Good morning ironytoast and puzzlers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Franco Twinkie:

A good gloomy Saturday morning to you Taylor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm coelacanth∅:

greetings ironybread, puzzlepeople
Avatar 1:31pm ironybread:

Hi chresti! Hi Franco! Hi coelacanth∅! Time for consumables!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm chresti:

The brownie should kick in by 11'o clock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm coelacanth∅:

i am consuming
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Franco Twinkie:

Does that mean Chresti and myself can't listen? We're stoners for life AND senior citizens. Straight up the middle boomers.
Avatar 1:32pm ironybread:

The family on the cover of this LP definitely took theirs
Avatar 1:33pm ironybread:

Special dispensation today for you and chresti, Franco
Avatar 1:34pm HyperDose:

The Bread of Irony, Franco, chresti, coel! :D
Avatar 1:34pm ironybread:

Hi Hyper!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm chresti:

Hi coel and HyperD!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm coelacanth∅:

hey HyperD! chrestî!
hey Franco i don't think my strange days came with that innersleeve and i feel gypped.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, This factors into the story later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Twinkietown evening news∅:

Franco has strange days
story at 9
Avatar 1:41pm ironybread:

I have to say Ralf Fiennes' wardrobe from Strange Days really holds up to this day.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm chresti:

Haha coel, stay tuned!
Avatar 1:43pm Buddy Runyan:

Hi ironybread! Used to see Schober organ kits advertised in Hi-Fi Stereo Review.
Avatar 1:44pm ironybread:

Hi Buddy! This LP has a startling dynamic range not just in the amplitude but in the frequencies. Lotsa loooooooow tones
Avatar 1:45pm ironybread:

Everyone sing along now, wherever you are! If you start to get dizzy you can stop.
Avatar 1:46pm Buddy Runyan:

Wider grooves on that LP made the very low tones possible. I feel like I’m back at Rossmoor Leisure World!
Avatar 1:47pm ironybread:

And nothing says Leisure like an entire wardrobe made of yarn!
Avatar 1:47pm HyperDose:

I've always wanted to be a sewing machine instructional audiobook producer
Avatar 1:48pm HyperDose:

Avatar 1:48pm HyperDose:

The sewing industry is full of pricks ;)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:48pm chresti:

The brother unit instruction.
Avatar 1:48pm ironybread:

That's why I never got into it, Hyper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

i wonder if my recent irritations are related to the sparkly yarn i used to make my boxer briefs. . .
Avatar 1:50pm ironybread:

This. Part. Made. Me. So. Happy. The first time. I heard it. I couldn't. Stop. Grinning.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:52pm chresti:

Oh the sinker plate, I'm missing that part.
Avatar 1:54pm ironybread:

Did you check in the fridge chresti
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:55pm chresti:

Oh dear, there's yarn tangled up inside the needle bed.
Avatar 1:56pm Buddy Runyan:

That machine probably has a “crackle” finish.
Avatar 1:56pm ironybread:

Just pull out the yarn as far as you can and cut it madly into smaller and smaller pieces.
Avatar 1:58pm ironybread:

Avatar 1:59pm ironybread:

Avatar 2:00pm ironybread:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm chresti:

Dose I doe.
Avatar 2:01pm ironybread:

Don't I sound calm? I'm great at remaining calm
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm chresti:

It's helping my brother knitting machine anxiety.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Franco Twinkie:

A double LP? I think that Brother Knitting record should have been released as a three record set, like the sound track from Woodstock.
Avatar 2:03pm Buddy Runyan:

The microphone enhances the effect, especially when you get closer to the microphone.
Avatar 2:04pm ironybread:

I agree Franco. I think the only reason it wasn't a 3-LP was that the producer ran into trouble with Brother's A&R department
Avatar 2:05pm ironybread:

Gonna get super close to the mike in this show, Buddy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Franco Twinkie:

And they could have had a picture of naked hippies wearing knit hats in a drainage ditch on the cover.
Avatar 2:07pm ironybread:

Moral: There's no bad situation (that was some magical creature's fault) that can't be made worse (also by that magical creature).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm coelacanth∅:

(or rastas with knit tams)
Avatar 2:07pm Buddy Runyan:

You ought to try some voice over processing plugins, too.
Avatar 2:07pm ironybread:

