Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02am
Guido from Cologne:

Is NyQuil the drug Lester Bangs took (one bottle of) in order to be able to enjoy a Tangerine Dream concert and then had the vision of crowds of housewives with shopping bags?
  5:06am
Meghan:

There was a bunch of guys in my dorm that used to drink Robotussin. NyQuil would just make them fall asleep
  5:08am
Meghan:

Oh no!!! Police barricades?! What was going down?!?!
Avatar 5:08am
fred von helsing:

Robotussin sounds like a dance that's sort of like locking
Avatar 🦇 5:09am

Not a clue, but I came across clusters of police cars twice between the tunnel and here, and lots of orange cones blocking the intersection where the tunnel turn off is

aww Elwyn :(
Avatar 5:23am
Matt from Springfield:

Morning Julie, everyone!
And yes, NyQuil tends to put you to sleep more often than not (sometimes I want that deep sedation)--that's why the 'tussin is used in "syrup" or "drank" mixes. Also, the ZzzQuil sleep med chemcial is nothing more than Benadryl, don't waste yer moolah.
Avatar 5:24am
Matt from Springfield:

Oh no, hope you feel better soon Elwyn!
Avatar 🦇 5:25am
Julie:

I've had sleepless nyquil nights and sleepless benadryl nights
Avatar 5:27am
Matt from Springfield:

Sleepless on *Ny*Quil?! Wow, feel for you if you were sick and STILL couldn't sleep even on NyQuil! I guess you have more Insomniac cred than the rest of us ;)
Avatar 🦇 5:28am
Julie:

I think I adapt quickly. If I take it more than once or twice it stimulates me instead
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am
Guido from Cologne:

in an older discussion about insomnia i alredy mentioned "overdose of fresh garlic". Expands blood vessels. Kinda opposite to coffee.
  5:30am
Elwyn:

Benadryl was the only way I could stop my nighttime coughing fits and get any sleep a few weeks ago.
Avatar 5:31am
fred von helsing:

Garlic huh? Once as an experiment I ate an entire head one day and another head the next day. My mucus membranes were so damned irritated I couldn't hardly sleep. It was cool.

depends on sice of garlic-heads.
a quarter of a big one should do.
Avatar 5:37am
Matt from Springfield:

While we're still on the subject, I recently found out about a benzo called temazepam often used for insomnia--and that one of its nicknames is "Mazzies"--I wonder if that's a connection to Mazzy Star. I don't see an origin story for their name, but Mazzies sound like they may have been used on the Paisley scene Mazzy Star came from.
Avatar 5:38am
Matt from Springfield:

Hmm, interesting Grace/Paul side project!

This track is on Flight Log (a 2-album set of JA/JS and all the various side projects).

from my experience benzos produce weird dreams an make depressive. Only available with doctors receipt in Germany.
Avatar 🦇 5:41am
Julie:

I will have to check that one out!
Avatar 5:43am
Whooda:

I've been roasting my garlic lately. I could eat that stuff with a spoon.
Avatar 5:44am
Matt from Springfield:

@Guido: Also available only by prescription in the US, but of course are frequently abused. Weird dreams are a by-product of several different drugs, I guess anything affecting the brain can do that.
Avatar 5:45am

Holy Mackerel, it's old Paul Williams!
Get a fish blessed, and cover it with garlic! For we shall feast tonight!...

audiolog:

Hello, July! Greetings from St.Petersburg, RF. I would introduce russian-belorussian dream-pop group Nevguen. There is an album of 2013 http://nevguen.bandcamp.com/
I believe it would be interesting for you (especially for you in wfmu :-) ). Sometimes I communicate with Marina Nevgen (by e-mail). She is leader, author of lyrics and singer of this group. They have influences of 4AD artists, 'Bristol sounds' groups and russian-belorussian folksongs also. I think these are right influenses.
