The program formerly known as Seven Second Delay, and The Happiness Hut. Ken and Andy, also known as The Enema Boys, further lower WFMU's already abysmal standards on a weekly basis. Stunt radio which subjects the radio audience to concepts and topics which mature adults should not have to endure. Find the fatal flaw. (Visit homepage.)

  6:05pm Matt in Hillsborough:

what about "s-hit"
Avatar 6:07pm InBrkly:

Hmm book contents shows teen spirit against more than a feeling but I always hear wild thing in the back of my head
Avatar 6:09pm cosmic matrix:

sounds more like that lou reed song..and the colored girls go..or is that the velvets?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Marcel M:

Listening to like, an actual guest interview situation on this show is really really strange.
Avatar 6:09pm Chris M.:

kurt cobain once played the opening chords to more than a feeling live in reference to the similarity
Avatar 6:12pm InBrkly:

more recently Tom Petty and Sam Smith
Avatar 6:13pm InBrkly:

Wire / Elastica had an amicable agreement I believe....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Marcel M:

Its not possible to write songs that don't sound like other songs, so now, you just have to insert a bunch of weird effects and ambient shit in-between parts and BOOM! Modern originals, man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Nick the Bard:

There's that one with Red Hot Chili Peppers and, it was Nickelback wasn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm SeanG:

i love this kinda stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm melville:

Killing Jokes "Eighties" and Nirvana's "Come as You are" have the exact same riff.
Avatar 6:18pm InBrkly:

that example is in the book.
Avatar 6:18pm Cliff:

And both are similar to The Damned's "Life Goes On"
  6:19pm wizard frog:

trying to 'own' a combination of notes can seem a bit arbitrary
  6:20pm ScottC:

I remember something about Randy California. He was in a pick-up band with Hendrix and there were 2 Randys in the band so Hendrix called him Randy California...
  6:21pm noel:

The Spirit song sounds a bit like "Summer Rain" by Johnny Rivers.
Avatar 6:22pm Cliff:

Yeah, a couple of L7s....but presumably not members of the band L7
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Nick the Bard:

interesting questions from callers, but, gah, you guys call in with song suggestions, damn
Avatar 6:23pm Listener Julian:

Why is Andy not being as misanthropic as usual? Is something wrong?
Avatar 6:23pm Listener Julian:

What is wrong with this show?
Avatar 6:23pm Listener Julian:

When will the show start?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Marcel M:

Wow... thats a stretch to me man thats ridiculous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm joe mulligan:

sounds more like Istanbul not Constantinople!
Avatar 6:24pm cosmic matrix:

sounds more like that stevie wonder song....part time lover !!!!
Avatar 6:24pm Chris M.:

it's not even the right rhythm or anything
  6:24pm noel:

I'm hearing "Barabajagal" by Donovan from that Brazilian song
  6:24pm Jeremy:

Rod Stewart's "Do ya think I'm sexy" was pilfered from Jorge Ben's "Taj Mahal"
Avatar 6:24pm Cliff:

I think what the world needs is a bossanova Deep Purple cover band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Marcel M:

Yeah that one was ridiculous. Every song sound like that at the end of the day.
  6:25pm Tommy Haynes:

B52s Rock Lobster and the theme for the Movie BEAT GIRL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Ken From Hyde Park:

How about "The ABC Song" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"? Those two songs sound suspiciously alike to me.
  6:25pm Mister Eddie:

Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor
Eric Carmen's All by Myself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Marcel M:

As long as they get credit and get paid generally people don't care.
  6:26pm P-90:

Why WOULDN'T the guys in Deep Purple be listening to Astrud Gilberto?
Avatar 6:26pm cosmic matrix:

the first trap music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Carmichael:

How about the George Harrison/Chiffons "He's So Fine" lawsuit?
  6:27pm oks:

rod stewart "da ya think i'm sexy?" and jorge ben jor "taj mahal"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm foofs:

The 'Under Mi Sleng Teng' riddim is Joy Division's 'Isolation'.
Avatar 6:28pm geezerette:

Everyone raids everyone don't they? Isn't that just part of the creative process? Classical composers did it too, incorporating folk songs or bird songs, etc.

Dylan is famous for stealing!
  6:28pm bob from bushwood:

I have wondered if McCartney wasn't noodling around with the jazz standard Yesterdays when he wrote Yesterday. Actually I might have stolen this idea
  6:33pm Tommy Haynes:

Except Yesterday and Yesterday's have totally different chord progressions
  6:35pm JakeGould:

Did they do Vanilla Ice and Queen yet?
Avatar 6:35pm geezerette:

Those obvious quotes from other artists were considered name checks / tributes, hiding in plain sight. Tracking down a composition's DNA was part of the fun and how the greater history revealed itself to you;how you learned your history and chose your ancestors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Marcel M:

Its definitely acceptable to use Sabbath riffs. Basically all stoner metal/doom bands do it. Some more obvious than others. Also blues riffs.. c'mon. They are all the same! It ain't stealin'! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Carmichael:

Oh yeah the Cars. My Best Friend's Girl vs. the Beatles I Will
Avatar 6:39pm Listener Julian:

is this gonna be like that time they had people call in and confess to committing real bad crimes
Avatar 6:39pm geezerette:

