Hi ironybread and puzzlers!

Hi Hyper! Hi chresti!

Hi Jan!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm chresti:

Hi Rich!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Rich in Washington:

This was the first Sparks album I bought new.
Avatar 1:34pm ironybread:

#100HairsMakeAMan
Avatar 1:36pm ironybread:

My first Sparks purchase was "Music That You Can Dance To", which is still a strong album, it turns out. Then "Angst". Then in the nineties I found their Island albums on import CD and "Indiscreet" absolutely blew the top of my head off
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Rich in Washington:

I still have committed this couplet to memory: My Ronald Colman made 'em blink
My Pancho Villa made 'em think
But when I trimmed 'em real small
My Jewish friends would never call
Avatar 1:39pm ironybread:

Truly one of Ron's best-ever verses!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Rich in Washington:

I like to think that there's a collector community exclusively devoted to car audio system demo tapes.
Avatar 1:39pm Buddy Runyan:

Lows should not be resonant!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Rich in Washington:

Ron knows of which he speaks when it comes to upper lip hair styles.
Avatar 1:39pm ironybread:

Nothing should be resonant! If something's resonant there's something wrong with your audio system!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:40pm chresti:

My ex bought every Sparks release that I know of.
Avatar 1:40pm ironybread:

Best resonance from a car = when you've just got one window open and the passing wind plays your car like an ultra-low jug-band jug
Avatar 1:42pm ironybread:

The "2 Men" of this group were of course two-thirds of Fine Young Cannibals
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Mr Fab:

Fine & Young?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Mr Fab:

Starting off the day with bad jokes. Hi all!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Rich in Washington:

Interesting. Makes me wonder of that 2/3ds are the ones responsible for FYC's weird B-side utilizing Doug Kahn's Reagan cutup (sans credit)?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:43pm chresti:

Ha Mr. Fab.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Rich in Washington:

I feel like I shouldn't, but I love this single and all its remixes.
Avatar 1:44pm ironybread:

When the China Record Company released this Edelweiss CD they retitled it "The Heroic Fourth Platoon, Soldiers of Iron"
Avatar 1:44pm ironybread:

Hi Fab!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Ike:

Will sourdough do the trick as irony bread, or does it have to be pumpernickel?
Avatar 1:45pm ironybread:

Hi Ike! Irony Bread always has a good helping of sarcasm, but of course sarcasm and irony just aren't the same.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

A Yodel a day keeps the doctor away!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Rich in Washington:

I'm due to watch the Rutles special again. It's so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Mr Fab:

My fave track from the savage young Silver Rutles.
Avatar 1:50pm ironybread:

#TheresNothingMoreForYouToDo
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm chresti:

Irony Bread might have a little sourdough, I think.
Avatar 1:50pm Buddy Runyan:

Aw, hell!
Avatar 1:51pm ironybread:

Damnation!
Avatar 1:52pm Buddy Runyan:

😮
Avatar 1:53pm ironybread:

#SickInACup
Avatar 1:54pm Buddy Runyan:

Circular cat mess!
Avatar 1:56pm ironybread:

So, weirdly, this reissue CD credits this second "Istanbul" performance to "80 Drums Around the World", but the original LP from whence it comes credits the song to Bob Thompson's Battery
Avatar 1:57pm ironybread:

The band "80 Drums Around the World" doesn't seem to exist outside of the Ultra-Lounge series of reissue CDs, at least on Discogs
Avatar 1:57pm ironybread:

www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Mr Fab:

That si a head-scratcher. I know that the Ultra-lounge series made medleys , combining two tracks into one long track, but I dont' think thats the case here.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm chresti:

My ex used to iron his blue jeans.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Ike:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Rich in Washington:

Wow! That Dead Parrot Society comp is news to me!
Avatar 2:12pm ironybread:

Dead Parrot Society is a killer compilation - I must have tried to learn Dudley Moore's "Psychedelic Baby" about five minutes after I heard it on that CD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Jan Turkenburg:

Is there anything worse than hearing Pachelbel's canon yet another time...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Rich in Washington:

one of my ex-bosses - a retired Australian structural engineers - leads a local community orchestra which has a similar modus operandi to Portsmouth Sinfonia. All retirees who are hobbyists. They aren't quite as cacophonous but still entertaining and really charming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Stanley:

What's going on in here?
Jump you fucker jump.
I see
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Ike:

Ah, DOORS (FAN), one of SM Ken's favorites.
Avatar 2:15pm ironybread:

Jan - there's one thing worse than hearing Pachelbel's "Canon" one more time, and you'll have your answer LATER IN THE SHOW
Avatar 2:15pm ironybread:

Hi Stanley! We're jumping!
Avatar 2:16pm HyperDose:

Housewives and little girls are one in the same in certain parts of the world
Avatar 2:16pm ironybread:

Rich - clearly you need to produce a record for that community orchestra
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:17pm chresti:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Threemoons:

Afternoon all! Rushing about assembling weekend chores. Been a long time since I dropped in!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Jan Turkenburg:

Ironybread, I can't wait (i think...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Mr Fab:

Love your track sequencing today Ironybread, very funny.
Avatar 2:23pm HyperDose:

You played unsolicited music?! Man, Airheads would have been a very different movie if they went to WFMU.
Avatar 2:23pm ironybread:

Gosh, I just remembered where I bought that copy of "Percussion in Hi-Fi" - it was a now-gone thrift store on Overland Rd. in Boise
Avatar 2:24pm ironybread:

Thanks Fab!
Avatar 2:25pm ironybread:

Has anyone done a show where they try to play AOL CD mailers from the 1990s, just by slapping them in a CD player like an audio CD?
Avatar 2:28pm HyperDose:

I tried that once, was whisked away to a CIA black site, and instructed to never disclose what I heard to anyone. You have been warned.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm chresti:

Same as when you remove the tag from a mattress, right @HyperD?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Rich in Washington:

I used to love playing cassette rom tapes. They sounded like Throbbing Gristle.
Avatar 2:34pm ironybread:

Fun project = digitizing old TRS-80 data cassettes and using an online service to translate them into programs and run them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm coelacanth∅:

hi ironybread and puzzlepeople
Avatar 2:37pm ironybread:

Hi coelacanth∅!
Avatar 2:37pm Buddy Runyan:

The horrible noise?
Avatar 2:38pm ironybread:

The horrible noise is coming in and wrecking my show!
Avatar 2:38pm ironybread:

...on the Sheena's Channel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm coelacanth∅:

...bouncing back n forth with Dave's show and have to leave the house soon anyway
but if you play blues traveler ripping off Pachelbel i will vomit!
Avatar 2:41pm ironybread:

coelacanth∅: no need to worry about that possibility
Avatar 2:42pm HyperDose:

Oh no chresti, I wouldn't dare tango with the mattress police!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm coelacanth∅:

whew!
(i was worried when i saw your post @2.15)
Avatar 2:45pm Buddy Runyan:

Reminds of those Packard automobile radio ads I ruined!
Avatar 2:48pm HyperDose:

"..In December 1972, Mind Dynamics was investigated for practicing medicine without a license, and fraudulent representation of the potential benefits of participating in their coursework."
Avatar 2:55pm ironybread:

Clearly somebody put the FTC on their list of five people to talk to about Holiday Magic! Oops!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Rich in Washington:

What is Holiday Magic? Well it's the secret to success in Holiday Magic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Jan Turkenburg:

And yes, this is worse than Pachelbel's Canon LOL!
