he had been with Humble Pie -- so already a well known, respected guitarist -- but I guess someone decided to play up his *cute" factor, once he went solo -- and a lot of us teenage girls fell in love, L-U-V (and the rock-guitar-boyfriends may have been enthused! UNTIL they realized how much their girlfriends where swooning over 💖Frampton💖 haha!)

i had known of Frampton as a guitarist -- i love his version of "I Believe When I Fall in Love," and playing one of his LPs got me through a really severely hungover New Year's Day morning, one year in high school -- but all of a sudden, so many of us were like -- when did Peter Frampton get so CUTE?!?

back then, when a number of shampoos were named after famous people -- how was this marketing opportunity in Frampton's case?!?

David Peel called it “the CBGB of New Jersey”.
The first group I ever went there to see was Dirge–whose guitarist I went to school with, and who was fronted by the Brighton’s legendary doorman Jacko!
I liked local acts like Laughing Soup Dish, Secret Syde, Monster Magnet, Shock Mommies, Wretched Ones, Mad Lee, Pink Frog and Ribeye Brothers.
I also saw famous touring artists there–like the Dickies, Vibrators, Standells, Exene Cervenka, Glen Matlock and Peter Tork!

That movie's climactic scene with Watson, Krenwinkel and Atkins was reduced to almost a footnote in the novelization. It was just vaguely referred to in two pages.

↳ Song: "Death Valley '69" by "Sonic Youth"
Yesterday, a cover band calling themselves "The Alt" debuted at the Colts Neck Inn. They specialize in so-called "alternative music" from the Eighties.
Just to be a gadfly, I posted numerous requests of Eighties songs I knew they wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole--including this one!

Yes! Who can forget Jacko! I'm friends with Wayne Larson and Curt Kyle from The LSD. My brother's band was Last Exit B4 Toll. They played there often. Do you remember the old owner Big John? I ran into him at the same apt building as my brother after he lost the bar in a divorce while subsequently experiencing bad health. Of course, I remember Monster Magnet and the Dickies among many. I'm sure I spilled a beer on you at some point.

I must have seen Big John, but I honestly don’t remember him.
My favorite story about him was his reaction to the Shock Mommies’ Brighton debut. Their burly vocalist donned a silly dress just for some cheap laughs, but the homophobic John was not amused. “I don’t want none of this ‘funny’ stuff going on in my joint!” was his reaction, and the group was banned from the bar for years. Ironically, the Brighton (under different ownership, of course) hosted at least one drag show in recent years!