Making connections is how we think and imagine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Marcel M:

That Stooges riff is so easy to stumble upon randomly and just think you had something. But at what point are you like, "oh, ok.. I can't use that."
  6:39pm JakeGould:

@MarcelM: Everyone steals. It’s just how lazy the copying effort is. If someone wants to steal a riff and grow it, most people don’t care.
Avatar 6:39pm Listener Julian:

where is the punchline
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Nick the Bard:

YOU PEOPLE CALL IN, JESUS. (we're supposed to be getting like REALLY known songs in and all people are calling in with so far are like, kind of obscure shit)
  6:40pm grecian:

Planet Claire and Peter Gunn
  6:41pm JakeGould:

@NicktheBard: Did they mention Queen and Vanilla Ice yet?
Avatar 6:41pm geezerette:

@Jake: Precisely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Carmichael:

@Nick: tell Ken or Andy to read the comments at least once during the show. A lot of good comparisons here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Polyus:

Deep Purple and It's A Beautiful Day swiped riffs from each other and both were all "oh, go on then".
  6:42pm KM:

Wasn't one case of this Torn by Natalie Imbruglia, and some song by some Norwegian singer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm melinda:

Interesting that George Harrison kept fighting his case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Nick the Bard:

@Jake - I don't know, I'm call screening

@carmichael - you tell Ken (and you really think Andy is near the computer at all?)
  6:43pm JakeGould:

@NicktheBard: Hey, cool. I am on call holding!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"My Country 'Tis of Thee" and "God Save The Queen" ... a total rip-off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Nick the Bard:

There, you see what happens when you have two phone lines your house to deal with your dial-up issues :P
Avatar 6:44pm geezerette:

@Jake: I meant your reply to Marcel.
Avatar 6:47pm tonyb:

"borrowed tune" by neil young
admits to comping "lady jane"
  6:48pm ScottC:

Is Andy's Crips tattoo fading or something....
  6:49pm JakeGould:

@geezerette: De nada. Also, I got my Queen/Vanilla Ice thing in there. So hey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm melinda:

Man, suing the Rutles is lame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm dale:

if you listen to the opening of joe jackson's 'breaking us in two' it is IDENTICAL to the opening of badfinger's day after day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Gaylord Fields:

It was the Beatles' publisher who sued, not the Beatles themselves — as the Beatles very famously don't own the publishing rights to their songs.
Avatar 6:53pm Eric M S:

Can Tim talk about the successful suit against Men At Work for their song Down Under brought by the owners of the Kookaburra song's copyright. It seems unfair
Avatar 6:53pm Raika:

'25 or 6 to 4' and a Led Zeppelin song I can't remember off hand, which itself ripped off some older song. Anyone know those?
Avatar 6:53pm geezerette:

@Marcel @6:35 Yep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Marcel M:

hahahahhaha omg law firm. Good zinger.
  6:54pm JakeGould:

• Link Wray “Rumble”
• Adam Ant “Killer in the Home”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Nick the Bard:

@eric - so call in and ask then?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Polyus:

Manu Dibango sued both Michael Jackson and Rihanna for using 'Soul Makossa'.
  6:55pm Tommy Haynes:

What about Neil Young's Mr Soul and I Can't get No Satisfaction
Avatar 6:55pm Chris M.:

these things where it's just an octave arpeggiating are not ripoffs it's just music.
  6:56pm V Priceless:

Stones Jumpin Jack Flash
  6:56pm JakeGould:

@ChrisM: Fancy explanation!
Avatar 6:56pm Amy Vogel (not Sarah or Kathy):

Enjoying the show. This is a gentle reminder of your promise.
  6:57pm V Priceless:

...and Kinks Catch Me Now I'm Falling
Avatar 6:57pm Chris M.:

@JakeGould: i'm going to become a judge who only decides if a song is a ripoff or not.
  6:58pm JakeGould:

Killer in the Home: www.youtube.com...
  6:59pm JakeGould:

@ChrisM: Get a nice robe and there you go!
  6:59pm Torbjørn:

@amy vogel, you should call in and demand all your missing shououts ! .. I foresee an entire Amy Vogel shoutout show in the near future.
  6:59pm JakeGould:

Sounds Like Teen Spirit. www.amazon.com...
  6:59pm Bill U:

Here are 2: Traffic's "Low Spark of High Heel Boys", took from Coltrane's "Equinox"; and Steely Dan's "Ricky Don't Loose that Number" took from Horace Silver's "Song for My Father"
Avatar 7:00pm InBrkly:

next time: movies that are the same
Avatar 7:00pm Reinis:

КИНО "Когда твоя девушка больна" & the smiths "girlfriend in a coma"
Avatar 7:00pm Amy Vogel:

@Torbjørn I don't mind them piling up. I assume they will spill over into 2017...
  7:00pm P-90:

Next week: "Andy Unleashed"!
  7:03pm JakeGould:

@InBrkly: All the Star Warses
  12:49pm FJW:

What a boring episode. That was like a game show with nothing at stake. Bring back the Andy who misbehaves around the guests, please.
