Hi, Miz Liz. Welcome, everybody, to Week Two of the Facebook Apocalypse.
  9:11am
Liz B.:

Hi everyone, great to see you all here! Excited for today's offerings! Hope it's appropriate for the store crowd, Annie.
  9:15am

  9:16am
M I S T E R G A R C I A:

mornin' liz all the way from sunny London!! love the tunes, nice/
  9:16am
still b/p:

Tried to create a "Facebrook" at a party in the country last week, where everyone was asked to draw any face at all, or as many as they wanted. The varied paper sheets were laid in the grass. Didn't quite get the longer watercourse effect we were after, but the dozens of them were still interesting, especially the ones funked up by dew next morning.
  9:21am
abby in france:

hi
  9:26am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

  9:27am
glenn:

  9:34am
bruceleh:

Hi Liz!
I'm still kicking myself for not taking that giant bumper sticker @ the Barbes meet-up!
My knee replacement went great, recovery proceeding along.
  9:36am
Liz B.:

Hi Tom G! Glad to hear your knee replacement was a success, Bruceleh! WFMU will be at the Atlantic Antic this Sunday (10/2), so if you are mobile, swing by for a giant bumper sticker!
  9:37am
Cheri Pi:

How big are we talking Liz?
  9:38am
glenn:

considering cars don't really even have bumpers anymore, aren't they just stickers? albeit giant ones.
  9:38am
Liz B.:

Big as in 4 times the size of a normal bumper sticker! Would look equally as great on a refrigerator as it would on a boat!
  9:39am
glenn:

can i get one in the mail?
  9:39am
bruceleh:

I doubt if I'll be mobile enough for getting to the Atlantic Antic by next Sunday.
I would just frame it & mount on wall
  9:41am
R I S K Y:

ROCK EM RIGHT LIZ!
  9:41am
Liz B.:

Drop me an e-mail if you want one by mail:

  9:42am
pierre:

what about a refrigeboat ?
  9:42am
glenn:

the infamous citroen refrigeboat?
  9:46am
pierre:

what use would be a refrigeboat, anyway?
  9:49am
glenn:

ummmmmm, keeping fish from spoiling in between the time it's caught way to hell and gone out in the ocean and getting it to market?
  9:54am
abby in france:

all the car bumpers i see say 'no fracking way.' mine says 'mystifying radio oracle.'
  9:55am
Liz B.:

Anyone looking to get Radiohead tix today, this is your 5 min warning before the NYC metro area breaks the ticketmaster site.
  9:57am
R I S K Y:

BAAHHH! RADIOHEAD CITY MUSIC HALL!
  9:57am
glenn:

good. break it forever, i say. cockroaches, they are.
  10:01am
still b/p:

Stepped away a moment. Nearest person to Mr. Goldsworthy, please pass a note: He don't have to make a potluck dish if he conceives/constructs a little environmental something for the party next year. If he wants to make something a kilometer long AND edible, all the better.
  10:03am
BSI:

whoa. missed me some Pilesar. Drag.
  10:04am
Rind:

Pilesar is pronounced like "cheeser" but thanks for playing it,
  10:05am
Liz B.:

Whoah, Pilesar = cheeser?? Good lord, thanks for correcting me, I was wayyyy off.
  10:06am
#K:

killin it Liz Berg!
  10:07am
Andy G.:

Do Jello sculptures count? My kids love Jello.
  10:08am
Rind:

I mean, it rhymes, not pronounced exactly the same.
  10:08am
glenn:

hey liz, do d.j.s have to do the skill testing question to post comments?
  10:08am
Liz B.:

Ha ha, gotcha Rind!
  10:09am
dc pjat:

Pilesar (prounounced Pie LEE Zur)
  10:09am
Liz B.:

We used to have to do the math to post comments, Glenn. We still do if we post comments from outside of the WFMU building. I like math.
  10:11am
glenn:

how about some quadratic equations? or limits? i aced calculus.
  10:12am
glenn:

you know, 32 years ago, in grade 13.
  10:18am
Liz B.:

I heart calculus, too! The only math I dislike involves matrices or imaginary numbers. For some reason, those concepts made my brain hurt.
  10:18am
glenn:

two words; string theory.
  10:20am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Carl Sagan would be proud of you two
  10:20am
Liz B.:

Ah yeah, Brian Greene's book was a tough one to wrap my head around!
  10:22am
dc pjat:

wow, like the Ketamines.
  10:23am
glenn:

i just don't understand it, and i admit it.
  10:23am
Rind:

I like it that Big Troubles has an Angelfire website. Haven't seen one of those in a while.
  10:29am
dc pjat:

man, Home Blitz seems to be the shit right now. Good shit.
  10:29am
Skirkie:

Oh shit, there was a calculus discussion going on here and I had no idea?
  10:35am
dc pjat:

Psandwich is kickin....use to be in a group called Sandwich..no silent "P"
  10:36am
Pilesar:

Whoa! Thanks for playing my track, Liz. Much obliged!
  10:37am
cobra dan:

My dad, who is a mathematician always said, "Algebra comes from the head, Calculus comes from the heart."
  10:40am
BSI:

Tube cakes & funnel socks? Sign me up!
  10:43am
DryEraser:

math used to be better when people still used chalk - dry erase markers and boards are bad design. Brittle calcium carbonate is a way better overall aesthetic experience than dry earse
  10:50am
Carmichael:

Good morning Liz and crowd.
  10:51am
Liz B.:

