Good luck, Chris! Blast 'em! Give 'em some of that tone!

Wilder, Dave:

So far so good. Glad you found someone from Wisconsin (where I'm originally from) to scare us properly on today's topic. Great stuff.

people don't need jobs. they need a purpose-a reason to live

Wilder, Dave:

Sounds like Elliot Gould over there. Outside of Madison, say Westfield where Dad was born, there are no minorities. He never met a black person before moving South in the 1960s and it is still like that now. I can imagine the village a Tea Party stronghold... entirely poor white people who don't know they could ever not be poor.

Hornet:

I would be amused by the "Tron: Legacy" scenario: re-purpose all the jobless into conscripted soldiers.

Wilder, Dave:

Right! The most successful politicians find a way to make us vote on our baser instincts, like jealousy. Fear is another favorite.

at some point china's total lack of environmental concern will catch up with it. and where is the innovation from china? we owe all our problems to our corporaate execs who offshore everything for the quick buck THEY get.

but where do janitors come from then?

you'll need a job while looking for a purpose anyway :)

-----------

also, I do think this political environment _is_ trace-able back to our insane vietnam war

Imaginary Voice:

What kind of work/jobs are people expecting to be created. "We need jobs." But what? Has anyone come up with a whole new industry?
  6:54pm
Wilder, Dave:

@ dale- will Karma solve this in the end? If so, I can turn off the show and suffer much less heartburn.
  6:56pm
J J:

Thanks, Chris! Depressing the shit out of me as usual!
