![]() Good morning! Hi, @Gary, @Dout, @hyde! |
![]() |
![]() ("Dout" was a typo, but...) |
![]() |
![]() Sorry for the late start - tech glitch. We'll still bring you the full three. |
Sun. 7/3/16 9:20am
Gary:
Yes, you forgot the N. (donut)
![]() |
![]() Mmmmm. Donuts. True story: the likely derivation of "dough" "nut" came to me while driving to Massachusetts yesterday. #thoughtswhiledriving |

i could use a doughnut from Kane's in Saugus right now |
![]() |
![]() "Saugus" sounds like a Tolkein villain. Uses doughnuts to lure in his (her?) victims. |
Sun. 7/3/16 9:38am
Gary:
What did you think the derivation might be, Jeff?
Sun. 7/3/16 9:39am
Gary:
Oh wait never mind. I see what you did there

Saugus could also lure people in with German delicacies from Karl's Sausage Kitchen |
![]() |
![]() Saugus lured me in as a yoot via a school field trip to the Saugus Iron Works. If I'm remember that correctly. |

why are field trips never to actual, you know, fields? |

Good pre-dim sum sounds

I picked up Sounding the Margins a year or so ago and although I haven't yet dug in in earnest, I'm guessing Pauline tended to hover at the hippie end of the spectrum?

![]() Three cremes for the elvenkings - they won't eat pie Seven donuts for the dwarflords - cause in their Halls - they're stoned... |

@Glenn, I've been watching one of your country's export specialties, a cheap sci-fi show. This one is called Dark Matter. Several scenes in the most recent episode are set in a field. Also they do warehouses. Lots of warehouses.
![]() |
![]() ...you must return this donutring to the frier from whence it was made - there is no other solution to its' temptation... |
![]() |
Sun. 7/3/16 9:58am
glenn:
don't know dark matter, but i'm a big fan of orphan black. |
Sun. 7/3/16 10:02am
ike:
Better plotting than Orphan Black, but lesser characterization. Central mystery is interesting. As w/OB, female characters much cooler than males. Weird throwback of a show, like something from the 90s. First season is on Netflix USA.

![]() Hi all, making me hungry. I'd go on my Ozzie walk and get my chocolate peanut butter roll, but Oz is PDF getting his summer buzz cut. Been in love with the Allison Miller album, Otis was a Polar Bear. The Matt Wilson's Big Happy Family album, Beginning of a Memory, had also spent a lot of time on the playlist. |

Dean:
Your "dough nut" moment, Jeff, is what we refer to as a "Duh!" moment. For instance, it only occurred to me this a.m. that the reason Nixon dubbed them "plumbers" was to stop leaks of information. Duh. Took me more than forty years.
![]() |
![]() Belated greets, @Dean and @RRN63! |
Sun. 7/3/16 10:44am
Andrew Korell:
my duh moment was fortnight or forteen nights

![]() Hey - WKCR is online again. |

Sun. 7/3/16 11:15am

Sun. 7/3/16 11:21am

Five years later, synth player Patrick Gleeson here would engineer first Devo album.

![]() Enjoying the long tracks. |
