Listen at the gym Elwyn!
  6:16am Chuck:

See ya, Elwyn! How would you say "My pants are full of plutonium.", Dave?
  6:20am Dave B:

I am not sure Chuck. Hopefully Ali or the boys are listening in and can chime in. All I really know is how to count, and how to write my name.

Hows the comp Meghan?

They are such great guys..... It was the easiest interview ever..... Plus we have already had a lot of the conversations previously.
  6:48am Ron Popeil:

Order NOW and we'll throw in this video of Meghan taking a sledgehammer to her computer! NOW how much would you pay?
  6:49am other david:

Todays theme; awesomeness
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49am Meghan:

hahaha! The temptation is very very huge!
  6:50am Gary:

Good morning Meghan. Are you ok without your home computer? Thanks for waking me with Talking Heads
  6:51am Dave B:

Meghan - I know we spoke of a rebuild of the old computer. Could still do it in a few hours, and get your music back in action. Contact me if thats an option before your gigs.
  6:52am Chuck:

Didn't you just get a new computer, Meghan? It's not working already?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53am Meghan:

I am swinging by Apple today to demand a new computer and giving them no other option. Though, if my demands aren't met...... we shall talk Dave.

Morning Gary!
  6:54am Ron Popeil:

Operators are standing by! Accept no substitutes!
  6:55am Gary:

Behind the music we'll do a computer tech talk show. Mine complained of an error too. When the show's over I'll go back for the interview with the Yellow dogs. I want to hear it so much.
  6:59am Dave B:

Curious. Did the subject of religion ever come up? Back in the mid 70s when my family could come over for the holidays I remember Ebbie sitting down at the table with a glass of Drambuie and a plate of pork roast. He looked up, then to his wife (my moms cousin Helga) and said "I'm a baaad muslim" before digging in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am Meghan:

ha! No we didn't talk religion. It's like Jeff eating shrimp, oysters, mussels and lobster and thinking he's being kosher
  7:09am Caryn:

Hello all! Friggin' computer, made me miss the first hour of the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am Meghan:

Don't even get me started about computers Caryn! But I am glad you made it none the less!
  7:20am Gary:

Yesterday MEMRI took a break from media and published a photo of Faludeh in Tehran, a sweet mixture of noodles, rosewater, crushed ice, and various syrups.
  7:20am Dave B:

One more for the End of Year...

  7:23am Chuck:

So, where can these guys music be procured, Meghan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25am Meghan:

I ask them at the end of the interview..... EMusic has the latest album. Can't remember where they told me the first EP is......
  7:25am timurf:

danced my way out of bed just now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am Meghan:

Now that is a great way to wake up.... dancing out of bed!
  7:28am Dave B:

Looks like you've created a few fans.

And anyone in NYC in search of any Persian sundries, check out Nader Food Mart on East 28 (between 5 and Madison).
  7:29am timurf:

mmm hmm! : )
  7:30am Gary:

Thanks Dave, I thought it was you mentioned the Persian food.
  7:36am Dave B:

I've got me some rosewater I've used for other dishes. Now I have a tasty (and easy) desert to try
  7:37am catpatz:

they have a yellow dogs ep on emusic. i went to the site to see if they were there and there was a banner ad for them - its one of the albums featured right now.
  7:48am Chuck:

How many times in one sentence can you use the word "like"...
  7:50am Gary:

While shopping for Filipino food, I came across rose water from UAE. My extended family really loved Turkish delight and rose cake. Yellow Dogs have very nice voices. I like to hear them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am Meghan:

Remember, they are in their 20's and English is their second language.....
  7:53am duke:

Thanks Meghan. This was great.
  7:54am Chuck:

Just an observation, Meg...
  7:55am Gary:

I've read news of Iran rapper being sentenced to death for violating their government's standards. I'm happy to hear this show at the same time.
  7:57am Caryn:

Recently there's been a lot of news about heavy metal fans and emo kids being harassed, beated, forcibly shaved and even killed in Iran, Iraq and the Philippines... Sheesh.
  7:57am Dave B:

Probably Hichkas (from the movie).
  7:59am Gary:

Philippines? I thought their society was more open than those two? I want to read more, Caryn.
  8:00am The Iron Sheikh:

Iran, Number One !
  8:01am Gary:

Meghan, how did they choose the name The Yellow Dogs? Only use of that term I know is in US politics it's not related to them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02am Meghan:

You know.... I have no idea Gary! I have never asked them! If any of them are listening..... chime in!
  8:03am Dave B:

Thela Hun Ginjeet = Heat In The Jungle.

