minkwest, I have told this story before, but a few years ago, I was listening to Suzy Hotrod's show with a friend, while playing a game, and we were both really into it. His partner came home, thought it was too staticky, and put on a Spotify rockabilly station. We went from finding new songs in every set to knowing every song that came on.

I'm glad Neil took a stand against spotify. I wish he hadn't presented his case as "it's me or Rogan". I'm totally against covid and vaccine mis/disinformation but I wish Neil would have started with "I don't want to be on the same platform as this this clown."

Spotify has different pay scales for on-demand plays and randomized plays pushed from a "channel" or random listening. Really tired of Frampton's non-story. His "14 million" plays came from people choosing a chill-out channel.

I try to be ethical in my Spotify use. If I really enjoy something I hear I buy a physical CD or buy a copy off Bandcamp. dave mentions a great point: pre-katrina is a huge watermark for new orleans. (obviously).

drr: the source, and the full quote: “My sound is big, heavy and a bit distorted because it has to overlap the guitar,” he said in a 2000 interview. “Someone once asked me to describe my tone, and I said it was like farting in a trash can. What I meant is it’s raw, but you’ve got to have the tone in there.”

@karlward When I was taking bass guitar lessons in middle school I asked the teacher what a fretless bass sounded like and his answer was "A well-tamed fart". Something about the bass that lends itself to comparisons of flatulence.
