Live Performance by Chris Moore with Tom Gavin
After a punkier musical start as Negative Approach's drummer, Chris Moore settled into a gentler approach becoming a muti-instrumentalist, an award winning songwriter, collaborator and teacher. These days Chris fronts Moore and Sons, described as "rustic chamber folk" with his emotionally wry, conversational vocals up front. Moore just released "Harmless Blues" with another album, "Community Service," not far behind. Chris Moore, along with Tom Gavin, played some of these new tunes live for us on WFMU.

Hello Van!
Avatar 9:09pm Van in DC:

Oh and Tom of course too.

  9:11pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Hey Van,
Avatar 9:13pm Van in DC:

I'm over in the back corner, in the uncomfortable plastic blue chair, hat duffed but listening intently....hoping the two legs I'm leaning back on don't break....
Avatar 9:16pm Van in DC:

But I did bring Tuaca shots for all.

Oh. Wait. I might have already, uh, drank them all.
Avatar 9:18pm Van in DC:

You guys do know that Friday the 13th looms. Right? In a Mars Retrograde...? How ominous is THAT? We're all DOOMED I say.

Avatar 9:21pm Van in DC:

Except maybe the protection of FMU will save us. Yes. That.
Avatar 9:22pm Van in DC:

Used to be, about this time, we would be in donation season. Bring it on.
Avatar 9:23pm Van in DC:

Has anybody seen Maggie Reilly recently?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Sean, Bronwyn and Van! Are we the only ones enjoying this live performance tonight? Hope not.
Avatar 9:24pm Van in DC:

There's a cast of millions out there Irene
  9:25pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Up in three hours for work so going to doze off, catch you all soon,
Avatar 9:26pm Van in DC:

Happy dreams to you Sean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Irene Trudel:

G'nite Sean! Catch you in the archives.
Avatar 9:29pm Van in DC:

Pretty sure I'll be keeping Sean company in the archives...not yet but perhaps soon. And by soon I mean any time before midnight EST :)
  9:29pm pete:

Sounds great- as always. ;)
Avatar 9:32pm Van in DC:

yes, deceptively complicated.
Avatar 9:33pm Van in DC:

Guitar self-trained? I'm always surprised to hear that from musicians like SVE actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm adrian in mpls:

evening all! just made gnocchi for the first time!
Avatar 9:39pm Van in DC:

Live sets from Irene's show are never to be missed.

Hello Pete and Adrian!
Avatar 9:41pm Van in DC:

Irene, did you know that SVE started out on clarinet? And something else I forget. But wow. Sharon Van Etten on clarinet? Wowzers.
Avatar 9:42pm Van in DC:

Or was it oboe. I forget now. There's a song in there somewhere and SVE could find it... ;)
Avatar 9:47pm Van in DC:

There it is. Clarinet, violin, & piano studied. But trained herself on guitar. SVE. Huh. She is awesome on guitar though. en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 9:49pm Van in DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Pete and Adrian! Did not know that about SVE, Van. I was a lowly clarinet player in high school.
Avatar 9:51pm Van in DC:

Okay, was David Byrne an influence on Tom?
Avatar 9:52pm Van in DC:

Nothing lowly about the beautiful clarinet :)
Avatar 9:54pm Van in DC:

Many thanks to Chris and Tom! Live sets are always very much appreciated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Polyus:

Oops, here late. I remember seeing Chris in a Detroit band called Crossed Wire like 25 years ago. Where does the time go?
Avatar 9:56pm Van in DC:

post punk? AWESOME!
Avatar 9:58pm Van in DC:

Suishou No Fune. Find them. On FMU. And FMA. Post punk Japanese psychedelic stuff...pretty awesome. "Becoming a Flower". .... Just .... WOW!!
Avatar 9:58pm Van in DC:

Leonard! Crank it up!
  10:09pm Mrs P.:

Irene you are a treasure. Thank you for bringing us this program.
  10:09pm GeesyCreesy:

Love this Newman tune.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Ohhh I love me some Lee
  10:14pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I need more Lee Hazelwood in my life.
Avatar 10:17pm Van in DC:

My computer had massive brain freeze at the start of the Cohen song. Then, restart, then update from MS. GRRRRRR. Archives here I come.

WENDY! hi!
  10:25pm Brooklyn kid:

Thanks for the broadcast Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm neilwarren:

loved that Chris Whitley tune
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Tome:

another wonderful Tuesday night , which I look forward too Irene ,, hope this slot now is same for you too by now !
Avatar 10:33pm Van in DC:

Wow, to think that precisely one minute after this show, the Brown family will let Bobbi Christina die by lifting life support...just so she can die on the same date as Whitney...who was really a tremendous talent.

How sad. In so many ways.
  10:34pm Will:

I'd say the radio listening world is extra glad with this new slot of Irene's on TUE night.
Avatar 10:37pm Van in DC:

Oh. Yeah. this.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Believe it or not the first time I ever saw Tim Buckley was when he closed out the final Monkees episode. Even as a child I was very impressed.
Avatar 10:41pm Van in DC:

I guess Whitney's death date might not actually be the same as her only child after all. Huh. These things change so fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The Buckleys - love them so...Tim, Jeff...Lord...
Avatar 10:43pm Van in DC:

Oh snap. Just recognized this song. I love the original...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

If someone is know by the company they keep, The Monkees would be all set.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I agree Rabbit. They even had Zappa on the show once! (It was the first time I saw him too.)
Avatar 10:51pm Van in DC:

Hello Klause Shulze
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I guess Jon Stewart is leaving The Daily Show some time this year. I wonder who will replace him.
  10:57pm KP:

Hiya, Irene
Avatar 10:57pm Van in DC:

Now see? If you put in a little Mike Oldfield here with Maggie Reilly? Wowzers.

(I'll shut up now. good night.)
  11:00pm Mrs P.:

Goodnight all and thank you Irene for your program.
  11:09pm dickscumrok:

Elizabeth Frazier. Now theres a woman with a voice.
  11:15pm KP:

Soft Materials still edgy
  11:26pm Carmichael:

Oh, hi everyone. Cooking up a steak and hanging around the mancave. Pardon me while I peruse the playlist.
  11:32pm KP:

Nice Wayne Shorter
  11:33pm JakeGould:

Hey folks.
  11:33pm Carmichael:

The kids called me into the Grammies to watch AC/DC. Otherwise I was in la la land.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm Irene Trudel:

Ah, my late-niters are here! ;) Carm, you didn't miss much on the Grammys from what I could tell. Same awkward pairings, artists making ridiculous speeches and pretty people galore. I did like the ELO performance though.
Avatar 11:39pm Mugsy:

Pick you up on 91.1, wonderful to hear you tonight have a nice week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Jake. How ya feelin'?
  11:51pm Carmichael:

Irene, I was wondering about the ELO/Jeff Lynne ratio. Those other guys looked pretty young. I did see Tony Bennett smiling at Angus Young, which was a brain sprain for me.
  11:52pm Bill Domanico:

Irene have to tell you I love listening to you every Tues night on my way home from work. Took a while to adjust to you in the evening as I' m sure it was for you. By the way Shanghai Noodle Factory was on Traffic's third album " Last Exit"
Avatar 11:55pm gongoleer:

Hi Irene & Goodnight. Couldn't listen tonight. Busy shoveling out form under mounds of snow snow snow. Hope your world audience is well and in good spirits. Hear you next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

Have a good week, Irene. Five more weeks of winter (or something like that)!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:25am Sean in Bristol UK:
