Thanks so much for this deep dive, Mr. Frow. I was getting worried that FMU was backing off from extended posthumous tributes like this, after another DJ seem to imply that, and the surprisingly low key on air reaction to Crosby’s death (last week, was it? Impossible to keep up lately) on the station. Count my vote as pro-tribute if there really is any internal debate on the matter. They are seriously one of the things I rely on FMU for as life goes on.

Jimmy is fantastic. I saw him and Tom together more than a few times. One funny memory is when they played the Viper Room in West Hollywood. Jimmy turned his back to the audience when they were really going to town. This was in the day of tight black Levis. Two girls standing next to me were marveling at his ass and cracking up. Chris Cacavas and I went to see Tom solo at McCabes in Santa Monica. McCabes is a non-alcohol venue. It was very quite. Tom was strumming an acoustic guitar and telling some bizarre story about Johnny Cash hallucinating polka-dots on the curtains. You could have heard a pin drop. We were trying to pop cans of beer we snuck in and getting the dirties looks, like we farted in church or something.
