Listener comments!

  9:04am annie:

first comment!
  9:05am roofless:

this paik song is epic, getting me pumped for tuesday
  9:07am annie:

morning jason, thinking hard on that second pot of coffee...
  9:20am bb:

ive been neglecting blues control!
  9:24am Crash:

Wow, Forgot about how creepy and excellent that Moolah record is...thanks Jason & EM.
  9:46am Cecile:

Hai, everyone!
  9:48am annie:

morning cecile, it's been a pretty quiet audience so far..
  9:49am Bad Ronald:

Good Morning!

I have a feeling that's about to change Annie...
  9:49am annie:

well yeah, cecile and BR are in da house
  9:50am dc pat:

hey folks. I'm having trouble working out my gig schedule. psychedelic horseshit tonight, chain and the gang tomorrow, damned coming up. and babysitters are in short supply...
  9:50am Cecile:

nice. I'm going to ask Joe B. to play the Who's "Now I'm a Farmer."

maybe not.

Jason, if you aren't polarized about Todd Rundgren, can you play some?
  9:51am roofless:

i liked how strung out/sleazy that cover of "sugar sugar" sounded
  9:51am Cecile:

Just get some air traffic controller ear muffs and bring the kids.
  9:51am dc pat:

Cecile: definitely, great request....just don't mention gardening or Iggy...
  9:51am Cecile:

roofless, that's the best song to do that way.
The Original SIns did the most debauched cover - like sometihng off the first Velvets LP.
  9:52am Bad Ronald:

"Now I'm a Farmer" would be nice.

  9:52am dc pat:

you know, I would but...their kind aren't aloud..
  9:57am Cecile:

you request it, BR.

aw, dcp, screw the hatas.
  9:58am Cecile:

say they'r primordial dwarfs and also mute. And then threaten to sic the EEOC on 'em.
  9:58am Bad Ronald:

  9:58am Cecile:

but then again, getting kids to be quiet all night...
  9:59am Cecile:

where in Michigan?
  10:01am dc pat:

they'd probably pass out at the bar too. frowned on in these parts..
  10:02am jason:

paik was/is from detroit, but i think now the 3 members are scattered across the US
  10:04am Cecile:

ah. Yes, Detroit. They had to go elsewhere, like all us Michiganian/ganders
  10:09am roofless:

are there bolmongani records? i'm loving this live set!
  10:12am Cecile:

took the words out of my mouth, roofie.
  10:13am roofless:

totally feeling that 20 second U.S. Maple-ish intro turning into pure pop riff, can't get enough of this guy!
  10:14am Pearly Sweets:

  10:15am jason:

awesome! i just linked to Beyonder Records in the playlist, wher eyou can pick up the 1st Bolmongani album. 2nd album is on the way, Ryan said he'd almost finished it before tour. But he did have a pretty killer tour split with tourmate (and sometimes fellow Paik member) Ezee Tiger
  10:18am Cecile:

Just picked it up. I love this modern era.
  10:19am jason:

yeah, go internets!
  10:19am Cecile:

you kids are keeping me young.
  10:23am Ryan:

Amazing set!! Where have you been all my life? Were the first few cuts off the s/t record?
  10:26am roofless:

oh man whistling
  10:28am Cecile:

I love the way Michigan people mix things.
The melody, the soul, the noise, the Anglophilia, everything.
  10:29am roofless:

is the new Bolmongani release going to be CD only as well?
  10:30am Emily:

Tis Bolmongani is great!
  10:32am jeff:

yo jason.
  10:33am Cecile:

this Ezee Tiget is good, too.
Man, Holy Mountain has a track record these days.
  10:33am jason:

i think new bolmongani will be on CD at least, ryan didnt mention any other formats...i wish we had more time to talk and record a set from ezee tiger. ryan (bolmongani) and anthony (ezee tiger) both awesome dudes and musicians
  10:34am GP:

Just in. Good morning.
  10:37am jason:

yo let's also hear a live ezee tiger track in a few minutes
  10:38am doug from dc:

Darn, missed Bolmongani's set. Saw both of these guys play at Avant Fairfax in VA last weekend, and they were my fave acts from the whole festival. Not one, but two one-man bands - awesome!
  10:38am Cecile:

  10:39am Ryan:

That was a killer track as well - going to be emptying out the wallet today, it looks like
  10:40am jason:

hey doug, not to worry, the set will be posted on the freemusicarchive.org. glad to hear they destroyed avant fairfax
  10:41am sahak:

kudos mr. sigal
  10:46am Cecile:

Is it 'pake" or "pike"
and is it after "nam june paik"?
  10:48am Cecile:

  10:50am jason:

i used to think it was pah-yeek but ryan pronounced it "pake"..not sure where it comes from!
  10:50am roofless:

"almost wasted" is a total burner and i kinda hear the "sister ray" riff behind the solo. whole deal makes me want to get "definitely wasted." perfect for long, hot summer nights. i live in philly and am stoked to catch this shit live sometime.
  10:51am Cecile:

ok, that's cool.
  10:51am Pearly Sweets:

My office isn't nearly hazey enough for this song.
  10:52am Pearly Sweets:

Did no one read the memo?
  10:54am roofless:

hats off, jason sigal. your set has made my morning!
  10:55am dc pat:

pretty inspiring stuff all around. I think I'm finally going to get my drums back and do the one-man-band thing...
  11:07am b:

How can I get that Purling Hiss song?
  11:07am dc pat:

cigar box guitars rule. I have 2
  11:10am jeff:

  11:12am jason:

in the house!
  11:13am jason:

b this purling hiss is unfortunately lacking contact info...let me know if you find out i want one too!
  11:14am still b/p:

Is purling hiss a spoonerism? Duck!
  11:15am Emily:

Great show, Jason!
  11:18am Parq:

DC pat, re 10:55, start a band with your kids, like Eyeball Skeleton.
  11:21am risky!:

  11:22am Pearly Sweets:

Eyeball Skeleton!
  11:23am dc p:

  11:23am Pearly Sweets:

Now I am going to have their songs stuck in my head all day.
  11:23am jason:

  11:24am Parq:

Jason, what the hey, if it wasn't, I'll make one.
  11:25am dc p:

  11:28am Pearly Sweets:

  11:29am dc pat:

  11:31am Pearly Sweets:

Also agree to that.
  11:35am Glenn L:

Ahh - the classic Black Ark sound!
All hail the Almighty Upsetter!

  11:45am Chris:

This Le Face thing is finally waking me up. Awesome.
  11:45am dc pat:

  11:46am jeff:

  11:47am Dali:

Sorry...but you need to check my current work, "Persistence of Mortality".
  11:48am Chris:

Hello Dali
  11:50am Dali:

Call me Sir Eel.
  11:50am roofless:

Angels in America has a pleasant resonance with creep extraordinaire Russian Tsarlag.
  11:50am Swami:

Great show J!
  11:51am roofless:

at least that first track did
  11:51am Pearly Sweets:

I should make a mix of painter songs. Vincent, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso. I think that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Not a promising start. ... I'll just finish off the last 68 minutes with captain ahab remixes.
  11:52am Cecile:

AWESOME dronage this AM.

DO NOT put Don McLean's Vincent on there, Pearls.
  11:52am Pearly Sweets:

I've been enjoying the latest foot village stuff a whole bunch.
  11:53am Cecile:

Oh, you like that song. Sorry. Ignore that.
  11:53am Pearly Sweets:

How about one of the pop punk covers of it? I am pretty sure like The Vandals or NOFX or somebody did a version in the mid-90s. I can't take off one of my three songs? I ONLY HAVE THREE!
  11:54am doug:

pretty awesome stuff, man.
  11:55am Pearly Sweets:

Nice work on getting that name out there, Jason.
  11:55am Cecile:

Get on the Google. Isn't there a Basquait song, and an Edvard Munch one?
What about Andy Warhol?
  11:57am Pearly Sweets:

Ian Svenonius, Jason?
  11:58am roofless:

from the make up? from nation of ulysses!
  12:00pm Cecile:

that's what trubble said on her show.
  7:36pm polizze:

  12:42am jason:
