  12:22pm KevinWho:

  12:23pm KevinWho:

which will save having to deal with not drinking for Lent ....
Avatar 12:23pm MattBelow:

This is a fantastic start!

Laissez les bon temps porc rouler!
Let the good time pork roll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm fleep:

Paczki, pronounced PUNCH-key, are Polish jelly-filled doughnuts, traditionally served just prior to Lent. @tim They sound yummy
Avatar 12:26pm kat330:

@geokopp: Was away in the kitchen gettin' lunch and prepping for a jambalaya I'll be cooking a bit later. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Fuzzy:

Howdy all! Who brought the beignets?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Mike East:

jambalaya has been coming up a lot lately...a co worker had some for lunch yesterday, and out of nowhere, unrelated, my boss says, Mike, I'll bet you make a great jambalaya.
I think you've settled my weekend menu, kat330. Any tips are appreciated.

Hi Joe B!
Avatar 12:29pm kat330:

@Fuzzy: Of all the wonderful tastes in NOLA, beignets were not high on our list, but I have plenty of jambalaya to go around -- that is, when I get around to fixing it.
Avatar 12:30pm KP:

Who dat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm tim from champaign:

@Fleep - authentic paczkis have like 2000 calories apiece. In places like Hamtramck, MI there are paczki eating contests. I bet I can eat at least 2. 3 if my reputation was on the line. I bet Todd-O-Phonic could put away 4. How many could the Mighty Joe B knock back?
Avatar 12:30pm kat330:

@Mike: It boiled down (pun intended I guess) to what ingredients I already had on hand. Jambalaya won.
Avatar 12:32pm MissV:

Holla from Manhattan Daily Snooze !
Avatar 12:35pm Joe B:

hey Miss V!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Fuzzy:

@kat: I had honest-to-goodness NO Jambalaya when I was down there, and yes, it rocks! I'm sure yours does too! Only asked for beignets cuz I'm drinking coffee now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Wretch:

If you need to continue your Mardi Gras music fix, I don't think Joe would mind me mentioning WWOZ.org.
Avatar 12:40pm Cheri Pi:

Greetings JB!
Avatar 12:41pm kat330:

@Fuzzy: Not much in to sweet stuff, esp. the bread-based sweets, like doughnuts, etc. But the hot, spicy dishes, yumm!
  12:46pm Woo:

Dave Clark Five is now DC2.
  12:48pm geokopp:

Heading down to JazzFest this year; first time ever to NOLA. Any suggestions everybody, musts to see - do?
  12:52pm gSkidmark:

@geokopp: drink heavily
  12:52pm John L:

"They still make vinyl?"
  12:53pm Marmalade Kitty:

The vocal sounds like Simon Lebon :)
Avatar 12:53pm kat330:

@geokopp: We were there at Christmas 2007, first and only visit. Not very representative of the experience, I'm sure, both because of holiday closings and Katrina's devastation still evident. We stayed in the Marigny at a great B&B. If you want that info, email me.
  1:01pm geokopp:

@gskid: sage advice!
@kat330: already set for hotel, thx.
Avatar 1:04pm deeseepat:

any DC5 tunes today?
  1:12pm gSkidmark:

@geokopp: Willie Maes Scotch House. Best Fried chicken on Earth
  1:13pm geokopp:

I never heard of Kurt Baker before but they really killed it at the maxwell's show last week! Excellent Explorers Club set too!
Avatar 1:18pm jljl:

For casual New Orleans style, Coops on Decatur and for breakfast or greasy burgers, Clover Grill further down Bourbon St. It's 24 hrs.

  1:58pm Dennis Diken:

Kevin! Sir Lord Windsor! greetings!
  1:59pm John L:

@MK: You might appreciate the NOLA pic in the lower R. on my profile page, click to see the sign. :)
  2:05pm John L:

It's also Michael McDonald's birthday. Maybe you could play "Ride Like The Wind" by Christopher Cross.
  2:07pm KevinWho:

@John L: that old SCTV bit, recreating McDonald's trip to the RLTW studio session, is one of the great rock-music parodies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Stevel:

Joe B: Great fill in on Saturday. I'm in and out today, so I'll be visiting the archives for sure.
  2:12pm Stace:
