A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

I think a lot of us were scolded by our parents for doing weird things with records and we just never grew out of it. I can only speak for myself, of course.

I was obsessed with that tornado comment guy the other day. People are getting exponentially dumber every day. It's kind of scary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm

I can't find my record with Doug Kahn's Reagan Speaks For Himself on it. It's upsetting, sort of.

the captain is ravin'! i had fun doing this kind of thing as a youngster in the early 80s. wish i still had the tapes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Rich in Washington:

The 80s/Reagan era sure made for some interesting music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Rich in Washington:

This originally came out in 1979 on Twin Tone Records. It's been unobtainable until 2012 or so. This reissue is incredible, like double the material of the original.
Avatar 7:35pm
geezerette:

Loved the humor.

Linda, those tapes must have been great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
Rich in Washington:

LL: yes. I also did lots of crazy things with tapes. I had no idea it was a thing. Just me being weird.

This is for you, Don-O!
Avatar 7:40pm

somewhere those sounds still exist, i guess! :-) for me it really was like firewood, which warms you twice (processing & burning) ~ with a better return on investment! don't forget, we had more empty time than the youth do now.

much media was personal.

Mr Fab:

Why were so many inept lounge acts drawn to 'Proud Mary"?What did that poor song do to deserve such treatment?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Rich in Washington:

I still have boxes and boxes of tapes, mainly tapes of radio shows from the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Rich in Washington:

I don't know, Mr. Fab, but your mention of this the other day inspired me to play that.
