Avatar 7:20pm Sem Chumbo:

Even the quick read I had just now about Mr. Hammill makes me want to hear a great deal more.
Avatar 7:21pm Bill Mac:

Sometime I think he's a tad over the top, but he's got some goodies there.
  7:29pm V Priceless:

Recently was reading that Hammill's 'Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night' was a big influence on DB's 'Station to Station', which I never knew.
Avatar 7:31pm Sem Chumbo:

In a 1977 radio interview, John Lydon of the Sex Pistols played two tracks from the album In Camera) and expressed his admiration for Hammill in glowing terms: "Peter Hammill's great. A true original. I've just liked him for years. If you listen to him, his solo albums, I'm damn sure Bowie copied a lot out of that geezer."
Avatar 7:31pm Bill Mac:

Never saw that album before. I'll need to track it down. His first solo
  7:36pm V Priceless:

Whoa Bill with the Strawbs! Funny the intro of the previous track reminded me of 'Queen of Dreams'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Uncle Michael:

When isn't Bill Mac on? I ask you.

Avatar 7:38pm Bill Mac:

It's been somewhat irritating hasn't it? Your comment flew by so fast on Joe's show I didn't see it til afterwards...
  7:38pm V Priceless:

Strawbs @ BB Kings in November. Always fabulous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Uncle Michael:

It's not irritating! Or it make a pearl. You decide.
Avatar 7:39pm Bill Mac:

Hiya Fran.... it's getting kinda respectable round here... and I'm talking about the number of people here at this moment....

Bill - Mike Heron's Smiling Men with Bad Reputations album is well worth a listen. John Cale and other guests on it.

Avatar 8:56pm still b/p:

Just looking at background on Tom Lehrer. Known of him for forty years but haven't known his story. Or that he was still around but long dwelling in musical quitsville...but still spirited. Responding 5 years ago to a request to allow sampling of his material for a 2 Chain recording, he said, "I grant you motherfuckers permission to do this."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Fran:

I'll sign out on the high note of Chester Arthur Burnett. Great show as ever Bill and catch you again soon. Good night all!

Used to be a Catholic supply and tchotchke shop downtown here, and despite other specific exposure to the phrase decades earlier in a Catholic upbringing, the name of the place, "Ave Maria," always brought the Vatican Rag to mind for me and others.
Avatar 9:10pm Bill Mac:

Vatican Rag!!!!! My Fave Tom Lehrer tune
  9:23pm V Priceless:

Absolutely fabulous show, Bill! ; )
Avatar 9:24pm Bill Mac:
