It's not dead. The butterfly is not dead. Its only sleeping. Dont squish it! Nooooooooooo!
  9:29am

  9:37am
seang:

what is it?
  9:42am
cubicle carl:

That was cool. Mess around with the RPM more.
  9:47am
tim:

I heard through the rumor mill that King Khan and BBQ split up. Can anyone vouch for that?
  9:48am
Liz B.:

Carl, it's inevitable! Got lots of records lined up today, plenty of other chances for a 33/45 slip of the wrist!
  9:57am
Martin:

Monday's are the BEST! Thanks, Liz!
  9:58am
cubicle carl:

Well, try not to do it during this set anymore. I'm reaching that wonderful mid-set buzz.
  9:59am
Doug:

Great set. Hope it's not too debased that I'm listening at the gym.
  10:01am
tim:

For your health!
  10:02am

  10:15am
Liz B.:

Thanks for the nice words, everyone! Hi Billy, Andrew, and Erikur, shout out to the gym!
  10:26am
Parq:

Liz, I'm way behind the curve, but I just wanted to mention how much I enjoyed "Kyoto-Ga" and the whole first set. The second set, I fear, got sacrificed to my commute. Onward.
  10:31am
CheriPi:

Liz, this is the kind of man that is "on offer" these days to the cool kids, in my day it was a puffy members only jacket and a home perm. You just have to tell yourself that you would "hit that" if you were 20 years younger.
  10:32am
cubicle carl:

Next year at Halloween I'm going to market the "pervert mustache" as a costume accessory. Thanks for the idea, Liz.
  10:32am
efd:

Matthew Melton is also the head honcho of Bare Wires, so that could explain the similarity in cover photos. :)
  10:32am
Maureen:

yeah…what is up with that look. i love your description…pervert moustache…hot
  10:33am
Rob W:

I heartily agree about the dirtbag male hipster phenomenon! Just saw a fair share of it in New Orleans of all places. But also Austin, PDX, all those places where the scraggly hip kids gather between hopping freight trains...
  10:34am
CheriPi:

If I hadn't been born 20 years too late, I'm sure i would find this unfortunate look irresistible.
  10:35am
seang:

they all need to check out Billy Childish to see how a real man dresses
  10:39am
CheriPi:

There's a young buck in my local area who un-unironically sports a young Phil Spector coiffure. It's a very confusing time to be a straight woman.
  10:39am
Tom Selleck:

"And when Mr. Greif hit upon the prevalence of pornographic and pedophilic mustaches among hipsters, one heavily mustachioed man seemed to listen more intently."

tim:

I don't trust these skinny kids with their stachiosos. They need to get some damn groceries instead of Members Only jackets.
  10:42am
Liz B.:

Ha ha, thanks EFD, it's the same dude! I thought it was a total conspiracy! Maybe it still is, I definitely spotted more than 2 guys rockin' the d-bag look at a show this weekend... You guys are crackin' me up with your mustache stories!
  10:45am
CheriPi:

Although...I think we can trace the current pedo-mustachio fad back to the Black Lips-is anyone a cultural anthropologist?
  10:45am
Rob W:

Yes, Tom Selleck... if only the hip kids understood what the mustache used to stand for back in the 80s - ! For us it symbolized all that was wrong with the world. Although a part of me is jealous 'cause I never could have pulled off this look! One of our own who did something like it in his own special way though - CheriPi take note re: the big hair - WFMU's Kenny G a few Marathons ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/47863301@N00/2130593675/
  10:52am
steve:

these mustachios could learn a lot from russ mael
  10:53am
Tom Selleck:

It's not just for the guys, you know. You too could have one, Liz.

100 hairs makes a man

efd:

Liz, those guys you saw over the weekend were probably in a good mood if this campaign was effective:

This past summer my wife and I DJed a co-ed "Mustache Ride" bicycle rally. There were prizes for best male and female staches. It was a blast.

  11:02am
CheriPi:

Rob W-I'm at a loss for words-which is extremely rare.
  11:19am
Rob W:

Yeah CheriPi, Kenny G, a man ahead of his time. Although he was working (spoofing) the retro porn star angle more directly there than the youngsters we've been discussing. By the way folks, sorry for the long URL; this will also work: http://tinyurl.com/kenny-g-stache-fro.

That's not even the scariest Kenny G. photo out there. It gets worse. Try these:

  11:25am

I hadn't heard this version of Frankenstein in a long time. It's still great! Thanks for playing it.
  11:26am
Parq:

Great version of "Frankie", but not as good as Mike Lupica's vocalese Hoof'n'Mouth reading in, I think, 2007.
  11:32am
rosh:

with all this mustache talk, I'd be remiss not to chime in w/the lovely & talented Jennifer Miller. http://www.outmedia.org/lecture/images/jg.jpg
  11:38am
rosh:

Ut! I was introduced to them via another amazing female w/ facial hair, awesome.

  11:43am
Tom Selleck:

Ah, sweet Wfmu, where the ear counts for more than the upper lip.
  11:45am
glenn:

now we're comparing ear hair to moustaches?
  11:52am
Parq:

Speaking of vocalese versions of rock instrumental hits ...
