The “Fire Draw Near” podcast is created by one of the lads from Lankum. I’ve been listening obsessively since a friend clued me in last week.

Good morning Sylvia!
@Niall: thanks for the tip on the podcast. I do know Lankum, and that album The Livelong Day, is fantastic.

@Jeffrey Hannah Marcus's band The Wingdale Community Singers (with Rick Moody, David Grubbs, and others) has been playing shows here and there, I think. I don't think they've put out another album since Night, Sleep, Death in 2013, but that one's fantastic. Hannah has also been collaborating with Matana Roberts and working on some other projects.

Good morning. Nice beginning on a cool morning

Jeffrey, inspired by your endlessly wonderful discoveries, I finally joined Bandcamp. However, the first artist I looked for, Good Luck Mountain, only had one song available and it sounded nothing like the piece I recall you playing. What am I doing wrong?

I know @amazon we might have to think twice and be fast... yes, those pandemic times... & them making even more profit out of it, being more repressive and violent, this is no work this is social regression agressive model, this is closing down libraries cultural spaces, alternative and so on... human consumer, irritable numbers...Extremes at their max.....how could we be proud of human being? This cannot be a model, this is a violent world extremes may change someday, hoping for my child to find her way out there... ♡ keep on pushing people be strong ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

@TheoC Wow! that's very cool. It must be interesting to see the changes over the years and to have the connection with Pest and Hungary. I teach at a high school here and have been translating poetry and prose in my own time. Also I love biking around the country--taking the bike on the train to Tokaj tomorrow and biking around the area as much as possible while still getting back home before Covid-curfew....

And yes, I agree, beautiful show!

Just got a cassette from Beautiful Burning World in the mail the other day, shipped from somewhere in the UK. I’ve got a cassette deck in the laundry room for playing Bandcamp ambient (largely discovered on this here show).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26am
Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Andy! Right now, I have no cassette deck or player of any kind. Went to check out a nice old Sony portable that I hadn't used for years and found it was no longer working, and not sure why that might be, but it would be too expensive to fix.
Avatar 7:27am
Doug in JC:

Good morning everyone. Tape deck failure is almost always caused by stretching / decay of the rubber bands that drive the gears. Usually not too hard to DIY but it's pretty hard to find the right rubber bands these days

I have an old Sony cassette player that has aux input and a port for my Minidisc! It sits in my studio and is covered in paint and other crap.
