We back, baby?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Amanda:

Hi bpd! I'm back! (Your comment seems to be a cultural reference that I am not hip to, but I can answer the question implied.)
Avatar 11:58am bpd:

Not really. Just undercaffinated and punchy. But hooray!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am listener james from westwood:

Koi Dog Pondering?
Avatar 11:59am Mugsy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Amanda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Amanda:

Welcome Mugsy, Listener James, and all! The trip was awesome.
Avatar 12:01pm KP:

Happy whatever year it is!
Avatar 12:02pm Dominick:

Hello and welcome back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm doctorjazz:

Sounds like a heavy Four Seasons vibe, nice tune
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Carmichael:

Good morning Amanda and others. Finally here on time, for once.
  12:08pm Sean:

Yippee! AManda's back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Uncle Michael:

Nick Lowe goes country
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Telecasters fer everybody...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Uncle Michael:

Brinsleys went country quite a lot.
Avatar 12:13pm KP:

Yep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Carmichael:

Country music was a little cooler in England back then.
Avatar 12:16pm KP:

For some reason country and related never really clicked in England. I think they never forgave us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Uncle Michael:

Boldly go, Amanda!
Avatar 12:20pm coelacanth:

olá Amanda; compadres.
  12:20pm josh:

Those opening chords were troubling. Thanks for playing the proper version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm listener james from westwood:

Weird Al's first record was my first vinyl purchase. Still somewhere @ my dad's house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Amanda:

I'm not sure if I love Weird Al or Huey Lewis more, but luckily they can coexist on that one record.
Avatar 12:24pm coelacanth:

(i agree with josh)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm listener james from westwood:

Diggin' this electronic cut!
Avatar 12:28pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar 12:28pm coelacanth:

...from when men were men and keyboards were keyboards.
  12:28pm Flash Strap:

I think they reished that Else Marie purely in hopes that someone would use it in transition from a Weird Al cut
Avatar 12:31pm coelacanth:

it's not as bad as a doctor "correcting" you when you call him "mr. _".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd love to attend the Simpsons meet-up, but I can only send my best wishes that it turns out well. Let us know if there are pictures of the event.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm listener james from westwood:

Likewise; Brooklyn midweek is rough for this NJ dweller. Hugely supportive of the concept, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Amanda:

I am going to take pictures!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm efd:

Amanda, is "Children Of Australia" (the flip side) any good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm listener james from westwood:

Amanda's playing the elephant song again. Makes me think of elephants.
Avatar 12:43pm ndbob:

I see a set filled with rodent references:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Amanda:

@efd, "Children of Australia" is a bit jingoistic for me, but it's interesting as a historical document.
Avatar 12:53pm KP:

EVery Mother's Son! They recorded something else?
Avatar 12:53pm KP:

Terry Knight was right to fire himself.
Avatar 12:54pm ndbob:

a bunch of songs KP - best known for "Come on Down to My Boat Baby"
Avatar 12:54pm ndbob:

but an album and many 45s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Carmichael:

KP, they had an actual album. I remember having it at one point.
Avatar 12:56pm KP:

Love "My Boat." Never heard a drop of anything else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah huh ! - always interesting to hear more behind a OneHitWonder...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Jeff Golick:

Almost played her Jolene this morning!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Amanda:

Awesome Jeff!

Every Mother's Son are so good. The album Carmichael describes is really excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm listener james from westwood:

Amoeba is on my "gotta get my ass back to LA" list. Didn't know about it on my first visit. Also want to hit Musso & Frank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm listener james from westwood:

I come for the Weird Al, I stay for the high-test album geekery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm efd:

The song "Allison Dozier" on that Every Mother's Son LP is outstanding.
Avatar 1:04pm ndbob:

actually there are two EMS Lps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm efd:

(I was referring to the s/t one that Carmichael and Amanda were referencing)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Amanda:

Right u are, ndbob! This was their first one.
  1:06pm Dean:

Musso & Frank is *so* fun. Amoeba opened, naturally, the year after we left L.A., dagnabbit. There are a handful of less exhaustive record stores: Record Surplus on Santa Monica Blvd. (alas, a shadow of its former Pico site), Soundstations near LAX, etc.
Avatar 1:07pm ndbob:

Don't think I've ever heard the second one
Avatar 1:07pm Dominick:

Yes, 2nd LP "Every Mother's Son's Back" Both produced by Wes Farrell, who also wrote "Come on Down". You could see they were real young in session photos taken by engineer George Showerer on Spectropop. Another great EMS song "Put Your Mind at Ease"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Carmichael:

Boy, this sounds more like the Four Seasons than the Foundations. Is that Clem Curtis singing?
  1:12pm Flash Strap:

Show is dynamite today, such pleasure. Gettin me through my workin hours

  1:20pm Josh M:

On behalf of France, welcome back! LSC will perform live on EFD 2/11 !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm listener james from westwood:

That one henchman with the asterisk-hair comes to mind.
Avatar 1:23pm northguineahills:

The Sparticus moment....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I like how the radio sports announcers make it sound so dramatic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm listener james from westwood:

awesome Martin voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...SimpsonsTime! is like speedcartooning...love it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Also liked how Martin's nose cone was turning red from the speed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm listener james from westwood:

BLRFQ is as cromulent a Scrabble word as QWYJIBO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Carmichael:

Oh, bloody hell. This is the syrupiest ballad ever. EVER.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm listener james from westwood:

Likewise had never heard that cut. Had never heard "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves" before the sushi ep!
  1:35pm P-90:

Happy Birthday Amanda! (and Bobby Goldsboro)
Avatar 1:36pm ndbob:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Jeff Golick:
