Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hi Alex. Speak now or forever speak again some more later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 12:57pm Uncle Michael:

lane I discovered that the Consentino's market in Brookside carries many Boar's Head products I didn't know they made...such as a navel cut pastrami...and they had some excellent Norwegiaan lox. I got the good baba ganouj from down at city market...and white anchovies at Bella Napoli...Serrano ham and pancetta at city market too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 12:59pm Mike East:

City Market is produce and other vendors...there's a good Middle Eastern grocery and a good Italian deli there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 1:02pm Mike East:

oh also, hello, nice show so far! Hell yes, Al Green!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 1:02pm Parq:

I mentioned to a high school pal that I dug Al Green, and he responded, "Oh, you're one of *those* guys." When I gave him a quizzical look, he responded (somewhat sheepishly, to his credit) that Al Green was known for being really popular with women. Growing up blue-collar Catholic in New Jersey was like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 1:03pm Uncle Michael:

Yes, Al Green has tactical value. Was that his point?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 1:06pm Parq:

Um, to tell you the truth, UM, I didn't have anyone to be tactical with at the time, and he knew it.

Well, thank you, UM. I know it pains you to spin TYA. Still waiting for Savoy Brown, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 1:29pm Uncle Michael:

i didn't care what others thought, but i just assumed they wouldn't like it. they came to my house expecting to hear rock, and "space-rock"....but eventually they flipped through my albums and i couldn't deny my deviant tendencies.

ha!...well i actually was wondering if the single had it entitled without the "you". ...ridiculous,of course, but some radio stations might have not played a song who's title suggests sex, even in such a coded way!

my sister got a dog named "flower" at the shelter. no one liked it so the contest was on. i suggested "Tribble", since she was clearly going to be a handful.
...but her children didn't get the reference, unfortunately.

Stanley. No. Moved there in '83. I used to go there to get parts for my BSA 650.

Remember in the "Trouble With Treble" episode when all those 45s came dumping out of the upper cupboard onto Captain Kirk?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/18/15 1:58pm coelacanth:

Hahaha!
  Fri. 12/18/15 1:58pm Dean:

Not quite, still b/p, but I do remember Spock cleaning the turntable stylus and producing hundreds of little dust balls.

...Harmony Grass was like Simon&Garfunkel backed by CS&N - kinda notable...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/18/15 2:02pm coelacanth:

yes it depends on the song...same thing with the strings. i almost always like flat-wound bass strings, but occasionally it's more about the twang than the bottom.

Food, time for cooking. Great sounds, Uncle.

Electric Bass Guitar is an even newer instrument than the Electric Guitar
- & the Guitar itself was never respectable: Bach wrote for Lute & Cello - the Guitar was the village bicycle that everybody had had a ride on...So - Rules Schmules.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 2:06pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for hangin' out Brian.
Avatar Fri. 12/18/15 2:08pm Lane Gray:

Reverend Rabbit, you know what (they think) was the first use of the electric bass guitar on record?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 2:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

No man - hit me !
Avatar Fri. 12/18/15 2:09pm Lane Gray:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/18/15 2:09pm coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/18/15 2:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(...websearches to make sure Reno & Smiley isn't a cop parody starring Ren&Stimpy...)

Avatar Fri. 12/18/15 2:13pm Lane Gray:

Yup. Bluegrass.
