This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Number Six chops down the tree? What is he up to now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
WR:

i was wondering. "An abyssal plain is an underwater plain on the deep ocean floor, usually found at depths between 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) and 6,000 metres (20,000 ft). Lying generally between the foot of a continental rise and a mid-ocean ridge, abyssal plains cover more than 50% of the Earth's surface." - from Wikipedia

Bedroom Flash! But believe it or not it was carpet made for bathrooms. The guy thought I was mad. But it's over 40 years down & going strong. I bought the house I grew up in, so asked for the carpet as a kid, but still love it.

I have seen a carpeted bathroom in a house, and it kinda creeped me out. Wondering what fluids it had absorbed & critters lived within.
Avatar 7:49pm
Flash Strap:

yeah for sure but I bet it is nice on those toes on a cold night
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
melinda:

I looked up one of the houses I lived in as a kid on Zillow and it looked like it had the same carpet! The 1950s kitchen cabinetry and bathrooms were still the same. It was kind of nice to see, even though it was from a not happy time in life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
chresti:

Yeah, Scott67, I remember mildew smelling squishy carpets in bathrooms.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm

Totally, but this was right up to and around the toilet. So night visits would get a little damp I imagine.

RR @830 i know. that's what it's about. i actually had to buy a new (refurbished) computer 2-3 years ago solely for that reason. the old (snow leopard,c.2008) computer works fine to this day asnd i still use it, but it's incompatible with many websites and programs...which is the selfish choice that programmers and manufacturers make.

@chresti I mostly use it for checking to see if audio files are transcodes or not. Transcodes are when someone takes a poor quality audio file and converts it to a higher bitrate (the problem being you can't add fidelity that wasn't there in the first place).

one thing i sometimes do with low bitrate mp3s, on the rare occasion i deal with them, is transfer it to analogue tape. (and then possibly to cd) this, though obviously not increasing the quality *technically*, *sometimes* can make such files sound more natural.