Franco - remember that great scene where a naked couple were making knit caps and the crowd was cheering them on
Avatar 2:14pm ironybread:

"One Sunday [May 14, 1967] I’m preparing for the show [Radio Free Oz] at home, and some people brought over some brownies. They did not tell me that they were laced with marijuana. It was a Sunday afternoon, I was hungry, I ate a couple of these brownies while I was preparing the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Franco Twinkie:

Hats!?! I was so high when I saw the movie I thought they were making sandwiches.
Avatar 2:14pm ironybread:

"I drive out to Pasadena. The KRLA studios were in the Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. Gorgeous setting, lovely place. I get out there, it’s eight o’clock, I get on the air. Phil Proctor’s a guest, and David Crosby is a guest that evening. They’re out in the lobby waiting to come on. I start to talk about the Mongols. I had been reading about the Mongols, and the fact that the Mongols were monotheists. Just starting a rap on the Mongols. God knows I would rap about anything. I had an eclectic mind. Most of the people I was talking to weren’t reading about the Mongols, so this was interesting. This was like having the shmoozy uncle who also plays groovy music and comes at you from fifty different places in three hours. It was cool, as long as you’re happy.
Avatar 2:14pm Buddy Runyan:

Avatar 2:15pm ironybread:

"And all of a sudden the room began to telescope down to a point. (laughs) I had tunnel-vision. I didn’t feel sick in a sense. I said, “Oh my God. There must have been something in those brownies.” So I just got the needle onto the record. I think it was Ravi Shankar. I was doing my own engineering at KRLA for a while. I got it on, and I just collapsed. They carried me out of the studio. Proctor and Crosby did the rest of the show that night. I was gone. Brooke [my girlfriend] took me home, and I recuperated there.
Avatar 2:16pm ironybread:

"I felt awful. I felt really unclean. This was very different from KPFK. It was a whole new lifestyle. I was not comfortable with it. It was very commercial. There was a lot of money around. It was just not my cup of tea."
Avatar 2:17pm ironybread:

(Peter Bergman, interviewed by Maryedith Burrell circa 2004)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Franco Twinkie:

Irony, the station was in the bungalows, not inside the hotel. A neighbor of of mine lived across the street on Wentworth when he was a kid, so anytime celebrities would show up, he could walk right over.
  2:19pm Eric Kilkenny:

Avatar 2:19pm ironybread:

Hi Eric! Have you eaten your consumable?
  2:22pm Eric Kilkenny:

hah! just now! I was totally starving didn't get a chance to eat a all this morning until just now. Half a bagel! yay
Avatar 2:23pm ironybread:

Well we're listening to a perfectly normal instruction record about the Ribbon Dance. Hope you're enjoying the smooth sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Franco Twinkie:

Oh wow! Doug Cox was the fiend who dismantled KPPC in Pasadena in October of 1971. He was hated by all the freaks in L.A. for what he did to free form radio. KPPC, along with KRLA and KPFK was also home to The Firesign Theater.
  2:33pm Eric Kilkenny:

@ironyB my wife just said of ribbon dance, "This kind of noise is okay, I don't mind listening to this but that other stuff you play I really hate."
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:34pm chresti:

Ribbon dance is the gateway to noisier stuff.
Avatar 2:36pm ironybread:

Today's program is really George. If you've heard Del Close & John Brent's "How to Speak Hip", George is the guy they'd bring to a party when somebody had taken too much of something and needed to come down. He'd come in, and they'd say "Hello, George!!" and that was it: "Instant bringdown."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm George∅:

i'm going to go by George from now on
Avatar 2:40pm ironybread:

Not included in today's show will be the song "(I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And) Whittle Away My Furniture" by TISM
Avatar 2:42pm HyperDose:

I was away from the PC and thought it was Willie speakin'!
Avatar 2:44pm ironybread:

Yes, humor in Germany after WWII went exacly where you probably think it did.
Avatar 2:46pm ironybread:

We have a gorilla at home, baking toast on the grill.
Wherever the gorilla hid the toast.

Avatar 2:47pm HyperDose:

Now that sounds like a dinner party at the Twinkie house
Avatar 2:49pm ironybread:

Thinkin' 'bout Fred Rogers this week after listening to that episode of "Spoken Word with Electronics" by Ethan Persoff, you should look it up everybody
