!
  1:48am Bad bob:

Isn't this against the rules?
  1:48am Mark R:

Seems like it was a particularly hot night in Port Chester (or would you say this is just representative of a pretty good night, nothing special?) Anyway, they sound pretty hot to me.
  1:50am Luisa24:

so pretty those jerry notes!
  1:51am MONEYBAG$:

this is a historic show for sure... quality is in the eye of the beholder
  1:51am MONEYBAG$:

or the ear
Avatar 1:53am Jeff Conklin:

@Mark: Overall the show isnt the hottest, but that jam is the best of the month IMHO
  1:53am Agent Peter:

delicate transition. well played sir
  1:54am Mark R:

Glad you played the best part then!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am Tome:

just glad to be here live ,, and another wonderful year of music and the archives ,, on the best place in the world !
  1:55am Bad bob:

I'm so hungry I could eat 12 things
Avatar 1:56am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, Tome. And thanks for noticing, Agent Peter.
  1:58am MoeLarryAndJesus:

This show has been particularly hot for months.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59am Tome:

surely just when I thought I heard just about everything there is this show , and new and familiar sound I love ,, the kind of show I would like to do same ,
  2:09am MoeLarryAndJesus:

Tome, best thing about music is there is always something new.
  2:15am MONEYBAG$:

There's always something new from 1972
  2:17am MoeLarryAndJesus:

It's new if you haven't heard it before or can't remember hearing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17am Tome:

... agrees with the above wholeheartedly
Avatar 2:59am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks for hanging, everyone. Be well...
