P-90:
Happy happy, Amanda! Great vocals at the Sinfonia.
![]() |
![]() True story: I quit going to a gifted & talented program in 4th grade b/c a classmate's mom, a breeder of Golden Retrievers, was bringing a pack of puppies in on the same day as the program. Met the teacher, told her I was done, reveled in the blonde bundles of fun. Moral: Make time for puppies. |

P-90:
The old Golden Retriever with Red Rose on White Bedsheet Thank You. Never fails me make one feel soft and squishy inside.

![]() Hallo! |
![]() |
![]() Greetings all. Hola UM. Back in the flatlands? |
![]() |
![]() LJFW, You are TRULY the gifted one for knowing that at such a young age. |
![]() |
![]() Yes, but not flatter than New Jersey! |
![]() |
![]() Your debutante knows what you need, but Amanda knows what you want. Ahoy-hoy! |
![]() |
![]() @P-90, thank you! I think I made Levon Helm turn in his grave. But at least I was singing in the same key consistently even though the band was in a different key. (And they freakin RULED.) |
![]() |
![]() @Amanda: Yay me! And encountering Dungeons & Dragons 2 years later taught me everything else I would've gotten from that class! |
![]() |
![]() Amanda! Amandafolk! |

Dominick:

![]() |
![]() Doug! Sing-along! WFMU! |
![]() |
![]() Yip, jump! (all the while noting the awkwardness of that 99% figure) |
![]() |
![]() Lighters Up!! |

Do it again!!!! |
![]() |
![]() Hi all! Welcome back to non-marathonland. |
![]() |
![]() @AN: could you have picked a trickier song to sing at H&M? Answer is no. Well done. |
![]() |
![]() Well, thank you! It was really good in rehearsal, I should have recorded it! :-) |
![]() |
![]() Always nice to hear Teenage Fanclub. "Bandwagonesque" got me through a goodly stretch of "Oh, shit, college really is completely done and this is indeed the real world, huh?" |
![]() |
![]() I'd never known they covered "Life's a Gas" until I found that CD once in the library! They also do "Like a Virgin" on that one |
![]() |
![]() I remember hearing their "Like a Virgin" back in the day, likely on WLIR/WDRE, my go-to just before WFMU came into my life. |

Wed. 3/23/16 12:36pm
Danne D:
Amanda is right - I remember when she was a fresh face in the crowd at Hoof N Mouth - now she kills it up on stage at Hoof N Mouth every year :D |
![]() |
![]() Nice to hear Elvis C! |
![]() |
![]() Evan Davies used to work at WDRE! I listened to it too. MODERN ROCK. |
Wed. 3/23/16 12:39pm
Dean:
This is the *only* Elvis Costello performance I like.
Wed. 3/23/16 12:39pm
P-90:
Amanda is easily one of the strongest voices at the Sinfonia these days. [True! -not a phony ass-kissing compliment]
Wed. 3/23/16 12:42pm
P-90:
And that was an ambitious choice of songs
![]() |
![]() Am-Rock! |
![]() |
![]() love it |

Going down as well as Pat Byrne did at the hoof and mouth in this house.
![]() |
![]() I thought it was SUPER funny. Then again, I am 5 years old. |
![]() |
![]() i gotta run, will be listening on the app of course, but just have to share this recent Simpsons related find - scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net... |
![]() |
![]() ahhhhh, I love it. Thanks Steve. |

Wed. 3/23/16 1:01pm
P-90:
It's not Like Sir Paul can do no wrong, but IMO his batting average is astonishingly high.
![]() |
![]() @ndbob, it was the Vipers I believe? I'm like 90% sure. |
![]() |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:03pm

Brian in UK:
Oh the streets of Rome are paved with rubble Ancient footprints are everywhere. Loved it, Amanda. |
![]() |
![]() Aw, that is so sweet. Thanks man. And hi Ken! |

Wed. 3/23/16 1:13pm
Brian in UK:
Just went to order a couple of CDs from a record shop run by the former drummer in the Vapours (Turning Japanese) only to find that he has had to close. He also put on gigs locally. A great loss. |
![]() |
![]() Oh no - what a shame. Sorry to hear. And right before Record Store Day too... |
![]() |
![]() How was this not on the Crust Brothers album? |
![]() |
![]() It so should have been. |
![]() |
![]() Oh wait. It was. I love that album with an unhealthy passion. |
![]() |
![]() (Even if I forget what's on it.) |
![]() |
![]() Just a general issue I'm having past few days...I use the pop up to listen at the office, firewall blocks other sources. The pop up is working, but it keeps freezing very often, have to close it and reopen. Not terrible, and has always happened a bit, but now seems to happen multiple times a show. |
![]() |
![]() It's OK Jeff. I mean, it was REALLY LONG AGO. |
![]() |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:20pm
Brian in UK:
Pilsener, drink beer. Hmmmm. |
![]() |
![]() Is this the one where Homer issues his dictates against "any misdirected woo, which pretty much includes any John Woo film"? |
![]() |
![]() "Disco Stu is working pro bono!" |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:33pm
steve:
Yes! re: Dondelinger and Chalmers
![]() |
![]() I always find Chalmers as an instrument of fear amusing, b/c my district's superintendent was a little guy a la the district attorney in "LA Confidential." |
![]() |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:36pm
Danne D:
I like that Amanda says "milieu" in the exact same fashion that Dave Emory does :) |
![]() |
![]() "I've traveled the world and the seven seas, I AM WATCHING YOU WITH A CAMERA!" |
![]() |
![]() Yes! That glitch is a big one. (Also, same band as earlier appeared in the prom ep?) |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:42pm
P-90:
Haven't seen that one yet, gotta fix that immediately...
![]() |
![]() Hmm, I think maybe? But I don't remember if the lady singer is there. And YES, James, on the "any John Woo film" line. |
![]() |
![]() I'm always moved by Carl showing up for Lenny at the end. |
![]() |
![]() "Carl Carlson???" - Lenny |
![]() |
![]() Plus the bit of the M*A*S*H theme when Homer watches Marge & Artie fly away in the chopper? Killed me the 1st time I saw it. |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:46pm
P-90:
In the seventies, someone was actually selling those shoes with tall hollow Lucite soles that could be filled with water and a live fish. That was before PETA...
Wed. 3/23/16 1:47pm
sugarwolf:

![]() |
![]() I played a Brady Brunch track recently. TRENDING! |

Wed. 3/23/16 1:50pm
Brian in UK:
There are enough animals in our kitchen to make a Disney adventure film, better go and feed them. Nice one, Amanda. |
Wed. 3/23/16 1:52pm
P-90:
Ronnie! the one and only!
Wed. 3/23/16 1:55pm
sugarwolf:
Waltzing Matilda is my ringtone!! At my step-cousin's wedding the band played this with Yiddish lyrics
![]() |
![]() I was hoping you'd go there. RIP Phife. |
![]() |
