Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Liz Berg:

Greetings folks, we'll make it through this Monday business yet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Sullivan Ballou:

Hi Liz! Its a 'Bank Holiday' here so no Monday Blues for us Brits (or Scots!)!
Avatar 9:14am CZECHANO:

Morning Liz and all. Taking the day off to be with the kiddo, you're playing some chill morning nap time music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Liz Berg:

Good to see we have some folks who are not on the job today as well!
Avatar 9:23am KP:

Good Monday, Liz
  9:29am kosta:

Hey all, just nearly got hit by a bus whos driver saw me crossing on the zebra, but decided to ignore me. Im shaking!!!
  9:32am kosta:

I guess i shoudda known, this is Kathmandu after all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am Liz Berg:

Scary stuff, kosta! Glad you are ok. Can't believe the driver saw you and still went for it! This ain't no video game. Even in Kathmandu.
Avatar 9:38am dc pat:

hi folks. Sorry kosta, it's getting crazier and crazier out there...
  9:38am kosta:

Thanks Liz, true say, the zebra is only a couple of months old, i hope these bus drivers learn that swerving away from me and into the zebra and my path isnt the right way! Not in ktm, not anywhere? PS im a life long cyclist and pedestrian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Liz Berg:

I was in Philly over the weekend: bought a hoagie from a Wawa!
  9:39am KP:

  9:40am ans:

@ liz: what's a hoagie from a wawa???
  9:44am KP:

Avatar 9:45am dc pat:

LizB, I think we should keep it right about here. I don't know what here is but it's working for me..

  9:50am ans:

@ liz:oooo, I already thought it would be something totally ordinary, but for me as a non-american, it sounded totally weird........like some kind of fairy tale riddle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am thriftstoreleather:

super great show Liz! mornin'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am thriftstoreleather:

Philly loves their WaWa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Liz Berg:

As a non-native East coaster, I am still amused by all of the regional terms for sandwiches in this part of the U.S. Hoagie, hero, grinder, sub, etc. And Wawa is such a hilarious name for a convenience store!
Avatar 9:54am dc pat:

and too many giant cars with people talking on phones...that's my biggest problem.
Avatar 9:54am dc pat:

..and don't forgot Po' Boy. But that's only in Louisiana
  9:55am ?:

Or piggley wiggly, as a name for a grocery store... in the south
  9:56am KP:

I was stuck in Philly for almost a week. Delighted to find there that a huge cappuccino cost same as a huge coffee but is of course much better for you
  9:57am KP:

At WaWa
  9:59am kosta:

Dc, the danger list is like this. Here, for me , at least: buses, taxis, motorcyclists, suvs and phone users, and finally cows. Sacred, so they roam, causing all sorts of swerving and jams. Pretty mental!
  10:01am kosta:

My old london favourite. The Fat Bastard.
2 sausage, 4 rashers of bacon and some healthy fresh tomato, all on white white stodgy half baguette... And butter!
Avatar 10:02am dc pat:

similar list here (outside of cows) but put a phone in any driver's hand and they become a drunk driver and top the list.
  10:04am kosta:

Unacceptable dude, phone in car, even hands free.
Avatar 10:04am dc pat:

exactly, doesn't matter if hands free or not.
  10:04am kosta:

To quote el berg, this aint no video game!!
10:05am Pete L in Columbus Ohio:

Οπα παιδιά, τσιφτέλη!!,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Jeroen Kuster:

good morning all
what a good start
  10:15am kosta:

Nooo bollus!!!!
Avatar 10:16am dc pat:

it's important to point out that ALL drivers become bad drivers when talking on the phone...ok I'm done with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am Ike:

Re: sandwiches: @kosta, Kathmandu doesn't have bánh mì, does it? That's my favorite kind of sandwich. Pork and pickled veggies on a crispy baguette! But that was never a French colony as far as I recall, so I'm guessing no.
  10:22am kosta:

And now they wanna introduce whole entertainment systems in cars...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am common:

drivers in philly seem to hate pedestrians and bikes. sammiches? I made some permanti brothers sammiches the other day. my version. cheese, fries and slaw on a roll. Yum!
  10:23am ans:

in the netherlands they sell a dish with fries and ground nut sauce, mayonaise, ketchup and onions and the call it "hospital fries" and there is one with ground nut sauce and mayonaise they call it 'war fries'.....they have all kinds of crazy names for dishes with fries...fries waterbicycle, fries hairdresser.....

