Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Fran:

Glad you played the Noura Mint Seymali Bill - have you heard the wonderful album by Les Filles de Illighahad yet? Like an acoustic and equally hypnotic version!

I bet Baby Tom Waits was quite a handful, too.

Hampstead Heath, wish i were back there
Avatar 1:20pm Brian in UK:

Bill, just had a visitor to see Lili. Things not great six weeks in a sling as humerus breaks cannot be set. Deep joy, as Stanley Unwin might say.

Great news that you are seeing Noura Mint Seymali.

Stanley, just tie & armband?

Bloomingheck, Sam Gopal. Where's my Afghan.

Bill, it's a kipper.
Avatar 1:23pm Bill Mac:

@KP Hasn't Hampstead Heath appeared in a popluar song @ some point?
  1:25pm andy in berlin:

go ahead and play Fever Tree, you know you want to!
Avatar 1:25pm Brian in UK:

Hampstead Heath used to be notorious for men of a certain persuasion to meet. And I don't mean stamp collectors.
Avatar 1:26pm Brian in UK:

@andy I see your Fever Tree and raise you Clear Light.

'a kipper tie' said in my best Noddy Holder imitation.

Brian - you got it.

I gotta go brush my 'Hampsteads'

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Stanley:

Ken - here's to that $1,000,000 prize
Avatar 1:50pm Bill Mac:

@Fred If it is, it's the only title inverted on this CD
Avatar 1:51pm Bill Mac:

Yeah Ken, time to play the Powerball
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Stanley:

Love this Moon Duo album. It's getting a lot of plays recently.
Avatar 1:53pm Bill Mac:

Avatar 1:54pm KP:

Moon Duo does it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Ike:

Did somebody say cat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Stanley:

Wow, this takes me back. i was tentatively acquainted with Mr Bloodvessel in my bad old East End days.
Avatar 2:01pm Brian in UK:

Was Buster Bloodvessel originally from Magical Mystery Tour?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Holy man! First time I've heard "Lorraine" from these guys. The local band I used to follow, PErFect ThYroID, had it in their setlist.
Avatar 2:05pm Bill Mac:

Accordion to the record it's their composition
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Ike:

Cucumbers of course! Though this GIF doesn't make that much sense because cats are supposedly terrified of cucumbers according to the Internet, but (s)he looks more awed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Fran:

Mott! That's cheering me up!
Avatar 2:08pm Bill Mac:

Overend Watts baby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Fran:

Avatar 2:09pm KP:

Ian was not Born in any part of '58!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Stanley:

Ike - I always thought they were Cheesy Wotsits (or your American equivalent), which understandably is something to be in awe of.
Avatar 2:10pm Bill Mac:

I don't think Watts was either RIP Pete
Avatar 2:11pm Brian in UK:

Sam Kogan's album could be sub titled 11.
Avatar 2:13pm Bill Mac:

Was it that loud? I'm recording the show here and see no spikage
Avatar 2:13pm geezerette:

Butthole Surfers!!! Underdog!!! :D YAY!!!
Avatar 2:13pm Bill Mac:

Thank Ewe!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Stanley:

Butthole Surfers are playing the Safe as Milk festival in Wales in April. Great line-up including The Residents (blimey!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Fran:

Can't wait for the Safe as Milk festival in a couple of months - The Residents, Butthole Surfers, This is Not This Heat and Shirley Collins all on the same bill as well as other goodies!
Avatar 2:15pm KP:

Yeah i saw them at Stony Brook, first tour. When i mentioned that on "another outlet," Ian went on about that show. Watts was dominating on stage
Avatar 2:15pm geezerette:

Driverless cars are fine but we NEED teleportation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Stanley:

Fran - you lucky dog!
Avatar 2:15pm Bill Mac:

@Fran Wow yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Fran:

Stanley - I have my chalet!!
Avatar 2:16pm KP:

This puts McGuinn to shame
Avatar 2:17pm Bill Mac:

@KP Hearing that warms my heart. Ians still doing it - he plays the Winery in NYC periodically and mention Overend during the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Fran:

Stanley - it might end up like Holiday on the Buses crossed with Hi-di-Hi but with a great line up of 'turns' before and after bingo!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Fran:

XTC - yay! Bill you are now spoiling me. And as for the king of words Stanley Unwin earlier!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Stanley:

Fran - also Nurse With Wound.
I love the idea it's a Hi-De-Hi style thing.
There'll be on site childcare and late night bacon sandwiches
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Fran:

Bill - has that massive Ian Hunter box set emerged yet - some ridiculous amount of discs involved?
Avatar 2:22pm Bill Mac:

I'm not sure.... I saw an interview and he was asked about it. He didn't really know too much about the details himself. What was it, 70 CDs or something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Stanley:

Nearest I got to Mott and Bowie live was the Hunter-Ronson Tour in 1975 at Aylesbury Friars
Avatar 2:23pm geezerette:

Bill, GREAT show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Fran:

Stanley - so long as we are not in the chelet next to Arthur Mullard, Su Pollard or Reg Varney that's fine by me! There is very little on the line up that I wouldn't pay to see anyway - and the bands will get paid unlike the rogue that ran ATP!
Avatar 2:23pm Bill Mac:

I saw them during the Broadway Tour with Luther Grosvenor in place of Ralphs.

Hey thanks Geezerette!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Fran:

That's about it Bill - a box as big as an average person's complete CD collection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Stanley:

Fran - I noticed you left out Ruth Madoc (I understand)
Avatar 2:25pm KP:

Ian Hunter "Stranded in Reality" 30 Cds £249.99, out since October
Avatar 2:26pm Bill Mac:

Yikes... ok so the other 40 cds are of him sleeping
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Fran:

I only saw the Mott reunion shows from a year or two back which were great nights out indeed and I've seen Ian Hunter a few times (twice dragging Joe Elliott from Def Leppard on stage to help sing ATYD). If only I was 10 years older!!
Avatar 2:27pm Bill Mac:

I wanted to go to England to catch that. I've seen parts of the show on youtube though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Fran:

£250 for the box - if I was from Yorkshire I would now be screaming the Yorkshire war cry 'Howwww Muuuuch!!!' Wow that's up there with the insanely priced Floyd, UK and Hillage things of late!
Avatar 2:29pm KP:

When I saw Lee Michaels he had moved on to playing electric piano on stage b/c the Hammond had hampered his hearing. i think he played guitar too
Avatar 2:30pm Bill Mac:

What abouth the Crimson stuff too. I think the classic albums got that treatment. There are close to 40 CDs between 3 of thsoe albums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Stanley:

Heighty Hi - I see what you did there, Bill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Fran:

Stanley - I do try to forget Ruth Madoc but you've now made that impossible. I thank you........
Avatar 2:32pm Sem Chumbo:

Thirty minutes over Zzzzzzero Hour is better than nothing. Hiya, Bill, and look at all the Zeroheads pitching in their few cents worth!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Stanley:

...my pleasure. Fran.
Avatar 2:32pm Bill Mac:

Hah! Semyoola!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Stanley:

Sem! Nice to see ya.
Few cents worth? I'm nearly out of change, altogether.
Avatar 2:33pm KP:

Frankly, I never got into later Mott the Hoople and Ian's solo career. Absolutely loved the first two MTH albums, especially of course the first, one of the mostest epic of all time. Glam? Eh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Fran:

You are right Bill but at least the Crimsons are a bit more sensibly priced around the £100 mark so you can put up with the repetition and 'nice to have rather than essential' stuff a little more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Fran:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Fran:

Ian Hunter has some gems in his solo output KP albeit a little uneven - worth giving it a chance.
Avatar 2:41pm geezerette:

Thanks for playing "Funky Drummer". :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Stanley:

Love this. Doug did a great Clyde / JB set a couple of shows back. Very worth checking out.
Avatar 2:43pm Bill Mac:

I stopped listening to him around short back and side. Saw him with Ronson (met Ronson). He was at the NYC Winery a few weeks back and did a killer version of The Moon Upstairs from Brain Capers (my first & favorite MTH album, right before Bowie made them Rock Stars). Good to see him still doing it
Avatar 2:44pm Bill Mac:

I'll check that out for sure, Sidney.
Avatar 2:44pm geezerette:

Thanks Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Fran:

I've dipped in and out of Ian Hunter's solo work - often getting CDs which have been on sale. Brain Capers is amazing but I like Wildlife too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Fran:

That is some beat is it not!
Avatar 2:48pm Sem Chumbo:

A solid shot of funk, good thing, I was down a a kilolitre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Stanley:

Avatar 2:49pm Bill Mac:

@Fran They're all good and different in their own way. I've heard critics say that Wildlife was more a ralphs album. It's got some nice stuff on it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Fran:

Sem - A Kilolitre of Funk......good album title alert!!
Avatar 2:50pm geezerette:

Great Max Roach solo on "Delilah" with Clifford Brown too.
It's available on youtube.
Avatar 2:50pm Bill Mac:

@Stanley I couldn't help it. Love this track with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Fran:

True Bill - Mad Shadows has its moments too. They were more diverse than they were credited for at least in the early years.
Avatar 2:52pm geezerette:

Nice way to groove on out. Love it.
Avatar 2:52pm Sem Chumbo:

My gift to you, Fran:-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Fran:
