A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

Your right, Mr. Fab! I forgot that it was months before! My memory is already going...
2017 was a very rough year with four very good friends dying.
Very happy to be present and alive with you all
It’s way past my bed time but the music is calling us
Am I the only one that remembers them destroying a piano in one episode to "Whiter Shade of Pale"? I couldn't find any corroboration of it online...

Rather they have been returned to where they came from. Restored, as we all must be someday
Baby
Good Hello, Arje D Irie Mon!
Very Jealous, @AndrewBunny!
No, Douglas Trumbell, the FX person for Blade Runner passed.

An unexpectedly East-West flavor enlivens The Art of Living. On the one hand, its style is irrefutably Western: It exalts reason and is full of stern, no-nonsense moral directives. On the other hand, a soft Easterly wind seems to blow when Epictetus discusses the nature of the universe. His depiction of Ultimate Reality, for instance, which he equates with Nature itself, is remarkably fluid and elusive: startlingly reminiscent of the Tao.
For Epictetus, a happy life and a virtuous life are synonymous. Happiness and personal fulfillment are the natural consequences of doing the right thing.
I had them on for Episode #24.

Not long after, we were negotiating how to get them live on What's This Called? (The show I was an engineer for for many years while I lived in Portland.)
And then, finally: their appearances on my show.
I'll have to find a link to that photo later, and put it in the podcast show notes.
Mr. X & Pete: any thoughts regarding why you picked these songs?
It worked, and these are recordings from that show. I had a lot of fun at that show, and always wanted to do it again. That was the time I was talking about, where I would look over, and Gary would be looking at me, every time. I suspect everyone who plays with him says that.
"It was me! He was looking at me!"

Rumor has it that Eno composed more Dune music when the project was going to be with the previous director, Jodorowsky. However, only this piece has surfaced, so I think it's safe to say that this is probably as far as Eno ever got.
But there's probably time for wallowing, too.