Agreed DryEraser! Math is always best with chalk.
  10:51am
glenn:

not to mention - how do you draw on sidewalks with dry erase markers? huh? maybe THAT'S why kids don't play hopscotch anymore. xbox, you're off the hook.
  11:00am
dc pjat:

glenn: wrong, kids still use chalk on sidewalks all the time, including hopscotch. That's why there's chalk all over the bottom of my shoes and our rugs and such...
  11:02am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

my daughter loves chalk. in fact she asked to do hopscotch with me yesterday.
  11:02am
Jennique:

Greetings from the AMNH. The folks over in the Earth and Planetary Sciences department would enjoy yer show today, as do I.
  11:04am
glenn:

well, i can't even recall the last time i saw a hopscotch whatchamacallit on the sidewalk. on the other hand, every kid in my neighbourhood has hockey nets set up on the street.
  11:05am
Liz B.:

Shout out to the AMNH! What does everyone think about this neutrino supposedly traveling faster than the speed of light?
  11:06am
glenn:

personally, i think they got the math wrong.
  11:07am
dc pjat:

HOCKEY?? Where do you live? Soccer nets in the streets in my neighborhood, and the kids are getting good!

Liz B: yeah saw that the other day, kind of throws a wrench into everything doesn't it?
  11:07am
Neutrino:

I posted this tomorrow.
  11:08am
dc pjat:

They seem pretty sure about it but wouldn't be surprising if they need to get the chalk out and try again.
  11:09am
glenn:

toronto. the ball hockey capital of the universe.
  11:12am
Jennique:

Wasn't there something just recently about how scientists determined that photons could NOT travel faster than the speed of light, making time travel impossible? "Highly illogical" - Spok
  11:14am
dc pjat:

ah, figures. kids are pretty soccer-focused around here.
  11:16am
BSI:

having flashbacks of Ken's animated .gifs...
  11:16am
BSI:

...a very cool thing, btw...
  11:16am
dc pjat:

Saturday in our house is now called Soccerday.
  11:16am
Pilesar:

I'm digging this Matias Aguayo tune.
  11:17am
BSI:

@dc pjat: I approve that message.
  11:18am
glenn:

given how much hockey equipment costs, soccer is on the rise here, as well.
  11:19am
glenn:

i've been using the same gear for the past 25 years. i think it's time for some new skates.
  11:19am
dc pjat:

that's the beauty of futbol, all you need is a ball....or something that rolls.
  11:19am
The Photers?:

Pho....photon,
Photo photon,
Take my hand,
Come with me, baby, to Lightland,
Let me show you how sweet it can be
Racing light with me...
Libra, and my name is Charles,
And I like a woman who breaks all the rules of physics...
  11:20am
glenn:

the mayans used their enemies heads. now that's recycling.
  11:21am
glenn:

sorry. enemy's.
  11:21am
northguineahills:

Ah, a little Kompakt set.
  11:24am
Rind:

Yes, digging all the Kompakt label stuff. Hopefully Gui Boratto will be playing DC soon.
  11:26am
dc pjat:

yeah Mayans and Aztecs use to decapitate the losing team of their court ball games. pretty cool..
  11:26am
BSI:

crazy uncle Omar! Yezz!
  11:26am
George Serr:

am I listening to a ping pong ball?
  11:26am
dc pjat:

Souleyman never fails to deliver, man! WOO!
  11:28am
northguineahills:

New Souleyman, deep!
  11:29am
Cheri Pi:

Souleyman ins the MAN!
  11:29am
glenn:

i bet if you used the same head a few times, you could figure out the bounces pretty well. if you were a mayan bookie, that'd be good info to have.
  11:35am
dc pjat:

it'd get squishy pretty quick. How could you even work out the odds though if every losing team got dead? You wouldn't even keep records--if your team was a live, you were undefeated...
  11:37am
northguineahills:

I always thought the winning team was sacrificed. It was an honor.
  11:38am
still b/p:

Nice...Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal/Sam "Ace" Rothstein in jade bling handicapping Maya tournaments, and Tony Spilotro/Nicky Santoro as de facto equipment manager.
  11:38am
dc pjat:

HOLY CRAP, Ty Segal is playing Comet here in DC TONIGHT!! Crap! Tonight is back to school night!!! AAAAHHH....
  11:43am
dc pjat:

Hey, some people still play that game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulama_%28game%29

incredible show Liz B
  11:48am
Ike:

Just got in -- hey did you see that the free Metro NY paper has a picture of a Wall St. protester being arrested while WEARING AN FMU SHIRT on page 4?!
  11:49am
Buzkashi:

  11:55am
Ike:

http://tinyurl.com/wallstfmutshirt
  11:56am
Cheri Pi:

Great find IKE! I have that shirt; will wear it later in solodarity.
  11:57am
BSI:

...where dead air (and police brutality) lives!
  11:57am
dc pjat:

I had to retire that shirt, getting too beat up.
  11:58am
Carmichael:

Hopefully, that pic will be on Ken's Wednesday show.
  11:59am
pierre:

i'm sure about that Carmichael, he might even ask us to remix it
  12:00pm
Ike:

That is (or WAS) my favorite FMU shirt, too. Unfortunately my original black large was eaten by field mice during a hike. I cherish the brown reprint version but the black was even cooler.

Also I probably misspoke about the protester being "arrested." No reason to necessarily assume that.
  12:00pm
Ike:

Oh, DONNA DOESN'T DO COMMENTS -- so, let's cheat and comment on her show here! LOL.
