Hello Krys and all. The time of confusion ends tonight I think (meaning DST off in Europe, on in the US)

Deep Polish cut, I guess they were big at some point, as I had heard about them (many Polish people in the Paris art/noise/experimental scene)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
Krys O.:

I heard lots of Polish when I walked down the streets of Paris in 1981. I remember you brought up the early history of Polish migration to France. My mother's cousin emigrated to Paris long before WWII.

I'm curious about Skaldowie's evolution from 1965 to 1980. They were around for a long time.

There was that, but another wave in the late '90s, and generally enduring ties for some reason. Many French artists get exposure in Poland, and the same holds the other way. Even the boring little town where I live (well, sleep) has a sister city in Poland

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm

Made it to the Record Fair yesterday (picked up a few slabs of vinyl). Was cosidering going again today, but the trip from Central Joisey to NYC becomes more and more offputting.

Hi fred-thanks for asking!
She's doing well-lost 40% of her tongue, just tube feeding until yesterday, but she seems to have figured out eating kibble (which we didn't intend to give her, but it was out for the other dog, Laila), and drinking water (both with unusual head positions, which wasn't a definite for her to figure out). We're happy with how she's doing! (still on medications, pain meds, and the tube stays in for 2 weeks).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Krys O.:

That's cool. Glad you got to go yesterday. It's especially daunting without a car. The DeCamp commuter bus line that I used for over 40 years went out of business a couple of years ago. NJ Transit hasn't completely replaced the service outside of a few buses Monday through Friday only.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
doctorjazz:

↳ Krys O. @2:08
NJ Transit sucks! No problems yesterday, but I've had lines I needed to transfer to just get cancelled, leaving me to find a way home. Sometimes they provide a bus after a wait, sometimes not. It's fairly hateful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Krys O.:

↳ doctorjazz @2:10
Ugh. I take three NJT buses to and from work. It's beyond just stressful.

On the other hand, driving in to the City gets harder and harder.. I've gone into the city for activities since I'm a teenager, 30+ years from Brooklyn, 20+ now from New Joisey, it was always a bit of a pain, but now it's a major hassle! I'm sure I go in less because it's such a headache!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
fred:

↳ doctorjazz @2:07
So Laila got cheated out of a full meal? I hope you made up for that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
doctorjazz:

↳ fred @2:16
No problem for Laila-the bowls are always refilled. But we thought we'd have to give soft canned food to Maxie, but she's eating the kibble like a chanp! Surprised us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Krys O.:

↳ doctorjazz @2:16
Yup, I grew up in Westchester County and we took Metro North trains into Manhattan. I took DeCamp ever since I was a college student in the early 80s.I lived in NYC briefly, before moving to NJ 39 years ago. The past five years have been awful.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
fred:

I was hoping things would get better with the Olympics done, but it just unleashed all the works that had been postponed. Transit here has never recovered from the Covid years, when the right wing gov used the opportunity to fire many bus drivers
The worst is that it's so crowded that I can't read much anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm

That's how cramped it can be in the morning in this part of NJ.
