Love Ascention! I too have it on vinyl from 99. and esg and...Very fun place. I already pledged once during Andy Breckman soak to double the $ and have no more. But I love your show and Dave's and hope I can find some money on the street or something now or next year to give more to FMU.
This sounds familiar and great...but to hear it live WAS transcendent. 3x. Once in the tiny Tier3, where I heard Liquid Liquid and Dog Eat Dog and Rhys Chatham. Crazy teen life and yes, I will say...some good ole days. Thanks for playing Branca and so much great music.

I really got a lot out of seeing Hunter, and I don't mean to disparage it, but I thought Cape Fear was better -- for me, way more unnerving. The everyday, candid presentation of the events in Fear made it more believable, and therefore way more terrifying. Just one guy's opinion.

Avatar 5:36pm
Caryn:

@Parq: I agree that "Cape Fear" has an edge of reality that "Hunter" doesn't, but I feel that's the point of "Hunter". It's supposed to be more about mood, almost like a slightly surreal nightmare. Laughton was closer to the mood of German cinema, which I suspect is one reason "Hunter" was not popular when it was first released.
