Hi, Michael! Hi, Hypnotized Golick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/27/16 9:41am Michael:

Hiya Doug. My moose sighting was in the fall so perhaps they are more active at that time. It was a momma moose and child. Got out of the car and got pretty close for a pic.

Again, they are quite large. =)

"Blissful walk by the river." I enjoyed merely reading that sentence.

that means you, Doug?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:29am listener james from westwood:

I see mentions of warblers, I think of Monty Python's Mr. Raymond Luxury Yacht, which is actually pronounced, "Throat Warbler Mangrove."
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:30am coelacanth:

i do hear some warbling, now that you mention it...
...Happy Birthday Sir Douglas!

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:35am coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:38am coelacanth:

Brian, i was once tricked into eating a tongue sandwhich. my mother & brother assumed it would sketch me out, but in fact my attitude was that if i ate cow anyway, what's the difference?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:39am coelacanth:

rest in peace Marco Eneidi (who i too have not been familiar with.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/27/16 10:39am Jeff Golick:

Another "rec room" name who often played with Eneidi and was also gone too soon: Glenn Spearman.

:(

Nice words, Doug. Beautiful.
Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 10:39am βrian:

Yup. Food is food. Just don't ponder the notion of who is tasting whom, and you'll be good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:41am coelacanth:

damn i wish i could get this in the car....
Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 10:42am Doug Schulkind:

Glenn Spearman. What a beautiful player. All the records he didn't get to make. Stunning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/27/16 10:42am Jeff Golick:

Damon Smith, who plays bass on Ghetto Calypso, released the record on his Balance Point Acoustics label and has made it a "name your price" download given Eneidi's passing: balancepointacoustics.bandcamp.com...

The record also features Peter Kowald on bass; Ghetto Calypso is dedicated to his memory, as he had passed away between the date and the original release.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:43am listener james from westwood:

@coelacanth: That would allow us to properly transcribe the name of another Python person, Gavin Millarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 10:44am listener james from westwood:

βrian: I have gotten baked goods from Zingerman's for myself and as gifts, and it's only stoked my envy of those who can actually visit their stores.

Is it true? Has young Marco Eneidi died? He was to have played a week ago Wednesday with Ben Goldberg and the Patrick Wolff Sextet when they opened for Brotzmann. Wolff announced that Eneidi would not be there due to a stomach flu.

Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 10:56am Doug Schulkind:

@Dean
Your comment is the first actual reference to a health issue regarding Eneidi. There has been a ton of chatter in social media of his death from those who would clearly know. But there has been absolutely no official confirmation. And I find it unnerving. It's almost like Eneidi is being anonymized in death the way he was (for too many) in life.
Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 10:57am Doug Schulkind:

Doug are you familiar with this. Openculture.com did a write up on it yesterday. Seems like something you can get lost in. www.openculture.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/27/16 11:11am joe:

I was not familiar Marco until today. it is odd that when a google search is done there is no mention what so ever. I've done searches for the most obscure band members after their passing in the past and still get a least something.

If also sadly insufficient notice.
  Fri. 5/27/16 11:14am Mr C:

Quietly lurking right behind the Cubs, and their near historic start, are the Pirates. Humming smoothly.
  Fri. 5/27/16 11:14am Dean:

Weird. The venue where Brotzmann played nine days ago, and where Eneidi was to have played with Wolff, is SF's The Chapel, which "occupies an historic 1914 building that was originally a mortuary."
Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 11:18am Doug Schulkind:

If I were a Cubs devotee, I would be nervous about being only 5 games up after such a tremendous start.

@Joe
There are so many musicians who I completely adore who I first learned of via their obituaries. (The great cajun musician Dewey Balfa is one who comes to mind.) I guess I kind of hope that an robust, glowing obituary for Marco Eneidi may introduce him to a wider circle. Oh well.
  Fri. 5/27/16 11:22am Lore:

Sorry to be late to the discussion of Marco Eneidi, but bassist Damon Smith posted to Facebook that "Marco had been battling at least two terminal medical issues and had actually beat the odds to get this far. I imagine it was one of those." https://www.facebook.com/damon.smith1/posts/10154211698013234?comment_id=10154211725308234

  Fri. 5/27/16 11:30am Dean:

This from my friend and former Eneidi colleague:

Unfortunately, Marco passed away a couple days ago. We were informed by his son Nicco via Facebook on the 24th with this post:

"Tonight at 8:45pm my father Marco Eneidi, passed away in ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton, CA. I love you and will miss you always dad.”

That’s the most that I know - we were out of contact for many years. Very sad.
Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 11:31am Doug Schulkind:

Thanks, Dean.

  Fri. 5/27/16 11:42am Mr C:

Darrow Fletcher made a lot of very good records. But he never got one that really cracked it.
Avatar Fri. 5/27/16 11:43am Doug Schulkind:

He has cracked me into pieces repeatedly, Mr C.

"How do you know when you're finished" eating tongue? Ha ha, well, my own tongue is NOT as well-seasoned or juicy as the lengua in the tacos in Sunset Park. I'm a rather luckluster slab of meat.
