"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

I potatoed yesterday. It's no reflection on potato but I could not potato where you were going or what you were potatoing. This early seventies thing did not get potatoed the first time and you talk about friends of like Clyde and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free potato stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like a potato is being pinched. I’m as confused as a goat on AstroTurf.

Bob, Plasticland accessories were made in Germany. They carried the full line at a toy store near my house. One thing that I wish I had was a box of hippies that were about an inch tall.

"plasticland" seems vaguely familiar to me. the timing's bad, as i was quickly becoming disillusioned with rock/pop/punk/etc in the early 80s.
i missed a lot of good music by ignoring it, until i came back to it in the early 90s
i'd like to hear plasticland now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am

Denny's had the fanciest french-fries with "au jus" on the side.

Isn't that the way it went, Coel? I started shrugging my shoulders pretty early as well. Kind of like now, really.
  1:40am
Plow Tonic:

I knew the real Denny, he was a chain smoker
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am
Franco Twinkie:

My dad was friends with Vern Winchell, of Winchell's donuts. When Vern sold Winchell's to Denny's he showed my dad the check which was some ridiculous amount of money in the early 70's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am
chresti:

I often would sit there (denny's, Sambos, Jumbos) for hours drinking coffee, when I was 15-16, drawing on napkins.

$700 or something
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am

the check bounced like one of his donuts
  1:47am
Plow Tonic:

No way would the Deny that I knew be paying 20 mill for a donut stall in the 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am
Franco Twinkie:

Haha! Granted, Winchell's donuts are complete crap, but back in the day they were pretty good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am
coelacanth∅:

dunkin donuts were good once too, though that may be hard to believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am
chresti:

I like how this sounds like they're playing in a cafeteria.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57am
Franco Twinkie:

I wouldn't wipe my ass with a Winchell's donut today, but as a kid I couldn't get enough of them.
