Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Best I can find of a Marriott/Stewart connection is an article from July 1978 in NME describing an appearance by Marriott, under the pseudonym Matt Vinyl, with a band dubbed Blind Drunk at a London pub. "The repertoire included The Meters' 'Cissy Strut' with Stevie on keyboard, and Muddy Waters' 'I'm Ready,' retitled 'I'm Giddy' and dedicated to Rod Stewart."

Grain of salt: the article goes on to describe a similar surprise appearance by Alex Harvey. It claims he was, at the time in 1978, 104 years old. But there are photos, so it's probably legit. Another Hinky Dinky coinkidinky: the article above this piece on the page of NME is, "What Is this Thing Called Doll by Doll."

I wish there was just one Chinese restaurant around here -- even a mediocre one. We do have bad Thai and meh Japanese and OK Mexican (just don't order the margarita!) -- but no Chinese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm
Uncle Michael:

I'll bet your less than mediocre Chinese is 5x better than our best.

Lyrically, this Lovecraft seems to be the product of one those fridge poetry magnet kits. And it works.

Sire Records went with Warners
at least partly on the basis
of WEA distribution
which at the time was very strong
in North America

There's a reporter on one of the local newsradio stations here named Glenn Schuck, and for a while when ever I'd hear him wrapping up a report with "I'm Glenn Schuck" I'd say to myself "he just don't give a fuck."
