@drr: Understandable, as Swamp Dogg co-wrote and co-produced it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm

And Gene Pitmey is straight up doing Swamp Dogg in his delivery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Matt F:

Wow! Didn't look at the songwriter credit, but there it is! Thx Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm

My pleasure, Matt! I'm all about Pitney (or "Pitmey," as I've typo'd it above).

I grew up thinking country music sucked, then, luckily, I heard Merle Haggard.
  3:08pm
eric:

where can I read that stuff about Merle?

Nate K:

That quote about "Okie" was interesting. Merle seemed to constantly be questioning his own politics and forcing himself to consider new viewpoints, even late in life. Not something one necessarily expects from an aging country singer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
Gaylord Fields:

More honorable than ossifying into any doctrinare stance, Haggard was a questioner, an intellectualy curious critical thinker — who was never afraid to say "i'm wrong" (even if he would later follow up with "When I said I was wrong, I was wrong then").
  3:20pm
Dungaroos Kipawah:

"Prison Band" is one of my favorites in a long list of Hag favorites. Good call, but really, how could you go wrong with that catalog? Throw a dart, pick a winner.
  3:20pm
Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
