Hi everyone! I hadn't known about Lenny Welch so thank you Gaylord. I looked him up and learned some fun facts:
-he was born in Long Branch NJ which is at the jersey shore.
- went to the college of new rochelle which was probably around the same time my mother was attending
-he was known as a "MOR" artist. never heard of that.

stands for "Middle Of the Road" but means "strongly melodic and techniques of vocal harmony, and light orchestral arrangements. The format was eventually rebranded as soft adult contemporary."

Welcome, joe mulligan, and thanks for sharing the Lenny Welch info!

can anyone help me ID a song? sounds like mamas & papas or the association, kind of like the mary tyler moore theme song, but the theme of the lyrics is going your own way/doing your own thing. @lawrence: I can't say I blame him. The Action are one of my all-time favorite flop groups. They never smelled a single hit in their lifetime -- but at least guitarist Alan "Bam" King got to have a smash hit with Ace's "How Long"!
