Listener comments!

  12:05pm Bad Ronald:

Superb Kinks tune, thanks!!!
  12:06pm Carmichael:

My favorite British band! Just 3 hours of Kinks, please!
  12:06pm dc pat:

KINKS!
  12:07pm Joe B:

BR! Where ya been! on the same note, where have I been!
  12:08pm dc pat:

Joe, only play bands that start with K today!!!
  12:08pm SmokinJ:

It's R-O-C-K-I-N' time!
  12:08pm dc pat:

aw...
  12:09pm SmokinJ:

AND, Miller time!
  12:10pm Bad Ronald:

I've been looking forward to your show!!!

Do you plan on attending the record fair?
  12:12pm dc pat:

man, are the Kinks getting back together or what? Ray was talkin about it 2 years ago but nothing happened. Anybody heard?
  12:12pm Joe B:

Record fair? You betcha! Trashmen Saturday afternoon! Saturday night! Friday night!
  12:14pm Bad Ronald:

Man, I might have to go to all 3 days, I wanna catch People Like us too...
  12:19pm Parq:

Y'know, three hours of hot girl bands singing in French would be okay, too.
  12:24pm Ne-guh-tor:

Blue Cheer simply rules.
  12:32pm Cecile:

YES. I love this song.
  12:34pm Joe:

This Betty Harris record kicks ass!
  12:36pm Cecile:

well, thank you Shelby! I didn't know you were responsible for a Bettye Lavette side!
  12:38pm Ne-guh-tor:

Tough news about Dickie P., Joe. My band opened for Blue Cheer last year. Cool guys, for sure. They played for 2 and a half hours! They sounded great. It was a true honor to be on the same stage as them. The drummer was about 98 years old and kicked my drummin' ass all around. Good times.
  12:38pm Laurie:

I don't think I want to know what soul butter is supposed to be.
  12:38pm Cecile:

Joe, can you play "I am the Grass" from that recent Shelby country comp?
  12:40pm Listener Jumpy:

"Soul Butter" is one of my all-time faves.
  12:42pm Carmichael:

Sing it, Big Al! Ugh!
  12:43pm Jumpy:

I could go for 3 hours of Kinks.
I think tonight's gig will be all artists who played down the road at Club Warsaw.
  12:45pm Joe B:

Jumpy, feel free to post details of said gig here!
  12:46pm Joe B:

Cecile, sorry, can't look for that comp now, a little disporganized as usual.

Neg, cool story. I never went to see Blue Cheer. terrible job by me.
  12:50pm Cecile:

that's ok, Joe. I am digging the big slab of good soul you've been playing!
  12:54pm Carmichael:

A crappy local band I was in opened for Spirit once, and it was the same thing. Ed Cassidy looked moments away from death, but blew everyone away all night.
  12:56pm dc pat:

My group opened for TSOL once. They were dicks.
  12:57pm Rubble:

Nardwuar!
  12:58pm Carmichael:

Neg, was that Paul Whaley on drums?? He should only be about 60-ish. Plus 10 hard years of LSD. OK, that equals 98.
  1:07pm Cecile:

oh, nardwuar.
  1:08pm Ne-guh-tor:

It was Paul Whaley and yes I knew he was in his 60's (67 I think), but, man, they kept in total darkness throughout the show and when it over he stepped from behind the kit, and I was like, WHOA! I was blown away. It like if your grandad just rocked harder than you did! Really, a miracle.
  1:09pm Cecile:

the anti-eddie trunk
  1:12pm C:

Saw the Pierced Arrows last week. Man, their new stuff is awesome. Can't wait for the new album. Also, heard a rumor that Mississippi might release another old Cole album, I think the last Rats one. Gonna be great.
  1:13pm Carmichael:

He can't look any worse than Rod Argent. My God, he looks like he was lashed to the bow of some sailng ship for about 40 years.
  1:15pm Joe B:

I missed the Pierced Arrows, damn. I really wanted to see them. The new album is gonna be out on Vice.
  1:16pm Ne-guh-tor:

Pierced Arrows better come here and we better open for them! Carmichael, I haven't seen Rod, but Paul looked like The Mummy wearing a baseball cap.
  1:16pm C:

I hope that doesn't mean the record won't be pressed in their living room.
  1:17pm Ne-guh-tor:

and played his ass off!
  1:17pm dc pat:

dammit, missed Pierced Arrows as well as TVGhost.
  1:42pm Bad Ronald:

mrs. slater's parrot?
  1:57pm Stuart Troutman:

Wasn't that Rodney Slater?
  2:04pm Jumpy:

Pretty sure the song in Spanish was "Girl and a Hot Rod." At least, it sounded like that.
  2:08pm Joe B:

Thanks Jumpy!
  2:18pm Carmichael:

Buddy Rich was a true Hep Cat!
  2:29pm Parq:

Not sure what I missed, but Buddy Rich was supposedly a dick to his side-people. Just sayin'. Another on our list of great American heroes who were not very nice people.
  2:36pm GP:

Just joining the fray..meetings, etc...blah blah
  2:47pm Jumpy:

"The guys get shirts! The guys get shirts!"
  2:58pm Carmichael:

Thanks, Joe!!
  3:01pm Spankyflop:

Joe - one of these years for your premium you ought to do a "3 Chord Monte Sells Out" CD. Just compile all of the great commercials you have.
  6:14pm mike tp:

chiming in about buddy rich. seen him at a restaurant perform in nutley? man was he giving his bass player the business. not playing the tempo properly. buddy was a freaky soloist though as we all know.technique and a speed freak.anybody remember marty paglione from club band crizma. he could really play like buddy rich and carl palmer.
  7:07pm Mike Sin:

Nice Shelby Singleton tribute!
  4:51pm Ryan M.:

This was a damn good show, Joe.
