  12:06pm
annie:

  12:06pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Hello Tamar, hope that all is well with you today! Looking forward to another great show, very nice start to it. Have you any Boiled in Lead? Great punked up world music.
  12:09pm
Rob W:

This reminds me - Hokkaido Food Fair this weekend at the Japanese mall in Edgewater NJ (and also their Chicago and San Jose branches by the way) - http://www.mitsuwa.com/event/eevent.php?e=42 - !
  12:11pm
annie:

i couldn't help but think that was filled with mongolian influence.???
  12:12pm
Squid:

That Japanese blues was fantastic.
  12:14pm
Cecile:

Rob is Hokkaido that fantastic store in Chicago my friends rave about - with every ingredient and utensil known to mankind?
  12:15pm
still b/p:

Bluegrass with shamisen. Well, yahh!
  12:18pm
Tamar:

First track was Afghani-Tajik thereabouts. I've never been to the Hokkaiko fest, but I'm tempted!
  12:19pm
dc pat:

YEAH! I knew it....only because I have some sirod (or however you spell it) albums.
  12:21pm
Cecile:

sarod. I made a spelling error on a piece and remember this.
  12:22pm
dc pat:

Thanks Cecile, just found the correct spelling same time you posted.
  12:22pm
Rob W:

Cecile - there might be a store called Hokkaido in Chicago but actually Hokkaido is the northern island of Japan! The food fair is interesting because they will have dishes and treats not typically found in Japanese restaurants in North America. Mistuwa is actually the name of a Japanese oversea store chain - and they have a big one in Chicago, and their stores usually have a big supermarket with lots of esoteric Japanese food items and yes, utensils, so that could be what they're talking about!
  12:23pm
Rob W:

I should add, Mitsuwa is the place where the Hokkaido food fairs will be. But enough shilling for them, as much as I love them. On with the great music Tamar!
  12:29pm
Rob W:

Although one last shill - I just discovered that Takeharu Kunimoto and the Last Frontier, the shamisen/bluegrass band that Tamar played earlier, is touring the southeast US starting tomorrow! Check out: http://homepage2.nifty.com/ts-sonic/calendar_of_event/index.html
  12:29pm
dc pat:

this is a killer show and just what I like to hear out of FMU...but, gotta go dumb some dumb shit for a while..
  12:29pm
Cecile:

Oh, I got it. I think that's must be it. Mitsuwa! Gotta remember that if I ever spend more than 30 hours in Chicago again...
  12:32pm
Jackie ny-ca:

Mitsuwa is, as they say here, "over the hill" from where I now live in Santa Cruz. I may have to check out this festival this weekend. Never been to the place before, maybe this is a good time to check it out. The website looks interesting.
  12:37pm
Marshall Stacks:

Another Santa Cruzan! If you're into Japanese food, Mitsuwa is worth a visit. I'll be in the Mitsuwa neighborhood this weekend and may stop by.
  12:41pm
annie:

this reminds me of bill murray's lounge lizard singer schtick on SNL
  12:42pm
Marshall Stacks:

Annie, "Nick Springs," wasn't it?
"Star Wars, wonderful Star Wars...."
  12:43pm
Dale from North Dakota:

I never realized how long this song is before hearing this version, lol.
  12:45pm
annie:

  12:48pm
annie:
