"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:14am YETI BOB:

Handy - a few years ago Mrs Y and I were riding bikes home after a concert. A driver in a pickup truck crossed into the bike lane, almost pinning us between their car and the parked cars. Then just smashed into a whole row of cars, at high speed - parts were flying everywhere, and people were seated at sidewalk tables, seeing their cars get destroyed while they sipped their cocktails. It was totally crazy, we were lucky we didn't get hurt or killed.

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:16am YETI BOB:

We called the police, Mrs Y bravely followed the truck on her bike until it came to a stop so she could report its location. We never really found out the whole story, the driver seemed more insane than drunk.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:17am YETI BOB:

Anyhow, your story reminded me of that episode. I hope the insurance company comes through for you.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:17am Handy Haversack:

Terrifying, YB.

According to informed rumor, the cops here will get involved only in "property crimes" (graffiti) these days because anything else spikes their stats and requires that they actually talk to residents. So no complaint filed against this dude.

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:32am Ken From Hyde Park:

A good game show question would be to have the contestant name all the bands with "Society" in the name.
Right turn to get to Phoenix. Left turn will definitely lead to mischief.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am zzz:

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:34am terminalhipness:

YETI - Good score! Figures DG would have it in stock! I always preorder cuz I like to think I'm helping the artist or label - but then it takes forever.
Avatar 👻 10:34am Marco Esquandolas:

Handy, is the insurance company going to put up a fight?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:35am Handy Haversack:

Marco, they seem to be being weasely to me, though I am not clear what ground they could possibly take to not accept liability. I am going to try to find a neighbor who actually saw it go down just so there's a coherent counter-narrative to the driver's lies.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:37am YETI BOB:

kfhp: i think you got that backwards, unless you are trying to trick me.
terminal: it's not actually in stock yet, they say May 14.
And Good luck, Handy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Passaic River Blues:

@Handy: wasn't it a one-vehicle accident? How the hell can the carrier contest liability (unless, I guess, the vehicle was stolen and/or used during the commission of a crime)?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:39am Handy Haversack:

PRB, the driver claims the only thing he remembers is being struck from behind, which is totally impossible since NO ONE ELSE was driving the wrong way up our one-way street. Jesus wept.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am TomDash:

Man, this new corsano/orcutt is so good!
Avatar 👻 10:39am Marco Esquandolas:

I spend much of my time at work fighting with insurance companies. Some of the adjusters are good and honest people. Some of them will screw you every which way they can
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am TomDash:

great news you're headed back to Studio A soon!
Avatar 10:41am Mike W:

how to cook what now?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:44am Handy Haversack:

If you wipe the rest of the dust off the cover, Mike W, it turns out to be How to Cook for a Wolf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Passaic River Blues:

@Handy: Wow. So, yeah, there is literally no way to disclaim I can see unless (1) driver did not have permission to use the car/was drunk; and (2) it's a shitty policy and they exhaust the property damage coverage because there are so many claims.
@Marco: absolutely. Some adjusters will latch onto any theory to justify a denial, even if it's utterly insane, physically impossible, and makes them sound like brain-dead assholes. "Our insured says he was rear-ended by a dune buggy driven by the ghost of Millard Fillmore, which then dematerialized into a puff of noxious, bright green smoke. Sounds good to me."

New job, I don't want to look bad. Luckily it's billed time so I just have to work late to make my 8 but my blood pressure is through the roof right now. I had a corrupt %TEMP% file.
