Butthole Surfers was the first show I paid for with my own money. I'd seen Bon Jovi before that, and Robert Palmer before that. The naked cage dancers and the weird medical films being projected on the band was... different, for me.

I recall that you used to have to say, "B-H Surfers," in the old days, for that very reason. Programmers used to be worried that saying that band name on the air would cause some sort of aneurysm in your grandma, or something. I always wanted to know what grandma they were talking about; mine always cursed like a sailor.

Apparently, the gents from this band immediately realized, when they started to get hits on the radio, that it could be a flash in the pan, and they immediately hired a guy to invest their money so they could buy houses and build a little nest egg. So those few singles off of that album is essentially supporting them to this day!
