Listener comments!

  1:05pm fred:

Good afternoon and merry Christmas Rex. I'm so looking forward to this show
  1:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

On this, the day after the Mayan Apocalypse, I thought the only person left alive would be the guy in the fur-lined fallout shelter miles below the earth's crust.
  1:08pm Mailman Tom:

Don Knotts had a rock 'n' roll band named Banana and the Bunch, they appeared on The Steve Allen Show back in the day. Got any of their 45s?
  1:09pm Listener Jumpy from Brooklyn:

Have a cool yule with a ghoul.
  1:15pm Deb O'Nair:

Hi Rex ! Always love your Xmas show ! Could you please plug my Holiday Exhibit at The Muerchants House Museum called "From Candlelight to Bubble-Lites" A 1950's Christmas in an 1850's Home. 29 E. 4th St. NYC btwn Bowery & Lafayette. Thurs - Mons. 12noon to 5pm through Jan. 7th 2013. www.merchantshouse.org/calander Thanks so much for another year of great platters a' spinnin' !
  1:18pm Tidepoolbay:

Keep it greasey!

Merry Christmas!
  1:31pm Eric:

what was that laughing Santa song!!! that was sooooo funny!
  1:36pm Listener Jumpy from Brooklyn:

GREEN ACRES, BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, PETTICOAT JUNCTION are all in the universe w/ their story arcs as we call them now.
  1:36pm fred von helsing:

recall the classic Variety headline when they cancelled those shows (Petticoat Junction et al.) en masse: Hix Nix Stix Flix
  1:37pm Listener Jumpy from Brooklyn:

  1:55pm Andy in Berlin:

@ Fred - I believe you're referring to this?
  1:57pm Dave E.:

Is Rex drooling yet?
  1:58pm hendrix wolfbat:

is that cocktail poured over ice or is it a shooter?
  2:03pm lopez:

That recording (the weird beard psych-out) changed Christmas for me forever. AMAZING record, thanks!
  2:06pm On the Yazoo:

Stick nix hick pix.
thats the "Rural Purge".
They canceled every show with a tree in it.
What happened is that the accountants found out the rural and mainly older viewers weren't falling for the advertising gimicks, so they canceled all those shows and targeted the urban viewers which were more susceptible to advertising, and would buy their products. All about money.
  2:06pm On the Yazoo:

And great show.
2:08pm THE ayatolla of bin loaded:

merry ho ho every body!
  2:18pm hendrix wolfbat:

re: cocktail; because it'd be fun to make it at a late "morning after the end of the world" brunch....wish i could see Deb O'Nairs holiday decorations .great show, happy next age y'all...
  2:18pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Happy Holidays to everybody in the garland-lined fallout shelter!
  2:48pm marc:

Rex, a couple of Christmases ago you played "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by a Chinese singer--early 50s I think you said--Harry Chan?
  2:50pm Robert:

Heavy drinking used to be considered practically an occupational requirement of journalists.
  2:55pm Mike:

Hey Rex, how dare you disparage your bearded Williamsburg listenership. Puts you and Gaylord on a par with the hippie hater and beatnik hater music that you play.
Anyway, otherwise enjoying your
Christmas Special, even if you are a
Scrooge about our nice sweaters
and beards.
2:59pm THE ayatolla of bin loaded:

it was heavy drinking that led to the loud leditters to the editors. What could have been bediter?
  3:02pm fred von helsing:

@andy Yup! I guess I misquoted'em huh
  12:30pm Tristan:

I'll second the request for wanting to know what the terrifying laughing santa song was. It played around the 26 minute mark and it's not on the list. I absolutely must find it, it is poetry.
  11:43am Santa's Lil' Helper:

That Santa song with the terrifying laughter was "Jolly Santa Claus" by Jack Moon on Aardell...
