Bob!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:10pm ndbob:

this is interesting
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:11pm Gary:

It's shocking to me how great and how varied and how prolific he was, versus how little known he was, even in Russia
  Wed. 3/2/16 7:12pm Jill B.:

Hi Gary and No Dak Bob!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:13pm ndbob:

Yep - I had never heard of him - heya Jill!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:14pm Gary:

Hi Mom! I feel like we haven't talked in a while. I liked the photo of the walkway that Hal made ... looks very nice!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:16pm Gary:

Anything ca. 1976 and earlier would have been recorded in his apartment; anything ca. 1977 and later was done after hours on the equipment in the studio where he worked as a sound engineer / producer
  Wed. 3/2/16 7:20pm Richard:

One-syllable reaction: Wow!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:21pm Gary:

Hi, Richard! That was him on the guitar, too, btw

Polyus!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:45pm hyde:

scary: i use my ipal for sound on my pc here, never use it for the radio setting. the thing started making terrible feedback noises, so i yanked out the aux in cord to see if i needed to blow dust out of it and hall and oates' "your kiss is on my list" came blasting out at top volume from the fm dial. that was horrifying.
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:45pm Tusalava:

Well hello there.
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:46pm Gary:

Howdy, Tusalava ... Hyde, were you Hall & Oates rolled?
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 7:51pm hyde:

i'm a little shaken

Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 8:44pm Rich in Washington:

Goddamned meetings have prevented me from listening all day!
Sorry I missed your show, Doug. Will check it out in archiveland.
Hola, Gary! Glad to catch some of this, however briefly.

Howdy, Preston! This guy is seriously, seriously underappreciated
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:06pm coelacanth:

greetings Gary; Bodegatrons
...i have a feeling i've missed 2 hours of amazement.
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:06pm Flash Strap:

got way delayed but I'm here now. i hate to think what I've missed
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:08pm coelacanth:

(ha! it's rare when a lover is "simply"!)
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:11pm Gary:

Coelacanth! Flash! And, yes, good point Coelacanth :)
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:17pm Flash Strap:

this shit is crazy Gary, how have I never even seen this guy's name
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:19pm Gary:

He was very much anti-star ... I think he only toured a couple of times. So even in the USSR / Russia he wasn't very well known, although the musicians all revered him
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:21pm northguineahills:

awesome!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:21pm Gary:

NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:22pm coelacanth:

ah-ha... as Eno was here until ....when?
(it seems like everyone knows who he is now; but i don't know when or why that happened.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:25pm Ike:

Отлично!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:26pm Gary:

Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:36pm Ike:

Cool, you've got a guest host next week! I presume a lot of GTDS shows won't have a guest host (because they're far away and/or due to technical issues). It really makes a big difference.
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:38pm Gary:

Everyone will have either a live host or a virtual host, Ike -- I'm going to virtual host Flashstrap's show, for instance
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:38pm coelacanth:

i don't need to click any tracks for i'm gold-starring the whole program!
(actually i did already)
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:39pm Gary:

Yuri is smiling at you from Heaven, Coelacanth
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:39pm hyde:

@Gary are you going to hover in the background like a wraith while Flash tries to DJ his show? i'll pony up for that
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:40pm Gary:

I'm going to whizzzzzz and screeeeeech about in the comments, yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:41pm coelacanth:

Gary, i like your description of Yuri in the program title...i might add Tom Zé to that list as well!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:42pm Gary:

Yes! I wonder if maybe, almost anyone awesome one might think of, we can add them to Yuri's list
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:43pm coelacanth:

Haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:49pm Ike:

Oh wow @Gary@9:38, for real? Even Tony Coulter?
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:50pm Gary:

Yes! Even, even, even Tony
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:53pm coelacanth:

-even if someone is in the vicinity of jersey city, it might be very difficult to, essentially, run 2 fund-raisers out of the fmu headquarters simultaneously. (if not impossible.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:54pm coelacanth:

(-or 3, as would be the case between 7-8 pm on wednesdays)
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:55pm Gary:

Ah, but there are three studios, Coelacanth, and I'll be doing mine out of one of them :)
  Wed. 3/2/16 9:55pm David:

Hi, Gary. My new job kept me away as well.
The few tracks I've heard are pretty cool. Any reference to Captain Beefheart must not be taken lightly
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:55pm Gary:

Hi David! I think he earned it
  Wed. 3/2/16 9:57pm David:

Which tracks are on the experimental/avant-garde side?
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:58pm northguineahills:

I've only caught 40 minutes in total, but wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 9:59pm coelacanth:

ohhh. i knew there were (at least) 3 studios, but thought the whole dj/co-host/phone room set-up was a fairly complex, specifically devoted space.
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 9:59pm Gary:

@David: Dream of the Red Chamber, definitely!
  Wed. 3/2/16 10:00pm David:

Definitely eliments of prog-rock.
Will explore this gentleman more.. thanks Gary
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 10:01pm hyde:

cool stuff. thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 10:02pm coelacanth:

Daaammn... Thank you so for turning me (us) onto Mr. Morozov, Gary.
...'shame he died so young.
good night y'all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/2/16 10:03pm Ike:

Oh, I misunderstood. By "virtual host" you just mean comments. So that's not new. But it's cool nonetheless.
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 10:03pm Gary:

Have a great night, all; see ya at the marathon!
Avatar Wed. 3/2/16 10:04pm Gary:

@Ike, yes, for the far-aways, comments
