Hi ho Fabio and Failures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Handy Haversack:

Greetings, Fabio and the Failsafes!

I'm just going to put this banana peel over by the entrance David usually uses ...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm HyperDose:

A whole week couldn't have gone by that fast. We just teleported, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Stanley:

Eclecticticians, and an electrician too I hope for that set-up -- doesn't look like it's up to code to me.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm mrdonutsu:

I've hep'd so many people to Inutili thx to Fabio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Handy Haversack:

David, at first I thought you had ruined my joke! But then I realized that enabling failure is the sign of true friendship in this lounge. We have now formally exchanged gifts, and our two people can be at peace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Carmichael:

Inutili arrives pre-clicked!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm tim from champaign (now washington):

I think Inutili should jam out with Les Rallizes.
  3:11pm Brendan:

I am psyched. I’m strapped in, and ready for action. Bring on the soft rock hits of the 80s, never too loud, in a corporate friendly format that’s just right for the office of today’s modern workplace. No ... wait... that doesn’t sound right. F&#@ that success s*#@!. Let the giant man out of his cage, and let’s fail.

I’d rather hear elevator Muzak Brendan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm n8th3gr8:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Zetti:

I know this a dumb question... Several years ago, there was a 3 piece band, one-off, all from other groups, out of Brooklyn, had a similar sound to Inutili, Fab mentioned how great the psychedelic album cover was, I purchase the record, love it, can't find in my collection, can't remember the name! My brain is mush.

Dig Kandy Korn, great jam... thanks.
  3:33pm WM:

@Bri: I wonder what music with make the fond memories of my nephews?
  3:33pm David in London:

I love the Mu albums, too, when Antennae Jimmy had decamped to Hawaii with Merel Frankhauser. His guitar on those is sublime, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Carmichael:

@Zetti, check Fabio's archives if you can remember the timeframe.
Avatar 3:35pm Bas NL:

You are sounding great from the new setup, Fabio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm chresti:

Not familiar with Mu, DiL.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Carmichael:

Fankhauser was/is a totally unique spirit. His Fapardokly stuff was completely somewhere else, but still cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Carmichael:

MU was the mythical culture that pre-dated Hawaii, chresti.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm sphere:

FE used to carry MU and Fankhauser but that was a while ago.

Have been so happy listening to this show! Never been to Monty Hall but imagine it as being airy and not a Hot Box? But probably filled with velcro twist ties and gaffer tape and those hooks I made in my tiny room, with, what's it called Sugaru? Great sounds today!

I should follow up and say that yesterday I watched (I paid for it) a poignant film by Barry Jenkins (you all probably saw it) 2008 "Medicine for Melancholy" with Wyatt Cenac and also starring the city of San Francisco (and a wonderful Tracey Heggins.) Two people, talking, walking, getting together, special film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@HyperDose - For sure. SMK said Nadia turns eight pretty soon so he's already looking for another seven-year-old to take over.

  4:16pm Miss G:

NGH, no permits, & what they do with saturation/desaturation is so filmic, even a scene on a carousel, just a great contrast to other things in the film, which are not "dellghtful."
  4:18pm David in London:

Ah, Mariano, it’s yourself.

The most important film I’ve found on Rarefilmm.com is Flight of the Eagle (1982) by Jan Troell. It’s about an real attempt in 1897 by a Swedish explorer to fly over the North Pole in a balloon. I’m sure I’m not spoiling anything to say he didn’t make it. Sometime in the 1930s they found the wreckage of the balloon along with photographs the crew had taken. It’s a great film that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else.

Was Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye aware of this when the recorded Piss Factory?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Handy Haversack:

It's a good book, Miss G. That author is my favorite chronicler of pain-laden ambiguously successful, poorly prepared Danish expeditions to rough, hostile lands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm steveo:

what's the book, HH?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@Handy and Miss G - When I worked at U of Illinois library I became acquainted with a professor emirtus who researched and wrote about polar exploration well into his 90s. I was glad to have met him.
  5:02pm Miss G:

Handy, your comments at the Techtonic show were so interesting, I am intrigued. It is right up my alley, but I am wading through " À la recherche du temps perdu" (lying, I am reading a bio of food writer James Beard so that I can pretend I am eating delicous food)
  5:02pm WM:

@Miss G. the film Flight of the Eagle is based on an historical novel by Per Olof Sundman. I think you can find a PDF on line.

steveo, it's The Way to Hudson Bay (U.S. title), by Thorkild Hansen, about the Danish sailor Jens Munk.

Even better, honestly one of my favorite books of all time, is his Arabia Felix, about a Danish scientific expedition to Yemen in the 1700s.
  5:07pm David in London:

I must protest, Handy. As an Englishman, we led the world in pain-laden ambiguously successful, poorly prepared expeditions to rough, hostile lands. And Sir Ranulph Fiennes is still gamely sacrificing his fingers to the cause.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm tim from champaign (now washington):

DiL - see what happens when you take initiative? :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm steveo:

Thanks Handy, I'll look into those.

I recently read a book that covered some of the Russian Tsars' arctic exploration and that part was pretty interesting ("Analogia" by George Dyson). Not sure if i recommend the book as a whole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm LastVisibleDog:

Wow, I missed that you played a Black Forest/Black Sea track earlier. I always have this show in breaks between my classes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm HyperDose:

@chresti He assured me it was Chamberlain's colic remedy (the real stuff!). Have I been bamboozled once again?
Avatar 5:16pm slugluv1313:

greetings, Fabio and Skeletons and Failure Family!
been away from keyboard, but listening -- so grateful for the sounds/vibes :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm dale:

afternoon. really like the aphrodite's child.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm dale:

is this a repeat? i already clicky starred it in a past life.
  5:20pm nic:

love Menche!!!_the whole show has been great after Beefheart...
  5:21pm Miss G:

This amazing Daniel Menche is making me say that also, if you get a free trial at Criterion, and see their Afrofuturism series, you can see Wyatt Cenac's series with "jazz Othello" 1962 "All Night Long" Dave Brubeck, tiny amount of Charles Mingus
  5:23pm gorp:

right between the sound machine
Avatar 5:24pm KenW:

Tuning in late, LOVING the Menche!
Avatar 5:27pm northguineahills:

Menche is no mensch! (dig that artist)
  5:28pm Miss G:

gorp I used to have a cassette in my car that I'd play to begin a long drive, and that song featured heavily "right between the sound machine" ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm steveo:

yep, i had that on a mixtape as well; if you play the end of it, i'd be able to tell you what came after it, too :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm HyperDose:

Gotta pay the troll toll
Avatar 5:30pm Josh Allen:

we've moved on from the "field recordings of flies" part of the set and into the "maraconi necklace" final stretch!
  5:32pm Miss G:

. . .Maybe Gus Bodenheim can do an audio book of various "pain-laden ambiguously successful, poorly prepared _____ expeditions to rough, hostile lands." for the next fund drive. . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm steveo:

i like how the trumpet is distorted on the edges
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Handy Haversack:

That's synergy right there, Miss G!
  5:37pm gorp:

@missG that sounds like a great tape! i inherited my dad's steppenwolf tape when i was a kid and stretched that one out. great tune for tape warble
  5:38pm Miss G:

Josh Allen just wanted to say I am still chuckling at your comment @5:30