Just shuffle the letters around. No foreign language required.
  8:03am Caryn:

@Gary: well, in the Philippines it's only been harassment and head shaving. The beatings and killings have been limited to the other two. A few months ago, several dozen emos (though some reports put the number as high 300) were rounded up and forcibly shaved by the authorities in the Philippines for supposedly "giving the nation a bad image". It does seem like in recent months, there's been more news of this kind.
  8:05am Dave B:

if a few emo kids can give the Phillipines a bad image, then WTF is this all about?

  8:05am duke:

I think rounding people up and shaving their heads gives a worse image than a bunch of emos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am Meghan:

I agree Duke! That is messed up
  8:05am jeff p:

Dave B: just a reminder, Meghan's old computer has had some stuff spilled on it....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am Meghan:

it was bottom not top
  8:06am Gary:

Thank you Caryn. I went to Philippines. I learned about Music and society there, but there is much I still don't know!
  8:07am Caryn:

Maybe I should clarify that harassment and head shaving also happens in the other two, but they ratchet up the abuse to actual violence and killing too.

And damn straight, footage of teens being held down and shaved is not going to make me go "oh well, now the Philippines is a nice place to visit".
  8:08am Chuck:

Speaking of not knowing something, what the hell is an "emo"? Never heard the term before...
  8:08am Dave B:

@Jeff P - did it? Well, if push comes to shove I have an old 2.16 ghz motherboard if ya wanna get hard core. Its from a similar laptop as your old.
  8:09am Gary:

As told to me by American teens, "Emo" is emotive, like theater, drama, and acting. It's exaggerating emotions, but more than emotions themselves. And it's more than wearing black.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am Meghan:

"emo" is short for emotional. I'd say I would have been emo back in the day, but thank god the term didn't exist. I think a more sympathetic version of goth, who cries more! ha!
  8:10am duke:

  8:10am Caryn:

@Chuck: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo

I always think of it as "goth lite with a dash of hipster".
  8:10am Emo Phillips:

I was first!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11am Meghan:

ha! EMO!!!! I love Emo Phillips!
  8:11am Chuck:

I can only think that it's just another label to stick on people now...
  8:12am Gary:

Meg, I know some 14 year old kids who would've complained at being called "emotional" but you might be right. Hello The Free Keys, first time hearing you too.
  8:12am Caryn:

And to tie in with the earlier discussion: "In 2008 "anti-emo" groups attacked teenagers in Mexico City, Querétaro, and Tijuana.
In Russia, a law was presented at the Duma to regulate emo websites and forbid emo style at schools and government buildings, for fears of emo being a "dangerous teen trend" promoting anti-social behaviour, depression, social withdrawal and even suicide.
In May 2010 in Saudi Arabia, the religious police in the city of Dammam arrested 10 emo girls for allegedly offensive un-Islamic behaviour and dress. In March 2012 reports by human rights activists suggested that, in a single month, Shia militias in Iraq had shot or beaten to death up to 58 young Iraqi emos.
  8:14am Jefff:

Where is Bosco?
  8:14am Dave B:

Now Chuck, you should know...

If you're gonna stick labels on people, THIS should be the one!!!

  8:16am Caryn:

@Dave B: hah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am Meghan:

GASP!!! Where is Bosco? I was playing Yellow Dogs, but I seem to have a Brown Dog next to me.... He demanded to come. I opened the door and he ran out into the hall was NOT coming back in
  8:19am Chuck:

Need additional stickers for "grade A" and "prime cut", Dave! heheh....
  8:20am Gary:

Iraq and Iran, Saudi Arabia it's the religious police and government authority who threaten the emos. I wonder who threatens them in Philippines. is it their peers, the church or the government?
  8:21am Caryn:

@Gary: well, the mass shaving was a government thing, but apparently the every-day harassment is usually cops or just random citizens, though I suspect some of the reasoning behind it is religious.
  8:22am Chuck:

It really never surprizes me at all that some people will be persecuted just for being different. It's been that way since humans stood upright...
  8:24am Caryn:

Shout out, Dave!
  8:29am Dave B:

That show we went to was fun.

Re: the Phillipines situation. They have a pretty radical muslim minority.
  8:31am Gary:

The muslim minority is mostly in the south near Davao , but they're scattered about. I met one or two in Manila. I'm surprised by the shaved heads. Not sure it's connected to muslim extremism or simply conservative Filipinos.
  8:32am fred von helsing:

gotta keep those single women under strict control...
  8:44am jeff p:

Have a good weekend, everyone! Good luck with your computer, Meghan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48am Meghan:

Thanks Jeff! I need it!
  8:50am Dave B:

good interview Meghan. Good hearing more of their story.

I gotta get going. Have a great week(end) folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am Meghan:

Thanks Dave!
  8:54am Dave B:

and give a holler if you're in a jam.
  8:54am fred von helsing:

very cool interview thx! it's good to know that all 'round the world them youngins can't be stopped
  8:54am Elwyn:

Back in time for the last couple of songs!
