Hello, WoofMooPeeps. Up unusually late as I am not going into my temp gig early tomorrow; rather, I have major dental work slated so indulging a bit tonight.
Avatar 12:06am Jeff Conklin:

  12:17am J:

Wooooooo! Already off to the races!
  12:26am Peter:

It's a shame that there aren't legally live cd's that comprise Ash Ra Tempel's 71-72 period-----totally at their best then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Erik in MIchigan:

Morning y'all

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Nardo:

My devil's horns emojis aren't displaying. Must have something to do with Gene Simmons applying for trademark.

  12:41am sfolk16:

its almost like its barley happening...but, of course, it IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Neil it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12:44am Tidy666:

I think it was 1990...Neil asked einsturzende neubauten to open on the freedom tour...blixa said no...Neil end up with social d and sonic youth...what a freaking show it would've been!and what a show it was!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am Erik in MIchigan:

I lived in Nagoya for a year and a half! This tune has to be the coolest thing to have ever happened there!
  12:46am sfolk16:

......barely hanging together, but so on it.....that is!!!....its so fragile sounding and so powerful at the same time...!!!!
  12:48am sfolk16:

nice transition............!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49am fleep:

All live, all fine.
  12:51am Jeff Conklin:

@tidy: That would've been terrible! Ha. Somic Youth pissed the boomers off enough on that tour.
Avatar 12:51am Eiderdown:

Mornin' Jeff, good morning all! I'll be right back...gotta go put on my Avant Ghetto shirt too
Avatar 12:53am Jeff Conklin:

I imagine all of you sitting there wearing the shirts and it makes me smile
  12:53am Tidy666:

Oh yeah!they were pleasantly noisy.but certainly drawing from the crazy horse wellspring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55am Aitch:

My shirt just arrived too. It smells like bears?
  12:55am sfolk16:

Shirts? Any left?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Fuzzy:

Shirts are arriving? Good news, then -- any day now!

There were probably 100 people in the Boston Garden crowd in '90 when Sonic Youth went on opening for Neil. They were all SY fans, including me. About half the crowd was there for SD, and they all dug SD. Neil blew the roof off that night.
  1:04am J:

That's an amazing mental picture (camping scene), but terrrifying nonetheless. Glad you're still with us!
  1:05am brubru:

Playing in the butt!

7, 8, 9, 10
  1:06am BeeDeeEm:

oh baby, a little Jerry. its like youre in my head.
Avatar 1:06am Jeff Conklin:

I was only 12 when that SY/NY tour happend :/
Avatar 1:07am Jeff Conklin:

@J: I can't remember ever being that scared in my life. Couldn't bring my self to shine my headlamp that way but got my boots on in case I had to kick the motherfucker in the face if he got to close. Crazy.
  1:08am sam:

Had the same bear experience up in Yosemite about 15 years ago. Not fun...Hey Jeff if you can put up one of your "Bring Out Your Dead" shows. Never got to hear it and would love to. Have you heard the new Dave's Picks from '78? Pretty incredible.
Avatar 1:09am Johnny Sal:

I've had to wash my tshirt 3 times already. It's done its job quite well of completely baffling everyone who's bothered to look at it.
Avatar 1:09am Jeff Conklin:

@Sam: Yes I will eventually. I thought i had one on Soundcloud but i guess i took it down.
  1:11am terminus:

why dont other radio stations play grateful dead
Avatar 1:11am Jeff Conklin:

@Johnny: Yes!!

Re: New Dave's Picks: I like that show a lot. Still have a tape of it somewhere. The Close Encounters jam into Stephen is sweet. Wouldn't even be in my top 5 picks of 78 though, I feel the Spring run through the south was incredible and the Dartmouth show from May all beat it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am upsetter5001:

Hello Avant GHetto!
Avatar 1:14am Jeff Conklin:

@terminus: Some probably do. There is the Dead Hour after all!
  1:17am Jeff Conklin:

@upsetter: What up dude!
  1:21am sam:

Will have to find a copy of Dartmouth. Thanks for the recommendation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am upsetter5001:

Regret not seeing Sonic Youth opening for Neil back in 1990. I don't even remember what my excuse was. Heard it was a good time. Maybe not for the older Neil Young fans.
  1:35am J:

Jesus, that sounds terrifying. The bear story, not SY opening for Neil, though that doesn't sound pleasant either.
  1:39am sam:

People coming out for Neil in '90 knew they were going to get a lot of feedback/noise in the mix, and those that showed up for SY(at least in the Garden) knew who they were and dug them. That was also when SY were at their more tuneful. They played a fairly short set, and as I said those relative few that were there liked them. But then again, that was in Boston, which is quite a bit different then seeing the same show somewhere in the Midwest or South, I would imagine.
  1:45am Tidy666:

Thee dead is represented upstate on wgxc...no much but I do my part...heard a jerry tribute show once where the DJ gave a disclaimer not to like thee dead but play 2&1/2 hours of dead.pretentious hipster prick no wonder jerry was bummed!
  1:48am J:

Yeah I remember the tour. Story I always heard was that Neil was the one that asked them to leave the tour. Makes sense on paper, but 1990 was a tough year to try to pull that off. 94 and it would have been the tour of the year.
Avatar 1:52am Mark R:

Thanks for the groovy jams for my drive in, man.
  2:02am J:

This is such a good Morning Dew. Been pretty burned out on the Dead after all the summer tour hoopla (no comment), then I hear one of these... sublime.
  2:13am Eiderdown:

Hate to break the live jam flow but thanks for the play Jeff!
  2:19am karankeeone:

Hello, good morning!Might you find some Nancy Griffiths to play, please? Thanks!
  2:22am hindledale:

  2:24am Mike tp:

  2:32am Clint:

Beautiful night for a radio transmission.
Avatar 2:36am Jeff Conklin:

I'm sorry, I don't take requests. WFUV is a little further up the dial, they got you covered on the Nancy Griffiths tip ;)
  2:36am Eiderdown:

Nice segue. I'm drifting...
  2:37am Juan:

Got my WFMU Avant Ghetto t-shirt today, funny that it happened on a Sunday, so I am currently wearing it for the first time.
Avatar 2:44am Jeff Conklin:

@Eiderdown: Great release!

@Juan: Nice!
  2:52am Eiderdown:

Love me some JC...that track was a beaut
Avatar 2:58am Jeff Conklin:
