Hoping our former neighbors are listening. They have opened a new Thai restaurant in nearby El Cerrito (home of Down Home Records!) that deviates from the norm: http://www.eastbayexpress.com/oakland/the-isaan-style-larb-at-larb-thai-food-and-tapas-is-a-knockout

Mr. Fab -- I can send it to you!
  7:37pm
Dean:

Have yet to try it, though, @hyde! When we lived next door to Paul and Ann she would drop off goodies every now and then. They ran a restaurant well out of town for a while, and although I see them in town now and then (usually when we're dropping off kids at school) I hadn't heard about the new local place until I read the review. Can't wait to visit!

What's the format of choice for this part of the world nowadays? CDs still the main thing there, like it's 1993 all over again? Are cassettes/ vinyl/ mp3 in the mix?
Avatar 7:46pm
hyde:

@RevRab that looks good too. i went to the Cambodian sandwich place in Manhattan....Num Pang? something like that. tasty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Gary:

Mr. Fab, it's a combo! In Laos is mostly CDs and USB sticks. In Thailand, it's everything: Records, tapes, CDs, VCDs, USB sticks
  7:49pm
Dean:

When I lived in Southern California, a Thai/Burmese/Lao restaurant, Golden Triangle, used to get raves from all across LA. Not sure it's even there anymore, but it was a wonderful restaurant.
Avatar 7:51pm

i love that VCD is still a format. i had to pack up all my old Asian movie VCD's when i packed up my house. it's such a weird little format.