  10:28am kosta:

Ike, not come across that here, sounds great tho! Bread and the whole sandwich idea is not everyday fare here. Wanna hear what the street food is? Cant help ya, i stay well away from it, just like anyone with half an ounce of sense would... Does.
  10:30am kosta:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am Ike:

@kosta, IDK about Nepal but much street food in other SE Asian countries is excellent, esp. the crispy crunchy fried bananas. Carpe diem (or carpe foodum). Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam have the French influence & thus have great street baguettes everywhere too, w/lovely sandwich fixings.
Avatar 10:38am Mdurek:

Haha "Turnip" ?
  10:39am kosta:

Ike, my buv been all over se asia, says exactly the same. He also wont partake of ktm street food!

@RTD, I like that. That's my favorite new motto from now on, or at least until Tuesday.
Avatar 10:48am dc pat:

Pan Ron is my new favorite thing on Earth.
Avatar 10:49am dc pat:

There better be a fucking Cambodian food truck outside my building! Screw that, it better drive into my building, up the elevator and park right over there.
Avatar 10:49am dc pat:

Avatar 10:50am drumsoverbogota:

indeed dc pat, everything needs more Pan Ron
Avatar 10:51am drumsoverbogota:

Actually, in spanish that could mean "Bread Rum" and I really like both of them :P
Avatar 10:52am Rev. Turnip Druid:

The food trucks are still gathering over here. Not sure what delights are in store... hoping for delights, anyway..
Avatar 10:53am dc pat:

I DEMAND delights.
Avatar 10:54am dc pat:

"I demand to have some booze!" remember that from Withnell and I? hilarious.
Avatar 10:54am Rev. Turnip Druid:

"I feel unusual."
Avatar 10:55am dc pat:

precisely Rev, and "FORK IT!"
  10:55am kosta:

Ike, there are loads of patisserie places here, and french cuisine, popular stuff. No country has managed to really get a foothold here, so it is a bit hit and miss for what is in europe, a daily ting!
Avatar 10:56am dc pat:

That was a killer Equals tune.
Avatar 10:58am dc pat:

funny story LizB. I wonder what they listen to...
  10:58am kosta:

What the scene now in cambodia? Edm doooom
Avatar 10:58am Chris from DC:

Circle lent the name to a death metal band recently.
Avatar 10:59am Mdurek:

When is RTD coming to nyc ?
Avatar 11:01am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Mdurek: I've been lax in planning around Frantasia -- maybe on the way up to Maine ahead of the fest (or back/afterwards) . Jeez, that's coming up almost soon (!)
Avatar 11:02am Mdurek:

LOL symbols of the tri-state area. The possibilities..
  11:03am kosta:

Want t shirt!
Avatar 11:03am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Liz, I have a east/west coast tshirt war with myself. I think I have about 5 tshirts from Santa Cruz skate shop. I can't get enough of that screaming hand and skater graphics.
  11:04am KP:

Liz Berg continues to be a dynamic force in entertainment.
Avatar 11:04am Whosondephone:

What Synthesizer is that?
Avatar 11:04am CZECHANO:

You need some third coast t-shirts, Houston, NOLA, and Mobile to go nuclear on that tshirt war.(;
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Parq:

May I be so forward as to suggest a new term, Bergin' -- a verb meaning to work frantically beyond what anyone would consider humanly possible, achieving commensurate results. As in, "Wow, that supervisor in Graphics and Media is really Bergin' this week."
Avatar 11:04am steve:

many moons ago a ladyfriend made me an iron on lettered shirt that said "Steve And His Package" (in honor of our mutual love of Atom & His Package, of course)
Avatar 11:06am Mdurek:

Haha, Steve, and now they can use that as a poster for your Harestworks project!
Avatar 11:07am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Oh the days of iron-on tshirt shops. I remember them well. All it took was one bout in the dryer and all that work was ruined.
Avatar 11:09am steve:

the iron on prints you could print out on your inkjet printer always kinda sucked... but iron on letters from a craft store generally held up pretty well in my experience.
  11:09am kosta:

Homemade tees... Now that takes me back. A great gift to give, a great gift to receive
Avatar 11:10am steve:

Mike right now its either that, or unpronounceable symbol. im bad at naming things...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Mike East:

the bar I used to work at had previously been in business selling iron on tee shirts. About 50% of them were "9/11 Never Forget" themed. When business was struggling at the bar, they gave away a teeshirt with every drink. They closed down and turned it into a hipster bar.
  11:17am ans:

this sounds like german wave....always good for a laugh these germans....
Avatar 11:18am Mdurek:

Why is Berg'n seemingly the only country that identifies as being from said county? I've never announced myself as being from Middlesex , but I think I might start.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Liz Berg:

I hope someone brought a black turtleneck to the radio today.
Avatar 11:19am Chris from DC:

Great set here.
Avatar 11:20am dc pat:

we're going to need a LOT of black turtlenecks around here. Maybe there's a black turtleneck truck out front.
