Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from December 30, 2022 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

When I dined at fast food chains long ago I took umbrage (not sure what that even means...) when they asked for my name to call me when the order was ready. I thought that was a cynical way to seem folksy for a big-ass corporation, so I replied, "Twelve."

I'm liking these restaurant service intervention ideas.

Of a different order, I once went shopping for clothes, and I purchased two ties. I used to wear them fairly regularly, and I remain fond of my collection, even though I no longer wear them. Anyway, I had buyer's remorse. Spent way too much on pointless accessories. My wife and I went out to dinner that night. I wore one of the ties. The very first thing the server said as she approached the table: "That's a beautiful tie." Made my day.
