Avatar 3:14pm djsheilab:

I kinda love it how the singer loses it vocally during the chorus. She can't hit those low notes so just kinda gets quiet :)
Avatar 3:15pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: Better to know ones vocal limits than to sing at the top of their range like a congested gibbon. Looking at you Eric Clapton.

@JakeGould, I understand Mar-a-Lago has the best hurricane defenses and the strongest walls. And even if those should fail, I'm sure it has the most tremendous insurance policy.

YEAH! Movin' Too Slow! CLASSIC! Only on the LP-no single for this one. I think it's better than "Blowin' Up My Mind"
Avatar 3:29pm djsheilab:

@JasoninBoston TOTALLY AGREE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm JtotheK:

Great Exciters track! Found the Caviar/Chitlins LP a few years ago, but have yet to find the 'Blowin' Up My Mind' 45.
Avatar 3:34pm northguineahills:

We could all use a little jog of Irma to the west. Too many 80-300 year old trees in my hood, and I need to find a parking garage for my car. Probably won't lose water, but will lose electricity and internet for weeks, and maybe some windows. For the last three days, the SoFla refugees have been crawling through our town.Still no gas. I do have plenty of food and a gas range.

It's always interesting finding those universally accepted artists. I worked at a record store for many years with many people of very different tastes, but I'm pretty sure every single one of them could agree on Nick Lowe.

Hey ShielaB hi everyone TGIF thank god, never thought we'd make it to friday with everything happening.
Avatar 3:42pm northguineahills:

I'm near I-75 and two US highways, so, everyone coming north has been guzzling gas. My 3mi/5km commute after lunch yesterday which is usually 12 minutes was over 45 minutes due to the out-of-town traffic. I was the last one in my office, so, I wrapped up the the servers, computers, printers, etc in garbage bags and put them high off the ground. I also found a way to park the company truck in the laboratory. (I'm the only one w/o kids).

Avatar 4:13pm JakeGould:

Hey Sheila! Interesting thoughts here. Just read this this morning and it’s pretty compelling: It’s written by a guy who was a black punk kid in the 1970s/1980s in Southern California and Oregon back in the day. Basically boils down to the idea that all white nationalism can be traced towards a strong anti-Semitic core. The guy works as a lawyer now but was originally in a band that eventually morphed into “Sublime” at some point. www.politicalresearch.org...

A gaijin (foreigner) in Japan, no matter how welcomed, always becomes aware of a subtle but deeply ingrained current of racism. (Just sayin, I love going there anyway)

The word "gay" has been stigmatized by fearmongers. It is actually considered an insult, to some people, to be called "gay," if the person is not gay

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm The Oscar:

Back when I lived with roommates I used to love playing Charles Manson with the door open and wait for people to ask what it was. It's actually pretty listenable if you can get the context (which, of course, is nearly impossible).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm JtotheK:

internet research shows that the Manson track "Look At Your Game Girl" was recently played on WFMU -- The Avant Ghetto with Jeff Conklin: Playlist from May 15, 2017 - at the 2:15:13 mark.

Always nice to listen along with SBB! Such a... troubling time in the world. Yet people always will have great music and compassion toward others. No matter how weird reality becomes, music and kindness will always be part of reality! SBB is always a reminder of that.

Why give hurricanes human names?! So archaic. Maybe if they used evil names? They'd run out of those (such as if they used dictator's names?). Maybe just numbers.
