First encounter: subTonic basement, oct 2002. William was bananas. He had reel-to-reels set up everywhere on the floor going from the bar to the seating barrels. the audience had to tip toe amongst all of the running magnetic tape going every which way, and even w/ a fragrant green aroma from the recesses of the basement, none of the tape or machines were damaged. I eventually found a barrel and drifted. It was sublime in every aspect.... (it only lasted 2ish hours)

I think the biggest difference between the US and Australia regarding records is the hole size.

We also use different AC voltages and frequencies. I've seen people on IMDB blame the different AC on how some films run for slightly different times.

Tone arms on the left and the records spin counter clockwise. If you play Aussie records in USA it sounds like jibberish

One time me and a friend were trapped in another friend's apartment - well not really trapped, but we felt like we couldn't leave as we didn't have the keys and she was nowhere to be found, as she left in the middle of the night to go to some afterparty somewhere, and could not be reached be cause her phone was also in the flat, locked and connected to the stereo playing Disintegration Loops over and over and over. She returned in the late afternoon, "why didn't your just leave??!" I think Basinski hypnotised us
