Avatar 3:19am Jay/London:

  3:20am markr:

Oy! Summer shall not go quietly in London, eh?
Avatar 3:21am Jay/London:

no not at all markr :)
  3:34am markr:

If it gets too hot, Jay...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am pacific standard simon:

The diddly bow!
Avatar 3:39am Jay/London:

oh markr gonna make the most of it ... love the heat ... cool breakfast music !!
  3:40am markr:

Yes, so Bill Kelly informed me yesterday morning, Simon. Sounds good, Simon. Come January, we'll all be praying for a little warmth, I'm sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am pacific standard simon:

Ah well, I work in a bakery, so I get all the heat I need, even in January.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am pacific standard simon:

I've been sharing WFMU with my co-workers lately. Some were particularly interested in Uncle Michael's 'hits of 1976' show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10am pacific standard simon:

I have some Martinu chamber music somewhere, but I've never heard any symphonies. Your comments, Mark, make me wonder how this one is different from the others.
  4:10am jay dee:

Nice one, girlfriend shows up and plays a cd of a symphony.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17am coelacanth∅:

hello Mark R.
i like this Martinu and i quite liked "goddess sparkle", which was most of my sound track to driving home.
  4:19am markr:

Glad you're enjoying, Coel. Simon, Martinu himself said it was unlike any of his other symphonies--I believe he was referring to its structure (but I ain't no classical expert or nothin').
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25am pacific standard simon:

I seem to have an affinity for Czech composers -- Leoš Janáček and Jaroslav Ježek, for example.
  4:26am markr:

I have I think one Janácek recording, not familiar with Jezek
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am pacific standard simon:

Ježek is pretty obscure because he died young. I got lucky and found a CD in a thrift store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46am pacific standard simon:

Ha! As timely today as ever.
  4:47am markr:

Yep unfortunately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am pacific standard simon:

Bought a clarinet at a rummage sale. Haven't had time to explore it much, yet. Seems to work fine.
Avatar 4:54am pierrralain:

Morning !
  4:56am markr:

Morning, Pierralain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02am pacific standard simon:

I liked the Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. Worth exploring more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04am pacific standard simon:

Oh stop! Welcome Debbie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11am pacific standard simon:

I don't know what happened to Steely Dan after this album, but it was the last one that I loved unconditionally.
  5:27am geoff mcq:

Now this is a proper set of Monday morning songs. Bleak, bleaker, bleakest. Good work!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am pacific standard simon:

Totally works for me. Of course, it's my Friday night and I'm dead tired.
  5:33am geoff mcq:

Oh, don't get me wrong here, I ain't complaining. I ❤️ bleak.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37am pacific standard simon:

Is this the first solo McCartney song?
  5:38am markr:

Probably "Yesterday" was first, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38am pacific standard simon:

I don't think there are any other Beatles on it.
  5:39am markr:

They were all singing, though.
Avatar 5:40am greyscale:

well, George Martin was Really on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40am pacific standard simon:

My time line is off. And my U is in Tucson. Permanently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43am coelacanth∅:

yes - yesterday was the first solo McCartney song. eleanor rigby had the other beatles and a 4 string quartet (twice) on it. (and yesterday came first)

...Thanks Mark, i'm out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45am coelacanth∅:

ps - (although yesterday also had strings on it)
Avatar 5:45am greyscale:

strings = George Martin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47am pacific standard simon:

And to think, The Monkees got slagged like H-E-double-hockey-sticks for just singing on their stuff.
  5:52am markr:

Thanks Coel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52am coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57am pacific standard simon:

I was listening to "Here Comes The Sun", and I couldn't tell if John and Ringo were on that track at all. Sounded like Paul might have been playing drums and synth.
  5:58am markr:

Thanks for tuning in everyone, see you next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00am BnowB:

sin shame and end of your show :(
