Live Performance by The Loom (Dan DeSloover: bass; Jon Alvarez: drums; Jon Fanning: vocals, guitar, banjo; Lis Rubard: trumpet, French horn, bkg. vocals; Sarah Renfro: vocals, keyboards, floor tom)
Brooklyn-based folk-rockers The Loom named their newest album "Teeth" in honor of the physical part of you that outlasts you the longest. It's maybe a statement about legacies, and how people strive to find joy, despite life's setbacks, that will outlast their physicality. The Loom conduct their musical search with intricate percussive moments in psyche-folk infused tunes. The Loom played live on Irene's show.

  12:08pm Davice:

Home sick today, never a better day to be home sick than on Monday when your show is playing. Soothing sounds to make me feel better.
  12:08pm Van in DC:

Hi Irene & listeners. I'm stuck on a conference call/webex meeting...looking forward to switching headsets to this show soon :)
  12:13pm AndroidKBot:

Perfect music for a sunny day at the office.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Irene:

Hi folks! Happy to have you all here. We're setting up for a live performance by The Loom. Ernie Indradat is gonna engineer today so I can concentrate on the show.
  12:32pm Van in DC:

I was catching up on Sharon Van Etten's live set from Saturday's Shrunken Planet show...perfect lead-in to Irene's show :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Irene:

Oh, I haven't heard it yet. Looking forward to checking out the archive.
  12:37pm Van in DC:

You're going to really enjoy it :)

I'm looking forward to listening to THIS show...still stuck on conference call :(
  12:42pm Looms:

Hello all!
Agreed, Sharon Van Etten's and Heather Woods Broderick's sets were great as well as the interviews.
  12:46pm Van in DC:

Yay! I get to listen to the show now! :)
  1:03pm Chris from DC:

Hmm, Black Fortress of Opium. Must investigate further. Nice.
  1:03pm Davice:

Irene - What was the release year on the Black Fortress album?
  1:07pm G:

@Davice: will be?? -- looks like release date is March 6th...
  1:18pm other david:

The Loom sound fantastic
  1:31pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I agree....a very nice sound.
  1:37pm summerski:

Sarah has a great voice!! Great set. Cheers.
  1:47pm Van in DC:

Thank you The Loom!
  2:00pm Van in DC:

@Chris from DC - by the way, meant to mention that Julie frequently plays Black Fortress of Opium on her Dark Night of the Soul show. She had them in for a live set not all that long ago, also.
  2:05pm Van in DC:

You sure get a lot of wonderful live sets on your show Irene. Much appreciated! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Irene:

Hey Van! I do know about that live set because I engineered it! Black Forest of Opium were really great. Maybe I'll get them in for a session of my own, now that they have a new album.

By the way, I Love doing the live music, and I'm offering a compilation of some of these performances that I'll be offering as my premium during the Marathon next week. More on that then.
  2:25pm Looms:

To lay down on the sofa was a dangerous idea; I fell asleep and missed the live set :(
  2:36pm Davice:

Still illing but doing better since I've been imersed in all the fine music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Irene:

Hope I'm sending enough healing sounds to fix what ails ya!
  2:40pm Davice:

So far so good . . . pink eye sucks!
  2:47pm Davice:

Irene - did you have a show on saturday's after David and Goliath and before the hound many years ago on FMU?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Irene:

Yes I did, many years ago. I'm somewhat of an old-timer here at 'FMU.
  2:50pm Davice:

You haven't changed your style and I'm glad you have a 3 hour show . . . 1 hour was not enough
  2:50pm Van in DC:

Every time I see Damon & Naomi, my mind parses it as Dan & Naomi. Dan is my brother, and you can probably guess his wife's name :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Irene:

Thanks for tuning in everybody! Gotta make way for Jim Price. See you next week.
  2:59pm Van in DC:

Thanks Irene!
  3:07pm Balkan Beat:

Hey guys,

We have 5 feet of snow in Bulgaria! We ski on the street! Don't be jealous now. Coldest winter in 30 years! Maybe the world WILL end in 2012. I want come to New Jersey. Nice warm there, no?
  3:47pm Alan Cynic:

Thanks again for the play, Irene...hope you have a lovely lovey day tomorrow!
  8:10am Van in DC:

Okay, back for more because I missed SO much of this yesterday.

@Balkan Beat - not jealous at all! :) Stay warm!

@Irene - Happy Valentine's Day :)
  8:13am Van in DC:

Another nice thing about popping back in via archive, just like with Joy's performance last week, is the post-live show photographs...thanks for those Irene
  10:52am Van in DC:

Had to listen again to The Loom, and up through Sarah Renfro's really nice single...wow, she is from Denton, TX? That's close to where I came from recently, back to DC. Fellow Texan in any case :)
  11:07am Sean in Bristol, UK:

Hi Irene,
Great show, man, I miss listening in "live", fingers crossed that I can listen next Monday and do my annual pledge.
